This is a high pressure sales organization. Be very careful signing up for a contract membership. Insist on a trial so you can make sure the culture inside the gym is going to work for you. I have outlined a pro and con comparison of my experience here. Pros: - It’s new and shiny although be it with cheesy colors. I think they copied Chuck E Cheeses color scheme. - They have an abundance of treadmills. - Plenty of TVs. - The staff is friendly when you first sign up. Not so much after. Cons: - There’s not enough circuit training equipment. You end up standing around waiting for people to finish while they play on their phones. A thirty minute workout is impossible. - Very dirty. It’s shocking how many people don’t wipe down the machines and many have poor hygiene. - The equipment appears to be the cheapest ever made. It squeaks like old equipment. I think its used and repainted with purple color to make it look new. - They have a hidden contract. They advertise $10 a month but’s more than double that when adding in hidden fees. Very misleading the way they market memberships. It ends up costing the same as every other gym when you add in all the hidden fees. Make sure you get a copy of the contract. - High crime. They had a rash of locker and car break-ins and to make matters worse they lie and try to cover it up! Dont bring your purse or any valuable items. - It’s a rough crowd. I wonder what percentage of members are convicted felons. - The trainers aren’t knowledgeable about medical conditions. Did they get their certification out of a Cracker Jack Box? - It’s run by poorly trained teenagers. The kids that run it cant be over the age of 20 years old and all they care about is sales. I get the feeling their minimum wage job is dependent on the number of new signups, not customer satisfaction. - There’s no accountability. The billing policy is unorganized. You get told one thing when you sign up but when a hidden fee hits your account, no one has a logical explanation. If you press them further they tell you there is nothing they can do and refuse to disclose the identity of the owners. - Bad parking after work. And it’s going to get worse if they lease out the space next door. Some bozo hit my car with their door and scratched it. The staff could do nothing for me. - Members can’t figure out how to flush a toilet and pee on the seat. I have never in my life frequented an establishment where women cant make the toilet. If you make a mess clean up after yourself and for god sake flush the toilet when your done! - The wifi is worthless. It just doesnt work so you end up burning up your data. - Tootsie roll wrappers are strewn about. Why would you have candy at the front desk at a gym? At least throw them away in the trash can instead of balling them up and throwing them on the floor. Overall Im not impressed and happy to be returning to my old gym. I wish them luck but this establishment is way over-hyped.

Its important to protect the integrity of these reviews so users get a fair assessment of businesses. If your are an employee or a member that has been bribed by Planet Fitness please refrain from writing reviews. Its not helpful. This is a newer location and is fairly well kept. Its run by overworked and underpaid teenagers so you can expect to get that type of service here. The big problem with this chain is the cancellation procedures and the bait and switch advertising. Greg Henson, the owner of this location knows its not $10 per month. Thats why the kids who answer the phones are forced to recite that ridiculous 5 minute script on incoming phone calls. Sort of a way to hedge against legal troubles that arise from deceptive marketing practices. But It taxes their time and adds to employees frustrations. They could simply do the right thing and advertise the real price per month with the hidden fees but apparently that doesnt work from a marketing perspective. The cancellation policy is designed to give members the run around in hopes the member will give up and forget about it for a few more months. If you want to go right to the source contact ABC Financial in Arkansas. But the cancellation procedures are set in place by the owner Greg Henson. Theres only so much ABC is authorized to do. If you want to try to get a hold of Greg, good luck. But if you get lucky you might be able to catch him at Heartland Tanning Supplies offices in Lees Summit MO where he works. I really do feel sorry for the employees.

This really is the arm pit of gyms. The staff is poorly trained. The 1 trainer they do employ for the 5,000 MEMBERS (seriously???) is in over his head and isnt very knowledgeable of medical conditions. I think they hire an $8 an hour trainer just so they can put unlimited fitness training on their postcards. He splits his time mopping the floors. Im not trying to knock the poor guy. Its more of a reflection of poor management thats only interested in volume of member sign ups. Everything this gym does is a marketing gimmick to sign up more members. Slapping lipstick on a pig. Im moving on. Just paying the buyout fee that they certainly didnt tell me about when I signed up so I can wash my hands of them and get the hell out of this miserable place.

Just wanted to thank everyone who has provided reviews.......you just saved me from making a HUGE mistake!!!! A fellow employee just recently joined and had been encouraging others to join as well. I will be sure to tell the more than 100 other employees, NOT TO JOIN, until they have read these reviews. It sounds like a horrible establishment and no one here can afford to be ripped off. I appreciate knowing what the true cost is, poor safety conditions and unclean equipment and facilities. Plus, at my age, I do NOT need to be treated poorly by a bunch of disgruntled teenagers. Will continue looking for other establishments which provide the same flexibility in hours but promote greater emphasis on customer satisfaction.

This place is a scam. I tried to cancel my membership because I was relocating and they force you to do it in person, which was an enormous hassle since I was in the middle of moving. Then when I did cancel, they billed me again, for an upgraded plan. When I called about the charges, they said there was nothing they could do, they couldnt see the charges and I would have to send in a bank statement with my banking account info. By mail. Meaning I would have to fix it at my own expense, and wait for their hypothetical billing department that doesnt provide customers with telephone, fax, or email contacts to respond. Unless you prefer losing money to losing weight, avoid this place.
