Went to STS in Hillsborough today so they could replace my headlight bulb which I provided. It was something I was prepared to do myself if I had been able to unscrew an extremely tight cap protecting the light. After giving me an estimated price of labor (about $53 for ~25 mins to change a bulb), I said okay since I wasnt able to do it myself. After six minutes (I timed how long it took because I used to work at an auto repair shop), the bulb was replaced and it was time to pay. One of the managers said, "Well, I see some time got shaved off. So it comes to $41." This was for a job that took 6, maybe 7 minutes TOPS to do and I provided the bulb. It was clear he was trying to take advantage of me for whatever reason. After I commented on the cost of labor not matching the amount of time it took to do the work, he changed the price and I paid the correct amount. Ive never had an issue with STS before but the gentleman gave me reason enough not to go there again.

I bought 2 new front tires to replace ones that were dry-rotted and 10 years old. In total, the job only came to $64 per tire (including the new tire, installation, balancing, and disposal of the old one) which I thought was very reasonable. My father also bought some new tires for his vehicle after I shared my positive experience and he liked the customer service and price too. They diagnosed a couple other issues with my old, worn-out vehicle which I declined to have repaired because I drive so little and they said no problem. Also, I came in a few minutes after their closing time and the mechanic was nice enough to turn the computer back on so I could pay for my tires and take my vehicle that night instead of having to come back the next day. Overall, the selection, prices, and customer service were excellent at this STS.

Same as STS. All the old crew seems to be there. I stopped going to STS after they failed to take responsibility after a tire they had mounted actually flew off the car a couple weeks later. Anyway, I thought it was safe but manager Chip is still there trying to tell me they cant open the engine compartment in my van. Or, in his words, that wasnt part of the quote so its going to cost more. Well I got a flathead and did it myself in about 2 min. So far, not good. Then, I get a call that one of my cylinder tubes is bent and they cant get my spark plug out. The issue here is that no one has changed those plugs before. It got bent because they bent it. They offered no solution to the bent tube. This place is as bad as it gets.

Service is good but they will try to take you for every single dime you have. Went there to do regular check up after my wife was taking car to quick lube places for a few years and they told me my car needed $1,600 worth of repairs and that my calipers are shot and need mediate replacement. Well you cannot drive with bad calipers so I told them to do it but they installed loaded preassembled calipers but charged me for every part separately. i overpaid by at least $200. I learned my lesson. Went to "Hillsborough transmission" on 206 and they told me my car is fine and does not need any repairs right now and after next oil change I will need new brake pads. STAY AWAY!!!

I have no problem with their work, however the appointment system is very flawed. I called for an appt. for an oil change & tire rotation. I got the # for Mavis in Hillsborough from the internet, on THEIR website. They said, bring it in, no problem. I drove to Mavis, and they said, I dont know if we can do it today, you have to leave it. It turns out that when calling, its a call center, not the actual store, and they pretty much tell anyone to just bring the car in. I didnt get the work done and let them know that this was wrong, and that they wasted a lot of my time. A lot more than I cared to explain here.

I think I got one of those bait and hook. Called in to check on the price of replacing front brake pads and was told something around $160ish... Dropped my car off and then got a call say it would cost around $200.... added resurfacing of rotors even though my rotors are fine and dont need to be resurfaced/ replaced. According to the STS rep, its standard practice to resurface the rotors (and add to my bill ofcourse!). Needed the car today so went ahead for it but not happy about it.

was checking before my long distance trip to upstate New York as well as an oil change, which was overdue. They were very nice and quick response even though it was call-in appointment on same day. I was very happy with its service, fast with good explanation.

Needed a headlight fixed on a Saturday afternoon. They were friendly and fixed the light right away. Ive been using STS Hillsborough for years because they are reliable and they always give me the costs up front to be sure there are no surprises.
