Id been a client of childs play on Nostrand Brooklyn NY for years before hearing a few of the stylist speaking in a way that wasnt appropriate for a childrens salon. That was about a year ago. Because my daughter has plans for the weekend and wanted her hair braided I agreed to make her an appointment for this evening. I left work early, pulled my daughter from school and headed over to arrive before 6pm. We arrived at 530pm said hello took a seat. Watched a bit of the Disney channel. There were only 2 stylist there at this point but when we arrived one of the 2 was having another inappropriate. Conversation on the phone. I excused it because my daughter was watching the television while on her iPad. I continued to wait patiently. At 7pm a stylist approached us and proceeded to explain that she normally leaves at 6pm but stayed to finish a client. She continued to explain that the other stylist has another client coming then we will be next. Mind you this is a Wednesday night and it was 7pm we were there for 1 1/2hrs. She said if I dont want to wait I should consider making another appointment. I remained in mommy mode and got my daughter dressed to leave. Not only was this another unpleasant experience at Childs Play they lost us as clients indefinitly. I wish them the best but they need to work on their professionalism and client service. Good luck.

My first time walking inside of childs play hair salon was so bad I wished I walked back out, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, First of all their greeting methods are very unprofessional. The lady who was sitting at the front desk Im assuming was the owner, had a very nasty attitude towards me and my sister. We are both two professional women and noticed this from the start. After being seated and waiting for at least an hour, my niece was finally called, every other hair stylist inside the salon were chatting horrible comments about other clients who wanted their kids hair done, who walked in, and walked out. My second and last time walking inside the salon, the stylist closest to the door did not want to get up and open the door for us, she sent someone who doesnt even work there to open the door, My sister greeted the stylist and never got a greeting returned, the stylist said no appointments and they werent taking in anymore customers, it was only 4 oclock on a Friday afternoon,we were told to come back 10 AM, and wait to be seen. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, NASTY ATTITUDES, I will never return. They are very disgusting. Never knew a childrens place to be this nasty.

If I could give this salon zero stars I would..sadly enough I havent set foot in this salon in over 2 years and I came to take a look at the reviews hoping Id see something different. Sadly enough its exactly what ran me and my business out there. The sad thing is the OWNER takes no responsibility nor does she care that business she and her husband built through hard work is being ruined by rude, unprofessional, and disgusting employees that have no vested interest in her business. They are there to collect their pay and it seems the owner is their to collect her percentage. Im so surprised people still patronize this business..What I do know is her client based has diminished tremendously and isnt growing based on the poor customer service and rightfully so. Get it together Childs Play!!! Be what you opened your doors to be!! PS..you still have that fatass Stacy running the show over there? Shes the cancer that should have been cut out long ago!!

i went there the day before and asked if i could bring my daughter and they said they dont take appointments they said that i could come at at 10:00 am or call at 10:00 am. So it was the day i had to bring my daughter to the hair salon and they said they open at 10 i passed their at about 9:00 and they were open and i told the girl that i would come back and she signed my daughters name and we came back and it was so crowded we waited for like an an hour and then we just left. when we got home i just called one of my friends and asked her if she could come over and do my daughters hair and she said "sure" there was one hairstyle i liked that was on childs plays flayer and i told my friend to do it and she did it perfectly. that was the worst experience ever DONT GO THEIR DONT WASTE YOUR TIME

Two years ago, I took my then 4 year old to this salon, and received what I considered to be excellent service. The front desk receptionist not sure if she was the owner or not was so polite and courteous. My daughter cried and screamed throughout the entire experience, (she is not a fan of getting her hair braided) no fault of the stylist and the stylist never complained. She actually braided her hair with my daughter resting on her lap, periodically wiping her tears and runny nose, and twisted her own body to get the hair done as opposed to moving her around. I am hoping to maker an appointment for tomorrow and I hope my experience is the same.

The whole entire staff is Unprofessional. And that is a big issue especially when people are trusting you with their kids hair. Also, the owner has no sense of customer service AT ALL. They all, AS A BUSINESS, lack communication and work ethic. I spent a lot of my daughters time, my time and money here with my child. And each time I go there, its like my child and I are strangers. No greeting, they hardly ever talk to the customer, or child. But do find time to unprofessionally gossip amongst the customer. Its distasteful. From one caring mother to another, DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE.

HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. I walked into this salon and there was no order! The door was buzzed so I walked in and asked the owner one question. Can she wash and braid my childs hair, she looked me up and down like I had 8 heads and said nah, appointments only. I didnt even say thank you, I hurried and got out of that disastrous place. UNPROFESSIONAL IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I dont know how this place is still open. After her attitude I rather do my daughters hair myself! I will Never come here again and I will tell my coworkers and friends to go elsewhere. Absolutely atrocious!

they are very unprofessional, i called in to get a job there and there was one young lady that just had a attitude for no reason. I spoke to one young lady the day before i was suppose to come in thinking she wil answer the phone but she didnt. so i called in explaining that i forgot i had something to do that day and the lady with the attitude, something was wrong with her. she was disrespectful and mean and i did not like it at all. never again will i walk or call that place.

Unprofessional is the word that sums it all up. the owner could care less about your business. She displays an attitude that is compared to sour milk. The stylist can braid hair good but they all can use a business course on professionalism also. My advice is directed to the owner. Get a receptionist, someone who has an inviting pleasant demeanor. You should just handle the books! Its more to a business than making money. Your customers should feel appreciated and welcomed!
