Even in the middle of winter, it’s nice and warm there! I started coming to KC’s fitness because I wanted a new workout, I didn’t want to actually box. I didn’t want to fight. That’s a relatively disrespectful thing to say to a group of martial arts experts who dedicate themselves to teaching self-defense to the community. So, I wasn’t in the right mindset from the start, but they were very accepting. Everyone helps. Everyone is patient. You learn so much in these classes. Don’t be afraid to start because you’ll start picking things up as soon as you enter the gym. The walls are even painted with words of wisdom. After just a few classes, and paying plenty of attention, I began seeing a larger lesson in motion. Techniques start connecting. Now I am able to learn from each and every person during the classes at KC’s Fitness. It’s an experience that I started with low aspirations and after only about a month I plan on making this a life-long activity.

KCs is a great space and better community of people of all ages, sizes, races, sexes, etc. Some gyms are full of nice people who arent really training that hard (say, YMCA or a Big Box cardio palace). Others are full of people training hard but also judgmental and hyper-competitive (wont name names, but you know who they are.) KCs is the best of both worlds. People come, train, work hard, but everyones doing their own thing at their own pace. The trainers train people, they dont yell at them like high school football coaches or some Jillian Michaels wannabes. Boxing classes are fantastic workouts and incredibly fun. Kettlebell classes are a quick, intense, cardio-plus-weights workout with a small group of fun people. Ive been working out here since 2010 and will continue to work out here until they close or I die.

KCs is a safe, intense, and motivating gym with martial roots that remembers the power of strong community and member loyalty. Boxing is our biggest class but there are also a number of other disciplines taught/practiced at the gym, e.g. Aikido, Muay Thai, Gi & No-Gi Jiujitsu, MMA, Greco-Roman Wrestling, American Wrestling, & Catch Wrestling. In addition to martial arts, the gym offers personal training & conditioning, kettle-bell classes, and a full gym with free weight, nautilus equipment, and treadmills & ellipticals. Come in and talk to a member or meet Kevin, Shawn, Max, Joe, Marissa, Seb, Adam, Steve or myself. Try a class and see if youre ready for a Greater you. -Warren

You can get as much out of KCs as you want to put into it. Ive attended classes here (beginners boxing, kettle bells, strength and endurance training) and been a facilities-only member. In both cases, you can expect courteous, knowledgeable staff that show up on time, and make sure youre not doing anything to injure yourself. Its not a dating scene, its not an abandoned warehouse. Its an honest-to-goodness gym, one of the few where it always seems evenly split between men and women.
