Even though I am only 16, as a whole, I enjoyed going to LA Fitness. There was many people, who was working out there that was willing to help me. The workers were adequately disciplined, and made my experience even better. I have started going to Henrietta, NY LA Fitness during October 2014, and unfortunately ended my membership in September 2015, because the $30/month was too expensive for my parents, even though my Dad goes there. However, on the negatives of my experience there, I partially agree with Sangz Don. For some specific(s), the employees failed to meet your needs. For example, when I signed up 1 year ago, the employees informed me that they were going to offer me a fitness "test", to see where I am at, and train me from there. I accepted, but however they never administered the test to me :/ and even to this day, I am wondering - Why? Fortunately, Rahim, one of the workers who trained me for free, was there to help. Another negative that I experienced, was the staff members specifically. About the staff, I 100% agree with Hotab12. The reason I agree with Hotab12, goes back to my early months with Henrietta, NY La Fitness. When I first started, the first person I met was Anthony, Rahim, a Woman, and a various # of staff members. I didnt know the womans name, but I knew that she was a hair stylist. Months pass. At some point during the time stretch between Late Winter 2015 - Early Spring 2015, due to my schoolwork, I didnt go to LA Fitness. Weeks later, I returned. I could point out now, but at the time, I didnt notice. But what has happened was that all of the Staff has disappeared, and a new Staff replaced them. It didnt bother me, though. The staff does change, and I remember all of the staff, before I left in September. But theres a 50% chance that the old staff will leave, and a new staff will be replaced. I dont know why. Even though I remember the staff, I dont recall seeing an Old Woman Worker, like Sangz Don is talking about. Maybe the staff has changed, again. Overall, I enjoyed being at LA Fitness. I would it 5 stars, but Im not, because of the problems discussed by Sangz Don, and Hotab12; that I also experienced.

Signed up for this place about a month ago. Came in between 530 and 6pm to sign up. Another business woman ahead of me arrived at the same time. The guy at the desk had us both write down our names on a scrap piece of paper and said someone would be with us shortly. He must have left his shift about 20 minutes after because I saw him say bye. I one employee signing someone up and 2 other guys that looked like they were working on the computer systems. I sat and after about 30 minutes the lady in front of me left in a huff without saying anything. I went to the desk after shortly after and asked how long it would be. No one seemed to know I was waiting or where the only person on staff they said could sign me up was. They asked if I could sit and wait until he came back. I waited almost another half hour. I saw the guy come back and finishing signing someone up and then make small talk with another member while the girls joked around with the guys at the front desk. I finally approached the desk pissed off and the signup guy nabbed me...saying he didnt know I was waiting. Complete lack of communication from the staff. Luckily the guy got me signed up fast and was apologetic. Since Ive been going there it is pretty busy when I go at 530, but you can somehow figure out how to get your workout done. Atmosphere is not intimidating. One huge dislike is there is no sanitizer spray for equipment which is gross. I kind of figured this type of experience because I heard a lot of negative stuff when they came to town after RAC closed, mainly regarding the customer service. Aside from all that stuff I love the juice bar! Great friendly staff!

A decent place to workout but management issues abound. Often met at check-in by someone who takes your ID without acknowledging you. 9/10 members are parked on machines, staring at their phones, giving attitude when you ask if you could take turns while they text. Mens locker room, bathroom and showers disgusting. Trash strewn floors, overflowing refuse containers, dirty sinks, bathrooms reek of urine always. Wet paper towels on every surface. Bizarre lack of sauna etiquette; whats up with guys who use it fully clothed, including stinking sneakers, staring at cellphones? Their clothes are soaked with sweat and stink and their shoes are off-gassing (heat plastic and rubber and thats what happens.) Sauna also used as a clothes dryer, with hanging sweat clothes and socks drying next to the heating element. Is this a Rochester thing, because it is foul. The never-ending piped-in EDM is maddening. Management is hands off, apparently afraid to enforce etiquette for fear of offending unruly members. If you can get past the unsanitary conditions and ill-mannered staff and clientele, its fine.

Disappointed in the cleanliness - or lack thereof! Bathrooms often have clogged toilets with wet toilet papers on the ground. Gross. I would have expected more. Planet Fitness has been much cleaner in my experience and significantly less cost. Makes me wonder what we pay for. Water fountains often broken and facing the wrong way so that you get wet when pressing the button. The gym is VERY hot temperature-wise, uncomfortably so. Basic amenities seem to be missing, like easy cleaning wipes for the machines. I often go to a machine to find the water bottle holders filled with tissues, water, or other garbage! Come on guys. The LA fitness in my old town was SO much better run and better kept - it felt so much more high class than this garbage pit.

The equipment is usually dirty and often broken. The gym is too crowded to effectively work out on weekdays after work or after dinner. The bathrooms and locker rooms are absolutely disgusting. They smell horribly from too many people using them and not enough upkeep. The training staff rotates out constantly. None of them seem to know what they are doing and must be guided by some set of workouts they are given. Its almost as if they try to use obscure excersices to make it look like the trainers have some knowledge that everyone else at the gym doesnt have. The training is outrageously expensive on top of that They have a shake bar but the shakes are expensive. The gym will sometimes have a horrible mildew smell that lasts days.

I am moving out of state and have no need for a gym membership anymore. I went into the Greece location and they said that only the operations manager can do it mon-fri 9-5. I work 8-5 so that wouldnt work for me. I called Henrietta location, and after being put on hold for 10 minutes, I was told that I can cancel my account online on the LA Fitness website. When I went to the website it stated that this is not possible. Im not one to complain, but this definitely left a bad taste in my mouth for the gym.

I chose this gym because it was close to my house, it was bigger then some and had a pool and a dry sauna. Thats all I wanted. However, when I went to sign up for the membership the trainers started to ask questions about my goal and what I want out of the gym, which is grate but then they started by saying that we would benefit from trainers and that pretty much I wouldnt need the gym and that all I need is them. After I told them no to their crazy 200-400 $ a month. This by the way took about 2 HOURS
