One of the most horrific experiences of my life. My daughter cried herself into hysterics over being dropped off here. I tried to convince myself- (and the staff did as well) that she was just adjusting to a new environment. After a week- the crying was worse- she began to cry in her sleep at night and beg not to go! I would have to wake her up to calm her down. I frantically began looking for somewhere new. The main teacher was one of the coldest, rudest, most insensitive women I have ever met in my entire life. She gave me the creeps. I just had a mothers intuition about this woman, that I couldnt trust her. My daughter was terrified of her. When I told the staff that I believed it was their teacher- and my gut feeling- they told me that I was basically insane and making it up. They were extremely defensive and rude. They reminded me that I they had a 2 week dropping notice- so I was responsible for an additional 2 weeks payment. I was so repulsed. The morning that I pulled my daughter out of JLU- she had not slept through the night from crying. I had woken we up 3 times to calm her down. I couldnt stomach it anymore. I know there was something awful going on here- but Ill never know what it was. I took time off from work and school and eventually started my daughter at the YMCA. She never cried once at the Y. The staff was warm and understanding and extremely welcoming. Immediately- I felt at ease. That night- my daughter began sleeping through the night again! We have stayed at the Y for the last 3 years. My daughter still asks me if she can stay longer. I have never forgotten this horrible place. About the children I saw crying in the parking lot. My daughters night terrors. The look on her face. I know something awful was happening here when I was not present and Ill never be able to prove what it was. While there are many people who have enjoyed their time here- I will always warn parents about this place.

This daycare was the subject of a CPS investigation in the Spring of 2016, that involved a teacher forcefully closing the eyes of students that would not nap. This teacher would also press on the stomachs of these students. CPS determined that there were grounds to these accusations. Unfortunately, the owner of the daycare decide to maintain the employment of this teacher instead of looking out for the best interest of the children. The owner did not inform parents that the teacher was the subject of the investigation or the incident occurred at JLU, only that a child was the subject of the CPS investigation. We did not learn that our daughter was being victimized by the teacher until being contacted by CPS, after CPS interviewed her. We removed our daughter from JLU when the owner refused to remove the teacher from the classroom. It appears that the owner was doing damage control. Once the investigation was underway. The owner changed the napping policy, to allow students to get up after 20 minutes of laying on the mat. Prior to this incident, we signed a waiver stating that our daughter does not nap and is allowed to skip napping. Despite this waiver the offending teacher felt it necessary to force our daughter to nap. Also, the owner placed additional supervision in the classroom in an attempt to ensure the the offending teacher did not apply force to any other students. Furthermore, the owner reduced the hours of the offending teacher. New York State Office of Children and Family Services has posted violations issued to JLU These positive reviews were posted after JLU attempted to get my review removed from various sights. Do your research to keep your children safe.

Being a provider of Special Education support to young children ages Birth- 5 years old, I am in and out of A LOT of daycares and preschools on a daily basis. Ive been witness to so many different curriculums, environments, teaching styles and approaches to working with young children! I highly recommend JLU to the families I work with who are considering sending their children to daycare/preschool because of their loving, community environment which supports children of all abilities. A classroom should feel like a family! They maintain an accepting, safe and caring environment above all the rest! The dedication provided to their curriculum AND the building of social-emotional skills are what will help their children be successful in their futures. The staff at JLU are dedicated, educated professionals who many of which have been with Leslie, the Director, since Day 1 or left previous locations in search of this supportive environment. Those who have left, have done so with prayers and encouragement as they went and pursued to further their educations, build their own families, or spread their knowledge they learned in this setting onto other locations. They didnt leave because of dissatisfaction in their jobs, under-appreciation, or a feeling of not having support as in many other daycare work environments.

We are returning parents to JLU. Our oldest daughter, now in elementary school, attended the Pre-K+ program. Our second daughter was in the Toddler program and now is in Pre-K+. Our wee little boy is currently in the infant program. My husband and I have been very pleased with the nurturing environment found throughout JLUs programs. We were very happy to learn that our oldest was ahead of her kindergarten classmates regarding letters, numbers, and social skills thanks to effective JLU teachers. Both JLU teachers and staff are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about kids. Even though I have three children, I often go the JLU teachers with questions about parenting. They always provide great advice and keen insight. Additionally, if you are a person of faith and you want your kids to learn basic Christian values and practices, then this is the school for you. I love that prayer and talking about God is normalized throughout the day. It a safe place for us faith-minded parents (my husband and I are Catholic) to leave our children knowing that the values we teach at home are being reinforced at JLU. (Theyre also very affordable if you take advantage of the full day. Our kids get breakfast, lunch, and a snack!)

I joined JLU Child care six months ago. Before I was a stay at home mom of a toddler. I couldnt imagine a better work place. We are a big family to up lift and support each other! I have never felt so at home. The Owner, director and staff love and truly care about every child and each other. I love watching the children lean, grow, and love each other and have a heart for God! I cant say enough for how much JLU has changed my life! My son also receives care here. Before my son first started at JLU he was shy and didnt talk. I was concerned about his development. Now only being there for 6 months he has grown and become the most outgoing child I know and loves to learn. His vocabulary has grown so much that I can actually understand what he wants and says. He also wants to be super helpful with chores. He says waits to eat until we pray and says Amen! Washes his hands and takes care of his trash. I am super impressed. It has really let his personality shine! He has learned and grown so much in such a short time! I would and have recommend them to anyone looking for a loving safe place to work and for their child!
