We just returned from a group tour that Virginia led to Budapest and then an Avalon river cruise up the Danube to Nuremburg. For pre-cruise part of the tour we spent 3 days in Budapest and had excellent tours led by Szofia, our local guide. The location of our hotel, the Hilton Buda couldnt have been better, adjacent to many of the interesting sites on Buda Hill. This part of the tour was fully organized by Virginia. The first 3 days of the river cruise were very pleasant and interesting. On the 4th day, I experienced intense abdominal pain first thing in the morning, requiring an ambulance ride to a hospital in Wels, Austria, about 30 minutes away. Virginia was very responsive in helping with our situation, contacting the travel insurance company and finding a hotel room for my wife while I was in the hospital. She kept in regular contact with us via text and phone, constantly offering to help in any way. After 2 days in the hospital, we were able to take the train to where the ship was docked in Roth, Germany and rejoined our group the night before our early morning departure the next day in Nuremberg. Virginia was also very helpful tracking down my tablet which I had absent-mindedly left in the airline lounge of the Schipol airport during our trip over. We certainly plan to work with Virginia for future European travel.

Weve worked with Virginia Barthel on two major vacations already, and plan to use her again. The first trip was to Scotland and Ireland over the course of 10 days, and the second trip was to Japan and Hawaii over the course of 3 weeks. Each time, she extensively interviewed my husband and I for our perfect vacation plans, which include questions like "Do you like each day to be planned out and detailed, or do you prefer some days where things are left open to discover on your own." When it came down to actually being on these unforgettable trips, it really felt like they were made just for us. My husband and I have different tastes - he would love to sit on a beach, and I love to explore cities and cultures. So pleasing us both is a true feat, and shes managed to do it twice now. We cant wait for our next trip to be planned by Virginia. The client service is stellar. When you save all year for a special vacation, she ensures just that: its special.

Absolutely fantastic. I had a complicated schedule with multiple international stops, and Virginia booked the perfect set of flights for me. She also advised me on train options for shorter city-to-city travel and answered my (many) questions. But most memorable: after my flight from Europe-US was cancelled (and everyone else had to spend the night at a hotel), she pulled some strings and got me on a flight an hour later. Shes a travel magician.
