In the near two years Ive done business with Orbit, though they have a great selection of entertainment...they have yet (in two years +) attempted to retrieve movies / documentaries when they said they would. Mark is the owner and has been made aware, many times, of some of these requests and continues to ignore his customers even when promised to handle these requests personally. As a fellow small business owner and Investor to the community whole, I find empty promises to be hypocritical vs. monetary desire...I find myself a "Special Customer / Valued" for all the wrong reasons. There is more to consumerism than just Sales / Profit...its acquiring PUBLIC TRUST, and my overall trust / confidence of OBIT DVD is Failing at / on many levels.

Im saddened to be writing this. If you had asked me a month ago I would have told you how awesome this place was, but after recent events I must leave a one star review. We have been members here at the 25 dollar a month level for the last eighteen months. Apparently, if you keep DVDs out longer what the clerk believes to be "reasonable" (3 weeks) then its okay for them to be rude to you and close your account "forever"! Seriously? The fee was bank drafted monthly. They were making a fortune from the three DVDs we had out. You would think a locally owned video store would care more about customer service. Has anyone been to a Blockbuster lately? No? Precisely my point.

We love Orbits selection of DVDs, everything from documentaries, John Waters, foreign, and music; plus they have a subscription plan that allows you to rent either 1, 2, or 3 movies at a time and return them when you are ready for new movies without worrying about late fees. On the new releases they keep waiting lists so you dont have to make three trips before you get the new release you cant wait to view. Finally, they are a local business that brings us Walk In Theater in the summer and plenty of great music all year round. Forget about lackluster Blockbuster; visit Orbit or TV Eye, their sister store on Lexington.

I have been a member of some great video stores (Videots in Santa Monica , CA comes to mind) but when all is said and done Orbit is probably the cream of the crop. I knew I was in love when I discovered that they not only had a Criterion Collection section, but that they had every title (minus 1) in its catalog. They have oddball stuff, cult classics and just about anything else you can think of. A friendly and helpful staff rounds things out. The people of Asheville are lucky to have such a gem in a time when most video stores are closing their doors forever, leaving us with pitiful options like Netflix, etc.

There are not many local video stores left in the world. This place is much fun. They have a great selection and the staff is friendly and happy to make suggestions and talk films. They also have used movies and video games and comics and board games. Used board games!!! Ive never seen that. While we were there, recently, they filled us in on a membership deal where you pay a few bucks and can have one movie out at all times. Way good deal. This is a great way to support our local economy and keep West Asheville fresh. Skip that box and the illegal free streaming and head over to Orbit!

Ive yet to go into Orbit DVD and say "Do you have such-and-such a movie?" and them say "No." If its on DVD, they likely have it, from mainstream films to indie movies to foreign flicks to TV shows. Even if its out-of-print, they often have it. If a movie was released on Blu-ray over the last few years, theyll likely have it in that format, and they have an excellent selection of games for the latest generation gaming systems. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, and the prices are fantastic, even for new releases.

Absolutely the best place in Asheville to get movies. All the same titles as the corporate mega stores (redbox) AND they rent them for the same price. Theyve literally held special releases for me (with in a reasonable amount of time) on hundreds of occasions. Lola below is clearly mistaken and her experience is definatly an isolated event. Try calling the owner if you have a problem before bashing a tiny little locally owned business on the airways......

Great adventures and a haul of collectible treasure! This place is golden! The staff and super friendly and helpful even if the place is ridden with avid and voracious cinéphiles to the brim. They are extremely efficient and deliver the best deals for their local fanbase. Anything you think you cant find, why not try looking here? 10/10 will go back again and again. Good place to find a deal on Criterions too. Also, a decent comic book selection.

Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Recently traded some old/extra comics and got a surprisingly fair offer for them. I buy ALL of my horror blu rays here. They will even sell you rentals off the shelves if you want them for your collection. Although i had some movies special ordered over 4 weeks ago and they have yet to come in, Im sure its just an error on the suppliers end, so patience is key and will still give the review 5 stars.

We called to check to see if our son was still shopping and the store personnel said we called alot, well were in there all the time, last week we spent over a $100 dollars alone. Thats just rude and uncalled for and we will not offer our business any more in the future. I wouldnt recommend anyone supporting a business that is not customer friendly.

I went in to resurface red faction guerrilla and I asked them if they could fix it they said yes and charged me $3.50. Then when I got home to play the game my xbox would not launch it at all! I could have bought another working copy for the same price on amazon.

This is the best store Ive been to in a looooong time, probably since 1997. Friendly and helpful staff, fixed a messed up MLB2k12 disk in no time and had some pretty great deals on dvds too. Definitely going back!

Has everything you could possibly think of and more. Really appreciate that they are still in business given the climate of online movie rental options.

Love this place. In a world of Netflix, it is nice to come and browse hard copies of movies, check them out, or go buy some used DVDs.
