I had wanted to learn how to dance for years but always felt that Id be too rigid, nervous or awkward to do so. I finally decided to give a few introductory lessons at the Arthur Murray studio in Durham a shot. Now that I have a year of knowledge and experience under my belt, I can look back and say that I definitely had no idea what I was doing when I walked in the door, but one of the many wonderful things about this studio is that I never felt anything but warmth and support while tripping over my own feet. The staff are all unbelievably kind, knowledgeable and flexible in their teaching methods. Whenever Im slow to pick up a new move or technique, my instructor Jill always has a new approach or analogy to get me past whatever block Im encountering. Having learned from each of the other instructors at the studio as well, I can say they all share this great teaching skill and complement each other and their students extremely well. In addition to lessons, the studio offers many optional social, performance and competitive dance opportunities. When I first started, I expected not to have the confidence to take these opportunities, but, thanks to the excellent instruction and an incredibly supportive community of other students that are quite happy to dance with you even if you can only fumble through the basic step of a new dance. Learning to dance at this studio has absolutely been one of the best decisions Ive made in the past year, and I highly recommend stopping by to check it out if you have any interest in dancing at all.

From the moment I set foot into this studio, I felt welcome and comfortable. I assumed it was a transient thing that would go away over time. But one year later and I still look forward to all of my dance lessons. The staff are so warm and engaging that they make it easy for a newcomer to feel welcome. That is the key to creating a comfortable setting in which to learn dance. Its easy to feel awkward or embarrassed while learning and they approach all learners without judgment and with the recognition that were there to enjoy ourselves, as well as to learn. I am easily frustrated at times and all of the instructors are incredibly patient and know when to shift the focus and come back to a topic later. In group lessons and at parties, the other dancers are also wonderful people, very forgiving, and all recognizing that were there to have a good time. Its goodness all around. The folks at Arthur Murray Durham have introduced me to dance in a way thats transformed my life. I couldnt be happier! You should join, too.

We all have many choices for dance lessons in the triangle but this studio is above the rest. Incredibly talented and accredited instructors (Chad, Anne, Barnabas, Jill and Neomi), beautiful large space, warm welcoming atmosphere. Ive danced out of other studios in the past and with wonderful instruction but Chad and his team by far are the best. Durham Arthur Murray is a community, besides Friday night parties (which are always fun) we do outings together, its nothing for us to surprise a fellow student with an impromptu Wobble Flash Mob for a birthday. Showcases, mini Showcases, Team Matches, (kudos Neomi and Team Salsa Picante), private lessons, group lessons and assisted coaching lessons; which I have just started and love. So if youre looking to learn some dances, improve what you already know or become a competitive student this is your studio!

There is no better place to learn to dance than Arthur Murray Durham! I have been taking dance lessons at Arthur Murray Durham for over three years. It has grown into a wonderful place to learn dancing, especially when the new owner Chad took over several years ago. He hires only the best dance instructors who display a welcoming and friendly attitude while they have expertly taught my husband and myself dancing. The evening group lessons are excellent additions to the individual lessons, and come free. Most of all, every Friday the dance studio hosts a dance where we get to show off what we learned and is a great time for all. Dance instructors circulate and help those who are new. Arthur Murray Durham has added a great deal of joy to both my and my husbands life.

My wife and I have been attending Arthur Murray Dance Studio for three years now. I have been to other dance studios in the area and I have found Arthur Murray Dance Studio to be the best. The instructors are highly skilled, patient, and know how to teach. Everyone is very pleasant to work with and all the instructors are great. We switch instructors, from a man to a woman and both can dance both sides of the dance perfectly as leader or follower. I also enjoy the evening group lessons as well as the Friday party. My wife is in complete agreement with me about Arthur Murray. I have several friends that started there and they have remained as very satisfied customers. At any dancing event we are completely confident that we can look marvelous.

This IS THE place to learn how to dance. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and works well together to make your experience both comfortable and fun. There are group classes most weeknights, and a party every Friday night. It feels very personal to me here, as the staff is very supportive and encouraging in my dance education. Ive been here fours years now, and have really enjoyed every lesson, class and event. What is comforting to know, is that my dollars are being spent learning to dance to a world recognized and respected syllabus that is the standard for the American Style of Ballroom dancing, and not just a set of made up figures, routines and methods.
