Planet fitness ought to be the most ancient organization in 2015. I lived in Wilmington, NC for close to a year and used their gym. Ive been out of that city since March of 2013 and i still cant cancel my membership. I called and was told i needed to send a written letter to them. I did that twice between March of 2013 and May 2015. I had called several times and they said they never received it. So for over 24 months i was paying for a facility thats over 1200 miles from where i live. Its $10/mth so sometimes i forget that im still been charged. In May i decided to send another letter, this time i tracked it. For whatever reason someone told me it wasnt there but i finally got hold of someone who said they "just" received it after 3 weeks. I sent letter immediately after they charged my account. Now. im been told that i still owe them money when in actuality they should owe me over $240 for the past 24+ months. Had to cancel my cards because of them last month (June). I usually dont write bad reviews but im sick and tired of these people. I wish there was a "0" star rating.

Ive sent two letters and an email trying to cancel my membership yet somehow it never manages to get cancelled. Oddly enough, my letters arent returned to me either. Hmmmm. They wont cancel by phone. I cannot change or delete my payment method online and they are charging to a card that expired in Jan 2015 which doesnt even seem possible. So Ill spend the money to send it certified this time even though I was told that wasnt necessary. Point being...it should never have been this difficult in the first place. And after reading other reviews it appears this is a common tactic of theirs. So if you join just be prepared to be a lifelong member whether you want to be or not. NOT HAPPY AT ALL

After belonging to a number of gyms over the past 30 + years the experience so far at Planet fitness has been a positive one. Unlike many gyms where the staff only stand behind the counter. In mine and my wifes short time as members we have seen on numerous occasions staff wiping down equipment and refilling paper towel dispensers. There is more than adequate space unlike some of the more cramped up gyms where you spend more time waiting on the limited amount of equipment. The only area of improvement that would be nice is a little more attention to detail in the cleanliness of the mens locker room.

Although the work out equipment was exceptional the mens locker room is disgusting. Just today i went through there and a man was haulking and spitting in the shower WHILE HE SHOWERED. it was pretty disgusting. aside from that nobody judges and its a good environment. They have adequate room and spacing and staffing 24/7 so thats a plus. if your the kind of person who wants to work out and not be bothered or cramped this is your place although i would avoid the mens locker room if your a man, womens i have no idea about. Good gym. Doesnt deserve more than a good.

I moved to Wilmington NC from Charlotte NC and went into there club. One of the employees said he could transfer my membership in the club.(at the time I had no internet). They did not transfer my membership they just started a new one. I have been paying 2 Planet Fitness monthly money for a membership. When I call them about it, it took over a month to come up with a no they will not reimburse my lost money it was to much money. I feel this is very bad business. What a joke and a great way of taking advantage of people

Excellent gym, with complete fitness training circuit. Redundancy of equipment means that there is plenty of equipment even when it is crowded. Even though the gym is huge, and every inch is occupied with equipment for maximum fitness usage, there is enough room to work out without interrupting your training. The place is very clean, the staff friendly and helpful. Currently, it is the only 24 hour gym in Wilmington which makes it the only choice for dedicated gym addicts and serious fitness training.

Planet Fitness at Kerr Ave. is by far the best in the Wilmington area. All the staff are attentive and meticulous about making sure my experience here is above average. Every time I come to work out I am greeted with a friendly smile and a well full goodbye. The cleanliness of the gym is always being improved because there is always someone on the floor cleaning and checking on guests. I would highly recommend Planet Fitness at Kerr Ave. to all my friends.

It gets very busy here. Sometimes some of the machines are down, but in general there are plenty of treadmills, etc to work on even if you go right at 5:30-6:00 which is their busiest time after work. I like the environment and feel comfortable working out here. I go twice a week every week. I enjoy jogging on the treadmill and being able to watch some tv while doing so, or reading a book. It is very enjoyable and the staff is helpful and nice.

Ive been a member since March of 2013 and I love it. I usually go in the middle of the night or early mornings and the night staff is amazing! Pablo who is now a manager used to work nights and Matt who currently works nights are the best example of positive friendly customer service. They always go the extra mile and ask about your day and actually remember your name and stuff about you! I would not go anywhere else personally!

Needs some cameras cause drug deals and breaking and entering in the parking lot no security the big guys go for the weights not the customers. The cops think there should be more cameras so they dont have too post up there much more crime to bat. Just let the city link to your camera system if you ever get one since you plan on expanding next door

The staff are very friendly and it is never too crowded. The only problems I have are with the corporation, they never tell you up front that it takes 3 months of membership to transfer home gym or that if you getting the black card, there will be a $58 cancellation fee if you are a member for less than 12 months.

Its the ONLY gym Ive ever stuck with. It has a variety of machines, awesome air conditioning (stays cool while youre hot), CLEAN, open 24/7, not expensive to join, tanning, message, hydo beds and showers. It truly is a great gym....Kerr Ave location---Not sure about the other Planet Fitness gyms

For the most part I never had any issues working out here. Most of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. However, there were some management issues and I felt like that got IN THE WAY of my workouts at the time. I would go back and maybe I will again someday.

Granted, its situated in a slightly rougher area of town, but this gym is a little gem! Great staff and machines. Everyone is friendly and the place is clean. The trademark judgment free attitude really does exist here! Catch them on special for the best deals!

Ive been a member here for a few years now, and they have such an awesome staff! They are super willing to help out with anything you need. The gym is always very clean and well equipped! I highly recommend coming to this specific location!
