Wednesdays at the Hills Market Downtown are now bearable, thanks to the wonderfully talented Chef Kuukua. If you like rice, sauce and flavor, you will LOVE Asempe Kitchen. The meals are far more complex than that, but if youre afraid of new food like i sometimes am, dont be! Dont know what to get? its cool, Kuukua will pick something for you and itll be DELICIOUS. During my first visit, she took the time to explain the dishes and asked me my name. shes not forgotten it since. Whenever i visit Asempe for lunch, Kuukua takes the time to explain her dishes and makes me believe she cooked all this food for me. i highly recommend trying them at Platform brewing on Mondays (for now) and Wednesdays for lunch at the Hills. Ask for the plantains and tell her Rian (Ryan) sent you!

I cant say enough good things about Kuukua and her delicious cooking! I met her at a Souper Tuesday at The Kitchen, where she was serving a lightly spiced peanut soup with a silky broth. You cant miss her wonderful, friendly smile, and after talking with her about Ghana for a few minutes she offered to give me some delicious fufu the next day which I hadnt had in years. I will happily recommend Asempe Kitchen to anyone who is curious to try Ghanaian cuisine, and Ill definitely be looking for it to pop up around Columbus!

Asempe never disappoints. The food is wonderful and theres always something new to try. The Moko hot paste has made me a believer in spicy food; it can be flavorful and not just "hot". The spinach, red-red (plantains!) and ground nut soup are my top three favorites, but everything I try becomes a new favorite. There really is nothing like Asempe in Columbus. Plus, Chef Kuukua and her mom are warm, welcoming and fun to be around. Expand your culinary horizons with Asempe.

Asempe Kitchen is one of my favorite new foodie things in Columbus. Their food is delicious and unique, and theyre always bringing something new to the table (no pun intended). The plantains and red-red are my favorite dishes, but Ive never tried something there I didnt like. The bread alone is worth the trip. I highly recommend checking out their weekly pop-up at the Hills for a good mid-week lunch break!

Kuukua is wonderful. She really cares about her clients and wants to make sure they really experience African Culture and History through her food. So to me and my guest that had the pleasure to taste the delicious food, we felt extremely emotionally connected. I defiantly recommend working with her and allowing her to cater any event.

Kuukua was awesome/kind enough to invite me to one of her events where I got a chance to try her food for the first time. It was great! This is the 3rd time eating her food and never disappoints. The Banku and Waakye is must try.

The best. Chef Kuukuas spicy red paste is unbelievably good. All the food is fresh and flavorful. Nothing else like it in the city.
