It only takes one bad experience to discourage a child forever. I am so upset with the treatment of my daughter that I feel guilty for taking her to NorthPoint Dance Academy without doing more research. She was assigned to a particular class level by two different NorthPoint staff members –one when I called in to learn about the facility and one when she came in to try a class. She attended a trial class and was made to feel totally inadequate by the instructor, Tiffany, and other classmates. I introduced my daughter to Tiffany when coming into the class and shared her experience level. I looked into the class 4-5 times to see my daughter off by herself but attempting moves. I wondered if Tiffany, as the instructor, was interacting with her. I did not see the instructor near her at any point. I did not go into the class because I felt it was important for my daughter to work through being new. She is a very strong child and has a lot of experience in new situations without encountering issues. After the class my daughter came out and was ready to burst into tears, asking to "just go home." I asked if the instructor had even talked to her and she said “no.” When we got outside she burst into tears saying she “felt so stupid.” 1) Other girls were whispering when she tried moves alone and Tiffany noticed but didnt say anything to my daughter OR the other students. 2) The instructor didnt approach her AT ANY POINT. I called the office on our drive home, and the staff was polite and offered to have the Owner return a call. The Owner called about an hour later and said that this has never happened before and that the instructor was in tears over the matter. She also said that my daughter was not at the right skill level and the instructors should not force a relationship with a new student. I am in the teaching field myself and when one of the adults in my class struggles, regardless of level of expertise or the difficulty of the subject matter, I reach out to TEACH and attempt to engage the student. This can be a learning experience for all. Any instructor working with children should be encouraged to do the same. This may have never happened before at NorthPoint, but it happened to my daughter. The instruction and management response were both VERY inappropriate for a facility that teaches children.

My daughter attended Northpointe Dance Academy for nine years. She went there at age nine with a dream to dance at The Juilliard School in New York City, and left at age 18 to attend the school of her dreams. She could have never done it without the help, knowledge and support from a dance studio she calls home. NorthPointe Dance Academy was more than just a building to go to for dance....it literally became a second home to my daughter where she could learn about dance and about life in a caring, loving, nurtouring, safe, fun environment. The teachers and owners are the people she writes about in college essays and papers on why they are her mentors, her heroes, her role models, her inspiration and her best friends. They have created an atmosphere where hard work, dedication, trust, warmth and love are found in every room, at every level and every age. It is such a pleasure to walk into the building and look into the rooms to see SO MANY little ones as they create, play, share, learn and execute the fundamentals of dance while laughing, giggling, spinning, singing, dancing, prancing and always smiling!!!!! The older classes are at times more focused and serious, but you can feel the bond between the teachers and students as they share their passion for dance. This dance studio was able to introduce my daughter to famous choreographers, dancers, other dance teachers and studios around the country that helped to further her dance education. They discussed, researched, watched others, and took every action possible to assure that each dancer was getting exactly what they needed for their individual growth. Not every dancer is bound for Juilliard, New York City or even a career in dance, but every little girl and boy would benefit from the talented and loving teachers and staff at NorthPointe Dance Academy. I would think that every parent would feel lucky to have their child learn and grow in such a warm and loving environment. I am thankful to NorthPointe everyday!!!!!

We have been at NorthPointe Dance Academy for three years and we absolutely love it. Having been at two other local studios, we knew we needed someplace that could provide a variety of opportunities for our daughter. NDA has not disappointed us! The teachers all have amazing backgrounds and are phenomenal with the students. They strive to bring out the potential in every child, knowing how to balance helpful corrections with heartfelt compliments. Our daughter chose to move up to the competitive team when she realized dance was her passion and we are thrilled to be part of the dance team family. We love how the studio brings in special guest teachers from across the country, plans special team building events, and provides students and their families the opportunity to participate in a philanthropic endeavor each year. Our experience has taught us that NDA isn’t just turning out beautiful, well-trained dancers, but beautifully well-rounded individuals. As a parent what more could you ask for?

Sucks! Dont do it ! I danced for 7 years at performing arts and decided to switch to north pointe. When I went to sign up the lady talked me into doing competition. I was so exited to dance company and it went well for a month or so. Yesterday when I went into class my teacher (zoica)made some comments that were so inappropriate "you try your best. It no good". " its not your fault its who ever put you in senior" well zoica that was the whole staff at auditions. Not only were these comments uncalled for but I was not at fault. I was 11 years old at auditions which is jr age but keep in mind in 57" so because Im tall the thought I find in better with sr. it is not my fault my skill isnt the same NOT ONLY DID THEY EMBARRASS ME BUT ALSO STOLE MY LOVE FOR DANCE

We switched to NorthPointe after going to another dance studio for two years. I was reluctant because I thought all dance studios would be the same and this one was farther from my home. What I like so far is they are really well organized and keep the parents well informed about what was going on. I also like that the spring show will be broken up into small groups of a few classes so the show isnt too long. Miss Katie keeps the classes for the girls fun with upbeat music and games, but still teaches technique and vocabulary. She is available to the parents after each class and asks us if we have any questions. So far Im really impressed with the studio and my daughter is really enjoying herself.

My daughter has been at Northpointe for 2.5 years now and loves it. Miss Jessica is a wonderful teacher and keeps class fun. She works with all of the students to make sure they improve from class to class. The studio itself is bustling and fills the halls with dance moms and dads. Each room is clean and well kept. The recitals are well managed and costumes are beautiful. I also love the way that Northpointe integrates the older girls into the younger girls classes and recitals. Its a great way to inspire future dancers. Try Northpointe and you wont be disappointed.
