I would give (no stars) but I dont think this review would post without one star. I have been driving for 45 years in many states. I have never been treated so disrespectfully as I was treated at A & M. I am a mature single female and I know that is why I was lied to and treated like I did not have a clue about auto body repairs. I had spoken to Tom (the current manager) on the phone for about 12 minutes before I went in to the shop. He was very negative and not willing to answer my specific and technical questions about the repair to my SUV. I am a computer technician and fully understand mechanical behaviors and how software estimates are generated. I had a previous quote for my car; but the deductible was in court for several months. I did win the deductible. I brought the previous quote with me for comparison. I decided not to have the alignment done, so that would be a minus $90.00 from the total. There were no parts included in the job, just labor and paint. At first when Isidro (an estimator employee) input the information into the computer after consulting Tom; the estimate was $200 higher than the previous estimate (only 6 months old). When I asked them to explain that monetary increase (when I had minus the $90 alignment); Isidro could not explain and Tom refused. I had been patiently waiting for the estimate for 30 minutes while Isidro and Tom answered phones and waited on other people who just walked in the shop. That level of rudeness and lack of customer service became unacceptable and I was getting the message that they did not want my business. Regardless, the fact that Isidro would tamper and pad my estimate because his boss told him to was an indication of dishonesty and discriminating treatment to a single mature female. They did not even have the respect to answer the question of why the estimate when up $200 when it should have been reduced by $90 (minus the alignment). I know very well that if my brother (big guy) was asking the same questions they would answer with respect and treat him totally different-not just blow him off. I called back to talk to Tom after I went to other appointments (asked him why the estimate went up and why I was treated so badly. He responded that I had haggled with him on the phone for 45 minutes the day before, and he did not like my attitude. So obviously he was holding some sort of personal and unprofessional grudge against me for asking hem technical questions. He flat out lied about the call time and I have it in my phone log to prove it was only 12 minutes. If you look at the positive reviews for this shop they are old and not very many, so percentage wise to have 4 stars out of a few reviews (that their friends may have posted) does not make up for the dishonesty and unprofessional behavior. I would never trust them with my car; especially women (without the support of a husband or significant other) should beware of this shop. I wanted to speak with the owner about the horrific customer service I received and Tom would not tell me the owners name. Of course, I can find that online, but...why would he refuse?

WARNING: If you have liability insurance and are paying for the repairs yourself, A&M Collision Repair is not for you!!! Isidro never asked me about my budget when I told him price was a concern. Yet, if time without a car and price for repair were the two things I checked on my entry form, he may have wanted to discuss that with me at some point during our interaction. When he delivered my quote it would have been easier for me if he had walked me to my car before handing me the quote and pointed out the parts that needed repair. He could have explained to me a bit about how he came to his estimate by letting me know how A&M Collision Repair works and their standards. When I asked why he charged me for paintwork or why he charged me so much for parts he explained that the parts were totally damaged and needed replacement. They do total repair or not at all. I explained that I had called wrecking yards to get quotes for parts and wanted them delivered to A&M Auto Body. It seemed that my desire for cost effectiveness was not an option at this collision repair center and that I would need full coverage insurance to have the repairs completed. Even though A&M Auto Repair was too expensive for me, I may have avoided a full on panic attack had the news been delivered with tact and understanding of where I was at with cost. I expected to pay for my own parts (I had called wrecking yards before going to get a quote) and had a set an amount separate for that in my budget and expected labor to be roughly $500.00-$700.00. I could only really afford about $800-$1,200 total cost and that was what I was expecting his quote to match. The quote was as follows for a front-end collision repair for my 1996 Toyota Camry and was non-negotiable (all charges or none at all): Parts: $1,807.96 Body Labor: $615.60 Paint Labor: $675.00 Paint Supplies: $450.00 Misc: $5.00 Total: $3,553.56 When I got a quote from Maaco they listened to my concerns about cost and were extremely reasonable with my desire to have a functioning car. This was my adjusted quote from Maaco: Materials and Supply: $52.50 Parts: $495.47 Body Labor: $610.00 Sublet/ENV: $5.00 Total: $1162.97 I can always go back to Maaco (3 minutes from A&M Collision Repair) and have my car painted to match at a later time. I am glad I found a way to fix my car and sorry A&M Collision was unwilling to help me work out a few options with them or give recommendations to where else I could go get help.

I ended up having the most horrible experience at A & M. The salesman, Isidro, and, manager are dishonest and they are cheats. I brought my 1993 Toyota Corolla in to the shop to have two panels painted because the top coat or sealant was badly peeling creating a spotty effect. The paint job was fine. What happened afterward was not. When my car was completed after one week I received a call from Isidro who told me that they had trouble starting my car and could they keep it over the weekend? I said yes and on Monday it was the same thing, the car would not start. Apparently, one of their NEW workers was cleaning paint off the engine with a water hose (why was there paint on the engine? dont they mask?) and water went into the carburetor. I had just spent over $500 at Waynes Garage getting a complete tune-up! Isidro said they would fix it and get it back to me within a week. He said they had spent $600 at Joes Garage fixing the carburetor but it was fixed. They also said they had it towed there. Ha! I drove the car for the next month with the car just not feeling right. It kept stalling. It actually died in traffic on a busy intersection and busy time of day. Driving to Portland I had to turn around because the car stalled and I didnt trust it. After taking the car back to A & M Auto Body multiple times and they denying any more responsibility I decided to go to Joes Garage and see what they did to my car. Well, was I in for a surprise! They pulled up the receipt, which said: Need carburetor replaced. Diagnostic. No charge. I was bamboozled! They never actually paid for the car to be repaired. And I think they just pushed it rather than towed it. Maybe they had a flunky from the body shop try to repair my car, something that I did not okay. Maybe they just gave me my car back after holding it for a week while doing nothing? I dont know. The owner at Joes Garage was very gracious so if you want a recommendation for auto repair go there. They operate with integrity. The owner called up A & M Auto Body and worked out a replacement of a carburetor at A & Ms cost. It was that easy. I feel like because I am a woman and have an older car that I wasnt treated respectfully. I felt I was taken advantage of. Whenever, I complained about my car still stalling to Isidro and the manager at A & M I was ignored. It took a male voice and someone that they did business with to make them fix my car properly. I do not recommend this shop to anyone!
