As other people have said, the maintenance and cleanliness of the place is bad. The locker room floor should be vacuumed at least twice a day. It looks like it gets vacuumed maybe every 2-3 days in the mens. The showers are constantly gross; there is typically a huge wad of hair stuck to the drain. It looks like the towel bins in the locker room only get emptied at night and they are frequently overflowing with towels.... sometimes to the point where they are on the floor. (There ARE other towel bins in the locker room but people are jerks and wont bother using them.) Im pretty sure that NONE of the staff actually goes and checks the club when the stupid in-house entertainment system tells them to. The maintenance of the cardio machines SUCKS! Oh, and the cool swimsuit dryer thing has been broken for 5 weeks now... that I know of, that is when I started going again. -----While Im on the issue of cardio machines, there are NOT enough spray cleanser bottles scattered around the floor. There really should be one every 5-10 feet on all of the aisles. Cause lets get real, no one wipes down the machine AFTER.. the people that care wipe it down BEFORE...this could be helped by having more bottles. The cleanliness and maintenance have ALWAYS been an issue at 24 hour in and around Portland.. Ive been going on and off for probably 14 years. I frequently see WAY to many people standing around at the front counter doing nothing and also VERY RARELY actually see a cleaning or maintenance person working. There should ALWAYS be at least 2 cleaners on staff, one male and one female. Oh, and their cleaning staff is HORRIBLY ill equipped for the job. I saw someone go into "clean" the pool area bathroom the other day and they only had a spray bottle, like one cleaning towel and some paper towels and they were in there for less then 5mins. -----------------Im a professional house cleaner, all of that is insane! Im pretty sure all 24 hour locations have these cleanliness and maintenance issues because for once reason: Their (and most other places) employee pay scheme is totally wacked. They probably pay Janitorial staff minimum wage, front desk people about $2-$4 more an hour. The sales people probably make +$5 of the Janitorial staff + commission. The Janitorial staff SHOULD be making as much if not MORE then the front desk staff. 24 hour as other places are totally abusing their janitorial staff... which of course gives them 0 incentive to actually work. Pay them a decent wage and they will actually work....and hire more people. -------Imagine what the place would like if there was no janitorial staff... the club would fast close and there would be no jobs for anyone else. All of this reminds me, I believe someone I knew reported one of their clubs to the health department many years ago and things changed; it might be time to do that again. Oh and last but not least; I forgot my lock combo awhile ago and asked someone to go tell the front desk that I needed it cut off. 40mins later Im STILL in my towel, Ive watched 1.5 episodes of Family Guy and no sign of a staff member. I luckily ended up remembering my combo and getting dressed....and went to the front desk to cancel my request. Apparently there were no men on staff at that time to come into the mens locker room to help me out. ---------------------WHAT?????????????? that is a sign of Horrible management. To make it worse, the people at the front desk didnt even try to think of ways to tell me what was up! They could have asked a fellow male gym member to tell me OR even just stood around the corner in the entry hall and called for "the guy who forgot the combo" ---------------This again reflects badly on the management for not teaching the staff what to do in that kind of situation.

I attended this gym for two months. When I joined, I went over my workout routine, shared the time of day I would be there, and the days that I would be working out. I was assured that it would not be an issue. This gym is busy but they have several machines available. If youre really into cardio, they have an entire floor dedicated to it. There is a nice lap pool on the first floor, and if you need child care, they offer a playroom downstairs. So why the one star? I would arrive at the gym around four oclock and plan on working out for 1-2 hours. I would dedicate each day to a different muscle group and at every other gym I have attended, this have never been an issue. Im used to sharing the gym with others so that everyone gets their workout in. Here however, every time I would work out, I would have to wait 10 - 20min between routines in order to use the proper weight racks (bench set, squat racks, etc..). The worst part is, the people "using" this equipment spend more time taking selfies, and playing on their phone than actually using the equipment. I promise this is not an exaggeration. This happened four times by my last count. One day I had someone run to cut me off from the squat racks as I was approaching and then spend the time playing on their phone. I understand that this is more of a fault with the people than the gym, so I rearranged my work schedule so that I would be able to go in an hour earlier...still no better. There were fewer people but I was still waiting 10 -15 minutes before being able to start a new exercise. So much for keeping that heart rate up. Clearly, this was not the place for me, so I asked to cancel my membership. I signed up for twelve months because I was told there was no trial program and I attended my old gym around four to five days a week. For only being here since September, my cancellation fee was over $300! That is three years worth of membership at the competing gyms in town and I was only there for two months. I understand the point of cancellation fees, but that was more than excessive, especially when the reason of cancellation was because the customer was unable to use the services the gym was supposed to be providing. Verdict: If you want a gym where you can "look" like youre working out, or just beginning to exercise, or are really into cardio, this would be a fine place to start but be sure to do the month to month until you are satisfied. It seems like common sense, I agree, but the place looks really nice and the people are super friendly. You would be surprised how easily that sense can disappear.

Gave myself a try exercising during sunmer break, so I chose this Hollywood center as a closest center from my house. They implied that this is one of the two largest centers, but never told me this is a Super Center, since you have to pay from $10- $15 more every month, and the only difference is that they provide towels that have been washing over and over a thousand times. They acts very nice when I came to sign in. Ive been told that they would help me to sign in with Easy Pay, so I dont have to bring money or cards when I want to purchase anything from their store. However, the main purpose for signing up with Easy Pay is that they can withdraw money from your bank account every month without notifing you. I felt so offended when they gave me a feeling of a net-thief. When signing up, I got to pay the 1st and the last month, which is two. I told them I might wont be able to come when I get back to school in the Fall. They said I wont be charge until the end of the 2nd month, so I would have more time to experience and think about the services. After one month, they charge me at the same day that I signed up for membership. I came and asked if I could cancel the membership and get refund for the fee they charged because I wont be able to come....school is coming. I try to explain all that and they just said that they cant do the refund since I didnt cancel it earlier even if I wont come anymore. I tried to call for customer services to talk more about my situation since I thought 24hr fitness would understand and their huge bussiness should be proffesional, but things didnt go anywhere else..........Im so dissapointed. I come today since I dont want to waste what I ve paid for. They cancel my membership and I couldnt check in normally. The receptionist didnt seem to care( they often tell me to try again if I have problem at the check in) . I tried to check in about 3 or 4 time and wait for the receptionist while she s talking to another customer about where she lives. Then she tole me the reason with cheking in is because I canceled the membership..........very frustrated........thought I would come back another time.......think again.....wherever but not this center eventhough this is the closet one.
