Joining LA Fitness; EASY, But costly. CANCELLING LA Fitness; PAIN IN THE BUTT. You cant cancel with them by just saying please cancel my account and stop billing me. You have to do that, then mail in TWO!!!!!!!! forms to them, and when you do, they cant seem to find them and bill you again, and when you call to find out why they billed you again you get the run around. You go online and can not even contact a customer service person or send an e-mail to customer service. WORST BUSINESS PRACTICE EVER. I am going to sit on these bastards until they refund my money for the bill they just billed me and NEVER AGAIN sign up with them. I cancelled TWO weeks ago for MEDICAL REASONS and they just keep taking my money. Machines took forever to fix, the pool chemicals are weird and even after you wash your hair twice it still smells like their pool, the bathrooms are right by the sauna and you get a steam bath trying to take a pee. The Kids Klub was fine for a while, but they told me at the start it was 10 kids per 1 adult and what I see is more of 15 kids per 1 adult who is busy with an infant and the toddlers are left unsupervised. All in all, it would have been ok in the end, if I could have ended on a good note. But by not letting me cancel my membership in a simple and timely manner they have lost my business and ensured that I will be posting this information to warn other people.

Dont buy a membership for the basketball. I bought my son a membership because several of his friends have memberships. They all play basketball on teams at school so they know what they are doing. However, since they are only 14 years old the other players wont let them play. My son and his friends had to go there during the early afternoon when the courts were empty, but when the older people show up in the late afternoon they completely take over the court and refuse to give the kids a turn. I spoke to the manager and she informed me that there is nothing they can do about what happens on the courts. Its up to the players. I told her that the kids pay their dues and are being bullied by the adults and that wouldnt it be simple to just put up a chalkboard or a piece of PAPER so everyone could write their names down and take their turn in order? She said they couldnt do something like that because its known that there are no RULES in the basketball court. I cancelled the membership right then of course because apparently the MANAGEMENT AGREES WITH BULLYING.

Im reading the previous reviews and Im guessing management took the hint that they need to step it up? I use to be a member here about 5 years ago. I had no issue signing back up and they didnt treat me any different because I was a former member. Ive been a member for one month and so far I like it and havent experienced the issues others have complained about in the past reviews. The locker rooms (womens at least) smell clean and nothing seems to be broken. I have yet to see a broken piece of equipment and not be greeted when I come in. Overall, its a clean & friendly environment & I feel that theyve improved on most of the things complained about on here. I was going to give it 4 stars but I cant blame LA Fitness for the tools that go there. I dont recommend going during the after-work hours (5ish oclock aka "Tool Time.") I will never go at that hour EVER. I will stick to coming at 6am when all the doctors and serious people come. But that is just my preference. Im an introvert and people arent my favorite. Two thumbs up for Council Dr. LA Fitness!

Good and decent equipment; only a couple sets of dumbbells over 110lbs. Busy when you expect it to be busy; after New Years, before summer, and daily after 5pm. Basketball courts are usually taken up during the evenings, so try to squad up if anything. Racquetball courts are a bring-your-own deal when it comes to balls and racquets, weak. Pool is in the front of the gym, which may or may not be a problem for you - but its usually full up with old people (no offense). Good sauna, lots of treadmills, only 2 stairmasters, lots of ellipticals, classes you can take. Its relatively cheap at about $30-$35. Crappy part is you have to pay $100 to be able to access all of their locations. AND FOR THAT, they get three stars. P.s. Most of the staff at this location is very friendly :) The short little dude who signs people up for memberships is not someone you want on your tail. If you get assigned to him, make sure its the quickest process, EVER. Trust.

Its a good club with a BAD business ethic. Their facilities are clean and convenient, as long as you pay your dues. Heaven forbid if you should try to cancel. They wont do it in person. They wont do it online. They force you to snail mail a form in that they will adamantly claim they never received, over and over. Once your account goes unpaid, for any length of time, youre in their system and you will receive collection calls from EVERY LA Fitness across the country. Some of their managers will try to pressure you into temporarily restore your membership and others will tell you that they will "update your account" but thats only in their local computer. Youll still continue to receive collections calls, to the tune of dozens per day. Its bad business, bad marketing and BAD ETHICS. If you plan on being a member for life, good for you. If you ever hope to get free, beware the Pandoras Box.

I wanted to cancel my membership because I just purchased some home gym equipment so I called LA Fitness. The employee told me that I could recieve an email and send in a cancelation notice but it would be faster if I just came in, even though it would be a week until I was able to stop by. Two days after I canceled my account I got charged for another month and went back in the gym and spoke to the manager, Sean. Sean said I was still charged because I didnt cancel 5 days before my charge date and there was nothing he could do. When I explained what the other employee told me he said it was inaccurate information but still refused to refund my money. I have never had good customer service here and I will NEVER be back. Go to Crunch if you want a gym. I only switched because of my fiance and Crunch was cheaper, more fitness classes available, and awesome customer service.

I was going to sign up so I called and asked a few questions. THE NEXT DAY I get a call at work asking for me. Its the guy from the gym. I DID NOT GIVE HIM MY NUMBER, HE DIDNT ASK FOR IT, AND HE DIDNT TELL ME HE WAS GOING TO CALL ME THE NEXT DAY. He used the caller ID and got my work number! I was not expecting it and not allowed to get calls at work due to my job but this idiot called. WOW! I was nice and told him to not call. The next day I get a call from a girl and you guessed it same thing over and over. Now my work keeps getting calls from these people asking me to come in and sign up. These people are worse than a used car lot trying to sell a wrecked car and not tell you. I will not sign up and will not recommend doing business with these clowns. Plus the staff is all out of shape and over weight. Great way to lead by example LOL Clowns!
