This place has everything you could want in barber shop/ salon. Free beer while you wait, free WIFI, pretty girls, and great haircuts. The environment is creative and rugged, by design. The music is loud, on purpose. Walk-in only, so youll never need an appointment. This place is Not for everyone, but they sure arent missing out on those few poor souls that cannot appreciate it. Ive been going to Bishops for many years and have never seen a desolate shop. Call ahead to find out the wait time, for there will most always be a wait of at least a half hour. They seem to be doing everything right. If you havent experienced BISHOPS - "The Original Rock N Roll Barber Shop", You are certainly missing out..!

I went in for a trim came out with a chop. I had asked to have my long (middle of back) hair trimmed on the edges and came out with bob (a cut I despise) with uneven layers. When I went back to fix it, it came out even shorter because the hair dresser didnt know how to correct the cut. They are not updated on cutting techniques, styles and dont really listen to the customer. More so than anything, they pretend to care and really dont. Reimbursement would be the best way to show that a company takes responsibility. Bishops started off with a great reputation in Portland and have lost it quickly and will continue to do so with all the stories I hear on the street on negative experiences.

I am a big fan of barbershops and since moving here I have tried 3-4 different companies. I have been going to Bishops now for about 5 cuts or so, each time having a new stylist. My customer service experience has been great and the wait seems to be short for just a walk-in. The decor is funky and fun. Of all the other barbershops that I have tried in Portland, I have had the best cuts from this place. I am very particular and each stylist has done a wonderful job. Eva was the last stylist that I went to and it has been the best cut yet. I would recommend Bishops to anyone. Give them a shot and I believe you wont be disappointed.

Having had two cuts at Bishops, and both times, having had my request for style completely ignored... i will not be going back. First cut was ok, and the stylist had great banter. Second time around... taking a phone call while cutting my hair, using one hand and not looking at my head whilst using clippers.... since when was that the appropriate????? could have stayed at home and done it myself... and a better job with a knife and fork!

As "hip" as Bishops purports to be, they are definitely lacking in skilled stylists. I have had 3 different haircuts at 2 separate Bishops locations and have been disappointed each time. If youre looking for something other than the latest, trendiest style (i.e. a more "normal" haircut), take your pick of establishments. Bishops is a ripoff. They should hire stylists based on skill rather than their style of dress and number of tattoos.

I love the location right next to my favorite cafe -- Kens. And they let me put my name down and then go get my coffee. I also enjoy the rather colorful and unorthodox wall paper -- every barber seems to create a collage around their station. One point off -- because they try to push me into buying hair products that I dont need. The price of ~$15 for my easy buzz cut is also a bit on the pricey side -- though I am not complaining. :-)

Went to get color( my hair was virgin), spent three hours and $120.00 later for ashy blonde, came out with red tones, wanted correction and was told I would be charged again. The stylist toned, then bleached, then toned again x2my hair when she should have bleached it first, then toned my hair. I would not recommend getting color at Bishops! Now I wasted my time and money getting color I did not like!

I saw Veronica at NW 21st, she was fabulous, Bishops is fabulous, I got a great haircut and had a blast while I was there. This is a far superior experience to those other walk-in strip-mall haircut joints. Ive seen all ages and all kinds of people in there, they are a welcoming bunch. Seriously, just tell Veronica you want to look hot and she can do it!

This Bishops is great. Ive never had a bad cut here; great stylists and big windows to people watch on the street while the blowdrying blocks conversation. You can reserve a time easily online and have a beer while you wait. With its proximity to Providence Park, you never know when you might see a Timbers player there...True story!

If you know whats good for you dont go to this place!!!! The stylist do not live up to there name. Bad bad haircut, the worst even. I guess thats what the beer is for so you wont know how bad the cut is till your at home. And seriously so unprofessional!!!! Cover up your fat tummy lady

Receptionist is very warm and welcoming, its walk ins only and if you dont want to wait they will call you when youre up next! But if you dont mind waiting you get a cold Montucky for your troubles ;). I had Mat who fixed my horrid home hair cut and was so fun to chat with!

They have free beer while you wait. Yes, thats right...free beer. I have always liked the job that their stylists have done on my hair, the walls are plastered with visually interesting magazine clippings and the prices are a little high, but far from outrageous.

Ryan really helped me figure out what to do with my hair. I basically just told him "Make it look good" and he did. He also helped me see what all my options were as far as styling goes and thats what I really needed. Thanks Ryan, Ill definitely be back.

The quality of service is not always consistent, but for $30, and a decent tip I usually walk away with an ok to fabulous cut. I just wish we could pick our stylist.

Good place for a quick cut and beer which is free for customers. Cool atmosphere and music make it a hip place to stop by. Great with kids and reasonably priced.

Great staff but there seems to be high turn over. Always get a good haircut here but wish their staff retention was better so I could go back to the same person

Stylists are really awesome sometimes. Just know what you want out of a haircut, and they can help you get there.
