I know it will sound foolish but a couple years I decided that for the rest of my life where I have hair on my head I will only have one barber...Shelly. She is a master. Literally. Certified Master. Shelly recently opened Refuge and she and her colleagues deserve to make it big. She is a consummate professional and a pleasure to talk to. Haircuts are $25 but it is the skill of the barber that makes it worth so much more. The finishing touches of the neck shave and eyebrow trim are always included. Go to Super cuts if you want to shower after to get rid of the hair they cover your body in. If you want a straight razor shave ($25) then you will get the finest here as well. I am always amazed how long a straight razor shave lasts. Typically I get 5 OClock shadow by 11am but this gives me at least a day and half of looking sharp.

Disappointing to say the least. My 1st and last visit to Refuge began with me waiting for the stylist Bill to come out to begin the haircut. 15 minutes late Bill shows, very apologetic for keeping me waiting, smelling of cigarettes and nervously beginning the cut with out even asking me how i like my hair. So I manage to cut into his nervous chatter to let him know my preferences and as I look in the mirror at bill I catch him looking at himself in another mirror using his finger to clear his nose. This guy reminded me of a nervous tweeker and the end result haircut was a disaster.

Every few weeks I go and see Shawna Barton for a haircut and each and every time she does a great job. I highly recommend her. When my last haircut rolled around and I tried to book an appointment to see Shawna, I found out she was out for a few days so I rolled the diced and took the next available person. I ended up getting a cut from Mark who did an equally great job. While Ill be going back to Shawna, its nice to know that if Im in a bind because of my schedule I have another person to go and see. Thanks Shawna and Mark. Go see these guys, you will not be disappointed.

Ive been going to Everett for the better part of a year now. The guys got skills. In addition to really clean fades, he just gets it. Hes great at accomplishing what you want, which sounds simple, but Ive been to too many people that either dont listen well enough to understand what youre going for, or just think that their ideas are better. As long as I live in Portland, Everett and Refuge Barbershop will be my only barber. Great barbers Great service Great rates.

Shawna is the best. I came in was not sure what I wanted, just that I wanted it shorter. I asked her to cut what she thought would look good with my hair and style and after a few questions she was excited. Ive never had a better experience at any other barber. Oh yeah I always get complements on my hair.
