Apparently, a store for a certain class of cyclist only. My bicycle is my main form of transportation, and when my trusty old steed needed tires, I stopped at Coles. My bike is an early 90s hybrid with friction shifters and a solid frame, just a regular, simple, and reliable bike. It has none of the new gizmos that dont work any better and just break sooner. Anyway, when I walked in, the snobbery was palpable... it was clear that my bike was viewed as worthless, an attitude that really did surprise me. I had thought any bicycle outfit would have some appreciation for the love between man and machine, but it was completely absent. Needless to say, I got no help, except to be shown some high-dollar new bicycles by a salesperson who couldnt fathom why I would want to still ride my old bike. Where I live, I see lots of people on weekends riding around with fancy tight shorts and shiny, space-age bikes... not really going anywhere important, I guess out for a fun ride, thats all. I never see anybody like me in an old t-shirt riding to the grocery store, library, school, etc. So, if you have a fat wallet and ride for fun and fad, Coles is probably a great place. If you ride to actually get places and you genuinely love the spirit of it all, you might be a bit thrown off by the highbrow attitude in there.

The scum of bike shops. The only time i come to this shop is when im in need of either a new set of grips, or i need a stem bolt, etc. The small things. Every time I am greeted by a grouchy employee, who is very uneducated about the bmx industry, products, and the overall current trend of it. We live in an era where 90% or less of "street" bmx riders do not use brakes. My most recent encounter at this particular shop, i was greeted by a young woman no more then 20 years old, to immediately accused of being an "unprofessional" cyclist, simply because we are not users of brakes. Countless times I have been abruptly interrupted while browsing for my small needs (the only reason I would ever go here) by someone trying to sell me low quality products, and when I am not interested, they persist to attempt to sell me their low end merchandise. I cant speak for every cyclist, but I cant think of the last time i heard anything good about this place. I recommend anyone to avoid this shop at all costs.

I have shopped at Coles for over 25 years. I have found them to be very helpful an knowledgeable. I have found their regular prices often beat other stores sale prices. I commute to work 13 miles one way averaging 800 miles per year plus another 1600 miles pleasure riding. I have a TREK 720 hybrid, I believe it is 21 years old, Coles will show a new bike when I come in for service but always fix my old one. If they detect a part that is worn where it is near the end of its useful life or may not be safe they will tell me. Sometimes I replace other times I do not. I do not have a wallet that can always comply. When I finally replace my hybrid it will be another Coles bike.

Horrible place. I called up and asked to have my new road bike fitted, the owner said to take it in and she would do it for free. Great I thought. I Googled around a bit beforehand so I knew what to expect. Well she took one measurement (of the 6 or so I was expecting) and tried to sell me a $30 stem immediately. Nothing else. Id been there before for an overpriced tuneup and thought Id give them another chance. Never again. The employees have no authority to do anything for you, and it just feels like a terrible place to work (and be). Super snobby about riding in general, and if youre new theyll make you feel like an idiot. Avoid like the plague.

Very rude, tell you that you need things that you don't actually need. we went in for a new chain they said we needed a whole new cassette. after going to performance they replace the chain for us with no problem. had an issue with a wheel, women at coles said i needed a whole new wheel, I went home and was able to prepare myself and have been riding it for 2 years. they have made reference to replacing my bike entirely. I am an avid cyclist and know that that is unnecessary. like the mechanic that tells you you need things repaired that are not broken.

I bought a new bike and within one day I had trouble with the front derailleur. I brought it in and they said I didnt have a problem and that they had "made a liar out of me." I brought my new bike to Mountainside Bike in Mechanicsburg and they replaced the bad tension cable and tuned it up for me. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN COLES EVER AGAIN -- THEY LOST A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE. The customer is always right.

Great Service! I was going out of town and my bike was in for a tune up. I forgot that the store was not open on Wednesdays. They took time on their day off to come in and give me my bike for vacation. Not many establishments go out of their way to make the customer happy like Coles does.

I was in just this weekend to purchase a bike for my young nephew. The saleswoman was WONDERFUL in talking to him about bike safety and security! It was very helpful!
