I have been living around this area for the past 15 years, I am not sure how long this hardware store has been here but I have been getting things form here as far as I can remember. I have had great experiences in the pas, the employees that I have seen are very friendly and helpful. However, today I had an extremely negative experience when I stopped by the store to get an item that I needed. The gentleman working at the register was plain rude. I am not sure if he was having a bad day or he just did not like that fact that I was very nice and friendly. I asked if they had the item that I was looking for and he directed me to where the item was in a very nasty manner, when I asked if this was a standard size, He rudely said "there is no such thing as standard but it should work" when I paid he did not asked if i needed a receipt or anything. I guess he was just expecting for me to walk out. when I asked for a receipt he seemed annoyed. I did mentioned to him that he needed to work on his customer service skills that what he said nothing because I am sure he knew I was right. I usually recommend this store to my friends and I try to support local business in the area but after this experience I wont be doing that anymore and I wont be coming back here. There are other stores in the area that I will be going to. I do not know the guys name, I do not ask but I am sure the owner can tell who was working during this evening.

I live several blocks away and have Consisutely been able to rely on Mount Plesant Hardware for everything from replacing switches to tools in prep. for snow. If u are looking for patio furniture, 30 types of lawn mowers, etc. ...I urge you consider that this is a NEIGHBORHOOD hardware store. Not Ace, not Costco, just to be clear. Staff has always been incredibly helpful, if u ask - I appreciate that as I hate being hassled and followed by overly zealous sales folks at conventional chain stores. They know their business here, and thats all that matters!

We live two blocks away, and Pfeiffers is great! If you consider how much your time is worth, paying a little more to save an hour trip to Home Depot makes sense! that said, I have had maybe a dozen or so keys cut at Pfeiffers over the years. Id give them about a 20% failure rate. (I suspect they arent seating the original keys far enough in as the teeth look right, just slightly shifted towards the tip. They are awesome about recutting the keys that Ive brought back, but now were talking a waste of my time.

This is not a hipster bar, as we had first thought from afar. The staff here is super helpful, I came to get keys made and I was in and out in under ten minutes, very different from my home depot experiences. I will definitely come back for hardware related purchases.

Better prices and quality products than you will find at the godawful Bed, Bath and Beyond. A nice selection of items for such a small store, ranging from nuts and bolts, to butcher block mineral oil, to brooms made of wood not plastic.

Old School is a great name fo this place. They have great personal service and it is a pleasure to stop by to pickup material for our small household projects. Truly a neighborhood hardware store.

Nice people, convenient place to pick up a couple things when doing stuff around the house. Like another reviewer, Ive had bad luck with their key-cutting the two times Ive had copies made there.

While it is convenient located and carries most necessary tools, it also lacks some basic ones. Depending on the staff there it is a hit or miss -- not all are helpful.

The folks here are friendly and helpful. If they dont have something, theyll order it for you or tell you where you can find it...or even a way around using it!

Can be pricey on certain items, but overall decently priced. The staff is very helpful and they have everything youd need from a local hardware shop.

Less than well stocked & the least helpful staff Ive ever seen at any hardware store... and Im including the big boxes in that statement!
