Mike Briseno, the manager of New York Fitness, told me "I dont run my gym on principles," when I cancelled my FOUR unused memberships after paying for an entire year. He charged me for an additional month and I am disputing this charge. I acted in good faith paying for 1 year, however, he did not return the favor, and charged my account $40 again the month after I quit. He lied to me by saying only the billing company could make that determination (they cant) and accused me of yelling at him on the phone when in reality he just didnt like what he was hearing--the TRUTH. Please pass the word along that NY Fitness in Elizabethtown, Palmyra and Lebanon do not run on principles-like honest business practices or good customer service. I am told by his staff that my account is not cancelled, but pending despite signing cancellation papers weeks ago. There are many bad reviews on YELP! the Yellow Pages, this site and the Better Business Bureau websites that are warranted although some have been unrecommended. Read them and TAKE HEED!!!!

Poor customer service. If you ever have a problem the people behind the counter cant help. They are told what to say by the owner (who is never available by phone or email). Had a problem with my credit card being stolen and forgot this was the card used for auto payments at the gym. I called the night before my payment would be taken out and they said I would have to come in to take care of it. I went in the next morning and they said the attempt for payment was already made and I would have to pay the "insufficient fund" fee. I was never late with payments before and have excellent credit. Instead of being helpful, I was treated like a deadbeat trying to get out of paying. Really?! Would I have gone in to give them my new credit card # if I wasnt going to pay? The new equipment was nice for awhile, but Im going back to the hometown gym down the street.

Do NOT join this gym. I joined this gym 2 years ago. I was charged twice for the membership fee. When I brought the error to the attention of the staff and owners, I was told the overcharge would be refunded to my credit card. Two years later, this still has not happened. I was given several lame excuses why the refund had not been done. I filed a complaint with the BBB. The response from the owners accused me of being dishonest, claiming that I was not charged twice for the membership fee and that I used the gym for a month without paying anything. This is a lie. I provided my own copies of receipts to both staff and owner proving that I had been billed and paid twice. This gym receives a 1 star because the physical trainer that teaches the classes is outstanding. Without him, this gym isnt worth joining.

GO TO ANY GYM BUT HERE. They treat their members horribly, I moved out of town without remembering to cancel my membership... I called into the gym thinking I would be able to simply end the membership over the phone and they told me that I could only cancel it in person (which I told them that I had no way of doing since I did not have a car and no longer lived in Elizabethtown). 9 months and several hundred dollars later I am finally assured they will not be continuing to bill me or call my parents home phone on a nightly basis. All gym memberships end eventually but I would not wish trying to end one at New York Fitness on my very worst enemy.

Dirty, poorly run gym. The facility really has potential, unfortunately the place is run by lazy management who just doesnt seem to care. Equipment is "out of order" with repairs being done for months at a time. They also have multiple days every single week when they do not open the gym at the time promised in their hours. There is no reliable source for cleaning supplies for equipment which makes me ask the question "have you heard of MRSA?" It may actually be risky to your health to join this gym. Dont do it.

Cancelling membership here is a nightmare. I went in person, paid a fee for it so they wouldnt debit my card the following month, the guy even had to call the manager "to make sure" it wasnt going to debit. Guess what, they still debited the next two months. Didnt even waste my time to go in again because the customer service has no idea and dont let me get started on their collection agency.

Good place to work out and get myself and my fam in shape. Mostly good quality gym equipment with tanning rooms and smoothie bar, TVs, etc. Nice people work there and get in shape there (certain memberships allow you to come at any time of day or night). I would give higher stars if the equipment pads where changed more often.

My trainer Matt is amazing. Made a tremendous difference in my life with my health. Synergy class is fun and fast paced. Almost all classes are free with monthly membership.
