I contracted with Plum Street Gourmet for my daughter’s wedding reception. This was after contracting with another caterer who didn’t seem to understand what my daughter wanted for a menu and were very unprofessional handling money. Saw pictures on Plum Street Gourmet website and was immediately impressed. After my initial phone call with Lori, I knew that my daughter and I had found the right caterer! To say that Lori is outstanding is an understatement. She listened to my daughter’s ideas, over-laid the ideas with experienced advice (no pushiness or bossiness involved!) and developed a very detailed, easy to understand plan for the big day. Lori has an obvious passion for her business and it shows in the quality of the food and outstanding customer service. Some people know how to do their job well. Other people know how to do their job well and actually do their job well – that’s Lori! The reception included 10 different food items and each was delicious. Lori suggested selections that satisfied everyone and accommodated special diets and food allergies. If you haven’t tried the chicken satay with peanut sauce or Asiago stuffed red bliss potatoes – you don’t know what you’re missing. You’ve had spinach salad before, but not like Lori makes it. What a flavor treat with the champagne vinaigrette. The large grilled asparagus/ red pepper tray with dill was served at perfect temperature and was at perfect texture as well – not too crisp and not limp either. The food presentation at the stations was practical and allowed for easy flow and accessibility, but I heard more than one person remark that it almost looked too pretty to eat. I had to agree because the food was so beautifully staged that it was like an edible work of art. Even with the best plans and best food, things can go awry on the big day without top notch staff and servers. Not surprisingly, Lori made sure we had the best. Nancy, the captain, was remarkable in how she handled the day and her staff with gracefulness and cheerfulness. All the servers worked so hard on a horribly hot and humid day. Each and every one had a smile on their face and kind words. You would never know they were feeling the sweat roll down their backs like the rest of us. One of the young guests (6 year old) had a little mishap and was covered in mud from head to toe - really covered! One of the male servers stepped right up and helped our little lad keep calm and also fetched supplies to get him cleaned up. Nancy and her entire wait staff went above and beyond what we expected and are just plain wonderful, wonderful people. Bottom line – if you want the best – call Plum Street Gourmet Catering. Prices are very fair for what you get. If you want a catered event where you don’t need to worry and fret the details and can have confidence that your event will be a success – call Plum Street Gourmet.

I chose Plum Street Gourmet for our outdoor wedding reception in our yard. It was murderously hot, my yard is a series of giant hills and to top it off...our septic system became overwhelmed before dinner was even served and all the tables and decorations had to be moved. Despite all that, I cant express how happy my family, my new husband and I are with their service. Its what you always hope for when paying for catering but never actually get. It started with Lori, the planner. She met up with me and we discussed my "dream". Her competence and experience were immediately evident. She had ideas, plans and thoughts that I hadnt even considered. She smoothly navigated my somewhat hair-brained ideas and helped me shape them into a beautiful event. She visited our home on two occasions and really got into the nitty-gritty of how this would all actually work, including a variety of helpful suggestions not directly related to catering. She itemized her quote and even provided maps for table placement, activities, the bar, etc. The next pro was Nancy, the captain. She also visited the house before the party to hammer out details. She was the lady in charge on the day of the reception. She and her staff are nothing short of magical. They were fast, cheerful, polite and on top of every detail. They handled the potentially disastrous septic system situation so quickly and quietly dinner was delayed only 6 minutes and most of my guests werent even aware of the situation. They pamper you. Finally, the food...it was divine. We had a unique menu of hors doeuvres that enticed the choosiest of my guests. My guests raved about the meal. It was elegant, delicious and met every dietary need. There was something for everyone, and even some tidy leftovers in my fridge after they left. They also cleaned up after themselves to the degree that it took only an hour for my husband and I to get the rest of the yard in order the next day. I found a few cheaper and a few more expensive catering services when I was initially shopping around, and I chose Plum Street Gourmet based on their reasonable rates, beautiful food and Loris attitude. Im writing them a good review because they were truly excellent caterers and made my reception an epic win. Im going to go out of my way to post this review everywhere I can find because not only did they do a great job on my party, I really felt like they genuinely cared about us. One of my guests described the staff "happily chatting" in our kitchen about how they were so glad we seemed pleased with the party. There were hugs all around when they left. You cant ask for more, and I certainly wouldnt consider another caterer in the future.

Great place to get lunch. No indoor seating. Best gazpacho you can find north of the border!
