I wanted to give an updated review since the one previously was over two years old and it doesn’t seem like management cares about its members. Hopefully posting in a public forum will put pressure on The Club to do something. About a year and a half ago, The Club did finally buy new Dumbbells, Cardio equipment, and eight pieces of new Hoist equipment. Members were promised that the rest of the equipment would be replaced but it never was. After the upgrades ended the Club continues to fall apart. Machines are not fixed in a timely manner. For example, it has been two months and the cable crossover is still broken. A cable on another machine was so old, it broke right off when the person was using it and he almost got injured when it flew back into his face. In addition, half of the barbells are old and bent (the club only replaced half of them). Moreover, there still is no one working the floor that you can go to if you have a problem or need a spot. They removed the dedicated employee three years ago and never replaced the person. Other Items: The suspended ceiling in the gym area is all down and has been that way for over six months. Half the lights in the gym are burnt out and have not been replaced. Looks horrible and depressing. The gym is always hot in the summer and vice versa in the winter. Members complain but management does nothing about it. There are no wipes, like other gyms have, to wipe down equipment. There are a few bottles of cleaner in the cardio area, but no one walks back and forth to wipe down equipment. The outdoor tennis courts are in disrepair now. They closed them last year and they continue to be closed. Grass is growing in them now. It is a sad sight to see. In addition, the area around the outdoor bar is dirty. There are buckets of sludge that have been near the bar area for over two years now. Looks horrible. I also question how clean the bar is and I have stopped ordering food and drinks. Over the past 6 months the club has started to SPAM my email account. There are some days where I get over two emails about Spa offers or “bring a friend day.” I am considering going to Crunch, which just opened, or the newly remodeled LA Fitness. The Club charges $70 for a single membership. I wouldn’t mind the cost if I was treated better and this was actually an upscale gym. Those days are gone and it is mostly a dirty YMCA now. (Actually the YMCA in the area was remodeled and is nicer) The only upside to this place is it isn’t crowded at night since it is mostly a Silver Sneaker gym. However, Crunch isn’t that bad after 7PM so that might be an alternative.

My husband and I really considered joining this health club, despite advice from others. However, the start-up costs are ridiculous in comparison to the quality of the facility. We were quoted almost $400 for myself, my husband and 15 year old daughter to join, and that was with a teachers discount. What!? And get this, that quote included a FIRST AND LAST months fee, like were renting an apartment or something. Crazy. The monthly fee itself was actually somewhat affordable; but the start-up costs cant be justified. And dont get me wrong, I dont mind paying a higher price for things that are worth it. But we went on a tour of the place and it was a mess! Buckets under leaky, dripping, deteriorated ceiling tiles; light bulbs out; old gym equipment, etc. etc. Everything negative you read on the internet is true about the place. Its clear the owners do not care about their reputation. The sad thing is, we actually still considered joining, despite all the bad things about it, just because it is so close to our home. However, I was not willing to pay the ridiculous start-up costs due to the above mentioned reasons. I messaged the club through their Facebook page to see if they would be willing to waive some of the fees. I also found the owner on Facebook and sent him the same message. I also called the office and left several messages. Of course, I have not received any response. There are now plenty of quality gyms in town which are affordable to start. Funny thing is, while trying to justify the start-up fees the office manager at the Club Sport and Health had the nerve to say to me, those other gyms dont have all that we have to offer. If shes referring to ridiculous startup fees, poor facility management, beat up equipment, and leaky ceilings....I guess shes right!

This is a huge gym with everything any person could need to reach their fitness goals. I like that they have a wide variety of classes at different times so it fits many schedules. Also, I never have to wait for any equipment. Theres always a machine, or weight or mat or whatever I need, available. The gym just got ALL new free weights (boxes and boxes of them) last week (1/23/15). I also like that there are a wide range of people of all ages, races, fitness levels and genders who go to this gym. (there are many Silver Sneakers) And the person who said the gym is not climate controlled must have been there on a bad day, as it is always very comfortable when Im there. The public areas seem to be fairly clean, although I only gave it four stars because the whole place is sort of dated and drab looking and could really use some sprucing up. Hoping they get some Pickleball courts soon.

I rented the unused, "always available gym" - should have been the first red flag- for a boxing event a few months ago. They charged me over 2 times the regular rental rate as a "deposit", never provided an actual contract, telling me that we would "work it out". They seemed very willing to work and clearly needed the money so I figured Id take them at their word. My mistake, obviously. Now they wont answer a call or text and have decided that its better business to beat me for 1200$ then to have a potential repeat rental. Talk about burning a bridge. Dont make the same mistakes I did, they are clearly dying on the vine and will walk away with any money they can get. Ive met more honest junkies.

This Fitness Club is the largest I have ever seen! It has hundreds of pieces of Fitness equipment and tons of Fitness classes. I read some of the other reviews and I feel any of the negative reviews are incorrect. They must be from disgruntled members or former employees. Go see it for yourself and you will see that this Club is by far the best in the Pittsburgh area! They have Tennis Courts, Racquetball, Squash, Golf, Indoor and outdoor Pools, even an indoor Soccer field! They also have a SPA, Hair Salon, Restaurants, Therapy. Most other Gyms are just a weight room but the Club Sport and Health is so much more... It is like its own city all about fitness and health.

Membership should matter! I have had my membership for several years but recently have been having some medical problems so I havent been to the facility in a very long time. I never receive any updated literature in the mail or email regarding changes made to the programs. They dont even send a courtesy letter or correspondence to check on their patrons who dont visit often. No marketing at all... I have a friend who attend a different facility, this company sends their patrons news letters, updates, and "We miss you" post cards. I currently hold a family membership, can we a news letter at the very least?
