This studio turns out great dancers, no doubt about that. They are serious about dance. When I brought my five-year-old for her first class, I saw little girls that had full-on stage makeup, hair, glitter and bedazzled dance attire. I thought these were girls who were practicing for competition, but no, that is how they dressed for class. They are serious about dance. When my daughters class didnt practice to the expectations of her teachers, they didnt get their "after-class lollipop." My daughter would cry because she genuinely did her best and did what was expected of her, but because the whole class didnt do their best, no lollipop. Hard to explain to a 5-year old. They are serious about dance. But why we left this studio is not over their commitment to being serious about dance. I actually dont fault the studio. They want to be the best and that is what they do. If you cant take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. This is a great studio to go to if you are serious about dance. But when I realized that there were too many dance families at the studio who were, for a lack of a better term, ill-mannered, it was time to go! Im raising a little girl who I want to be surrounded by positive, caring, respectful people. I couldnt believe the amount of disrespect I heard from dancers to their parents, or from siblings in the waiting area. Kids running amuck, totally undisciplined and disrespectful. I was pregnant during the season that we were at DC Dance Factory, and not once...not one time...did any parent offer me a seat in the waiting area. Even if it meant moving their purse or a kids backpack off of a limited (and coveted) seat in the waiting area. There was actually another mom who was also heavily pregnant, and the two of us would stand there massaging our backs (because its tough to stand for an hour), and never once, did anyone offer of a seat..even if the seat was not being taken up by a person, but by stuff" occupying it. I will say, I did see an elderly woman be offered a seat by someone who was leaving once, so that was nice! The culture here was just not what I wanted to raise my child in. A dance studio becomes your second home. Lifelong friendships are made between dancers and the parents. And this just wasnt our scene.

This will be the twelfth year my girls have been dancing at DC Dance Factory. From the first year we danced with DC to now, I am constantly amazed at the talent within this studio - from the teachers and the dancers. When DC dancers hit the stage, you know it. The teachers are amazingly talented and creative. Year after year they create dances and themes that are like no other. Everything they do is uniquely DC. We love DC, not just because of the talent and creativity, but also because the teachers really care about their students. My girls think of this studio as their second home and the teachers, parents and dancers as their extended family. Ive seen so many DC dancers graduate high school and leave DC for college, NY or LA, but they always come back every chance they get. They come back to see their mentors and get the chance to take just one more class from them. They come back because they know they are loved there. If you live anywhere near Franklin, TN, and your child loves dance and wants to learn more, take them to DC. Youll be amazed at how much your child will learn and grow. I know I am.

This school really is a toss up based on what youre looking for in classes. They are well organized, very professional, and there are many teachers, so a lot of different styles of dance and teaching styles to choose from. Among the cons however, is that the dancers they put out really do seem like theyve been through a factory. Very competition heavy, so expect more emphasis on flashy dance movement than classical training. We ended up pulling our daughter out and moving to a studio that stayed away from competitions since it reflects in the material and teaching styles. Overall though, a pleasant experience and good classes for the non-serious dancers.

This is truly the best studio around. The staff are professional, organized, and truly want the kids to be their best. Being their best means in everything they do, from dance, to cheering or encouraging their peers during class, to showing respect to adults and each other, and taking these tools and applying it to life. It is a family! This is our 2nd year at DC and I truly love the staff, parents, and the kids. The talent here is amazing!! I would recommend anyone who is on the fence to come to a recital where you will see what DC produces or google dc factory dances online and look at past performances. You wont regret it!

DC Dance Factory is an amazing dance studio. The teachers are incredibly talented, but most importantly (in my opinion), is that they genuinely love their job and our dancers. I also think the parents here are supportive and encouraging to one another as well as to our kiddos. DC is our 2nd home. I am proud to be a part of this family for the past 7 years, and look forward to many more!!!

Wow! We just completed our first year at DC Dance Factory - one daughter on Company, one taking regular classes. Both girls have progressed so much, made great friends and fallen in love with DC!! Persistence, hard work, and positivity--everything that you want your kids to value--thats what youll find at DC.

This studio is way more than just a place to dance; its a family. The teachers and staff truly love these kids and want nothing more than to see them succeed. I am so thankful my daughter gets to learn and grown as a dancer at DC Dance Factory!!
