I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DANCE FACILITY TO ANYONE! I had an issue with the recital my daughter was in on May 28th. First, at the recital my family was asked if "one of your(our) people" could sit on the steps during a performance (which happened to be the same performance my daughter was in) so another parent could see her child perform. Mind you there were seats available on the first and second row. The lady went to get the director and told her my mother in law was being confrontational. I know this because I was back stage with the director when the other parent was speaking with her. They walk out and I proceed not knowing who the parent was speaking about. I walk into My mother in law pointing out the other available seats politely to the director of the recital. Some how it was relayed to the manager (Lizzie) that my mother in law acted "ethnic." Secondly, the recital "program" was paper! It was never specified that the program would be paper. I had several companys and individuals pay for ads in this program and were not satisfied with the amount of money the ads cost for such poor publishing. It looked like it was made on Microsoft the day of the recital. I was told by the manager today, whom it took almost two weeks to get in touch with after the recital, that the ads I sent in were "a mess and had to be fixed and no money would be refunded" Which was never brought to my attention before publishing the program. Proceeding to discuss my thoughts about the program and asking for the money back, I was insulted, undermined and disrespected by Lizzie, the manager of the facility. After about twenty minutes of listening to her tell me irrelevant information, cutting me off, and unwilling to listen to my concern to find a resolution that would work for both parties, I finally told her my daughter would not be returning to the facility. She then told me my daughter couldnt return if she wanted to because shes "ethnic" and part of the "ethnic behavior" that was supposedly shown at the recital. If you have kids that are biracial, from a different culture, or apparently anything but white, this facility is not for you. The only reason this place has one star from me is because it wouldnt let me post my review with out it!

my older daughter recently began her third year at BSD and my younger daughter begins her first year. Both of my daughters are biracial and are VERY loved by the BSD family. Last September, my daughter was diagnosed with renal cancer and I have never felt more support in my entire life. Within 24 hours of diagnosis, the instructors at BSD had organized a Gofundme account, donated personal money to the account, set up collection buckets, called to express their sympathy, and called the gift shop to send a gift to her in the hospital. Even though my daughter missed an entire semester of class, she was saved a spot in the recital and costumes were ordered. The dance studio also worked to introduce me with another mom who had experienced childhood cancer. Both of my daughters count down the days to dance class every single week and truly love the instructors. I am very saddened that others feel they were attacked due to race, but in my experience BSD would never treat someone differently based on skin color or anything else for that matter. All of the classes my children have been in have been very ethnically diverse, and we all feel welcomed with open arms. I would recommend anyone to dance here. <3

I just want to expand on the post from Marissa Nicole Freeman, I am the father of the biracial child mentioned in Marissa Nicole Freemans post. I also experienced discriminating from this dance facility and me being an active hands-on father I often took my daughter to dance classes. There was a time when I was asked was I spying on the other two year old girls and me as a concern father I was only checking on my child. Recital day incident: May 28th 2016 I too was standing there when the lady came out and asked if she could have one of our seats and if one of my people could sit on the stairs so one of the stage moms could watch her child perform. My mother merely said Why cant she sit in 1 of the other seats? I have 10 people and we have 10 seats. She said please. My mother said no! why do we have to move and sit on the stairs and she said please please can one of your people sit on the stairs. My mother politely said no were not sitting on the stairs ask someone else. Mind you our seats or on the third row and thier were plenty of empty seats in the first and second row. My mother is very professional and at no time was she acting ethnic. Whatever ethnic acting is.

My daughter has been dancing here for 5 years. This is her 3rd year on their competitive dance team. I have found Ms. Bonnie, Ms. Lizzy & Ms. Lauren to be amazing. And not just to my daughter, to everyone. They are extremely dedicated to their craft and want all their dancers to embrace the art of Dance as well. I have watched my daughter fall in love with dance and this studio alike. I highly recommend Barfield School of Dance. In regards to claims from a couple people below about race, paper programs and rude behavior. These claims are completely garbage. I assisted this year the day of recital and the instructors and stage managers werent the issue. This family was. In regards to the programs, 5 recitals Ive been to and its always the same paper, which is beautifully color printed on yes paper. Not sure what the expectation was.... Some people are just ridiculous.

This year my daughter is starting her 10th year of dance classes at BSD. She began ballet and tap when she was 2. Over the years she has added additional classes. She has had other options outside of dance to spend her time but she always chooses dance at BSD. She has always felt loved and supported by the BSD staff. She has been in classes with children from different backgrounds and ethnicities and we have never seen anything but love shown to all.

Me and my older sister go to this class, and its great! The teachers arent too pushy, and they will be kind to the students if theyre having trouble. Theyre good at picking costumes for the dances, too. And theres this neat little dance store with all your basic dance needs. Like dance shoes, leotards, skirts/tutus, hairpieces, bags, and more! I highly recommend it.
