This weekend I decided to travel and review Five Senses, an upscale restaurant whose owner I met in the VIP section at Bonnaroo last year. He was very welcoming at the festival and invited me to visit the restaurant since I enjoy artisan gourmet foods. Fast forward nine months and I finally made the trip! This is going to be a treat. So here is my review without bias or embellishment. The storefront was clean and tidy with clear signage and a welcoming feel. Entering the restaurant was like walking into a well loved favorite hangout and I was seated immediately. I waited for the waiter. The menu, which is classy and beautifully succinct, showed offerings ranging from blackened salmon to beef tartare and the wine selection was equally diverse. I studied the menu and decided on the tartare for an appetizer and seared scallops as my entrée. The new potatoes sounded excellent as well and I would have requested them along with the appetizer. I finished my glass of water and refilled it from a beautiful glass decanter the hostess provided. And I waited for the waiter, or for another staff member to check on me since it had been ten minutes without a greeting. I attempted eye contact with staff members. At fifteen minutes I decided to forgo dinner but was curious how long a person could sit unattended at a well staffed restaurant. Twenty minutes, as it happened. The hostess stopped back by and seemed confused that the menus were still on the table and she kindly refilled my empty water glass from the glass decanter. I related this series of events to her and departed quietly. Giving her credit, she wanted to make it right, but by then my attitude had soured. Our discussion was cordial. To the owner I would like to express regret at leaving a negative review. I liked you and was impressed with your restaurant until the entire staff overlooked me. I will return to try again and will be happy to replace this review with a more complete one. No hard feelings.

FALSE ADVERTISING is the most accurate way to describe Five Senses "fine dining" claim. I would urge you to pay close attention to the comments that have been posted by 1-star reviewers. These are likely the most reliable. My wife and I found out, after the fact of course, that a substantial number of the 5-star ratings had been posted by stakeholders/friends of the restaurant. An excruciating 2 hours and 45 minutes was how long it took us to navigate this near painful experience. Food = lukewarm and subpar Atmosphere = not unlike that of a UK tailgate party or frat party Service = remarkably offensive and fine-dining illiterate I typically will spend $300 or more plus 30% gratuity at a fine dining event. At Five Sense, however, my bill was $102. Only because of my wifes insisting did I leave an $8 tip. Save your money! Get your Five Senses experience at your local sports bar/neighborhood pub.

Name is Bob Adkison I live in Murfressboro. All I can say that 5 Senses is a place to eat with good food and service. I am retired US Army and been around the world, I have eaten in top restaurants in New York, Vegas, Miami, and so on. This place is in that category, Price is reasonable but for good food you will pay more and you get good food and service. The wine list is superior they know their wines. I read some of the reviews but here is my take, price yes it is a little more but you get quality food. Portions if you wanted more go to a buffet this is a nice restaurant. The other complaints I dont know but give them a chance. This is a place to have a nice romantic dinner with your spouse or girlfriend. I want to stay thank you to my waitress and staff and chef for doing an outstanding job. 5 Senses will compete with any restaurant in Nashville. I am so glad I have a place to eat here.

I chose this venue to show my appreciation to some dear family friends. I could not have been more embarrassed with my decision. Great food, very poor service. Its a shame, the management was concerned enough to offer something to convince me to return and give them another chance. I am sincere when I say a free meal couldnt bring me back. Hopefully the management will read this and take the following to heart. With your current staff I suggest you no longer advertise as a 5 star restaurant. This hopefully will avoid further dissatisfaction with patrons and will bring more attention to the outstanding fare you offer. It had been suggested I would not find the "evening out" I was hoping for locally and I should seek such venues in Franklin or Nashville. I will listen next time.

Typically, people only review when theyve had a bad experience. This review is happening because Five Senses needs positive recognition for being an excellent restaurant. Our dinner was spectacular. From delicious bread to start, to our fresh appetizers, to our delectable entre, to our amazing desert. Everything was a wonderful taste experience that I cant wait to enjoy again. Our waiter was charming and attentive and helped make the dinner superb. Five Senses is highly recommended for a perfect date destination or an excellent meal. Enjoy and dont skip desert!

Five Senses is a fantastic dining experience. Unique in Murfreesboro, their menu changes according to the seasons and they have the best quality fish in the mid-state area. Beautiful veggies and great presentation and a dessert menu that is to die for. And the most special part, they care about their customers. You can pay some less for junk food and a little less for okay food. Here, you get it all for a moderate price. Not cheap, but then I try not to eat "fast food" anymore.

First of all, the picture you see on google for this restaurant are not the restaurant in question. There is no comparison to the BBQ place pictured. Five Senses offered us one of our best dining experiences since moving to TN ten years ago. The only disappointing part was that we didnt try it sooner. The food is prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. The service is thorough, but not intrusive. The only bad part is that it does tend to get a little loud.

Food first and local at that! Nearly all the veges on the menu were locally sourced from the towns farmers market, and the ones we had were put to excellent use by the chef and staff. The tomatoes & crab appetizer was superior in quality, taste, and preparation -- a stand out. Enjoyed a pleasant meal this evening accompanied by piped in jazz. First time there and will return when Im back in Murfreesboro. Well done!

If you want to have a culinary experience beyond mere mortal words, I suggest you check out this unbelievable restaurant. I had the duck with cherry glaze to die for. The people here are so polite, humble and worldly in their approach to food design...and creative design it is!! My friends had snapper and salmon equally as divine. The spirits are of a wide variety and the dessert unique and sooo tasty.

Ive been coming here for 8 years now. Outstanding food-- best seafood you can get in Middle Tennessee, definitely same-day fresh! Perfectly prepared dishes using fresh & local produce. Owner comes from a background at the CIA, so you know the passion is there. On top of all of that, the service is also incredible. THANK YOU, Five Senses, for providing something so irreplaceable in Murfreesboro!
