If you are someone who feels too insecure or anxious to show up at a gym, youll want to read my review. This is a serious review from someone who was way too self conscious to even think about stepping foot in a gym. Im going to tell you a story about me , BJ, Jeremy, KD, and Erica. Up until this afternoon, I was struggling so terribly with body image and fatigue. I knew I had to get my butt to a gym. For the last year Ive been trying to get up the courage to go, but the though of working out in front of people at a gym with my body issues and insecurities gave me so much anxiety. So much, in fact, that I cried and cried on the way to Planet Fitness Smyrna earlier this evening. I pulled into the parking lot, got out of my car, and went back to my car - TWICE! The windows were tinted so I couldnt tell what was going on in there; but I finally worked up the courage to walk in. I was greeted by the two sweetest, most calming young ladies. Their names are KD and Erica. I was so nervous, but they kindly guided me through the process of setting up my account. I eventually explained to them that I had not been to a gym in almost 10 years due to health issues and plenty of hospital visits, and that I was so nervous. They were so warm and sincere. Erica had some especially encouraging words, and KD even told me she was always around if I ever needed to talk. Then the manager, BJ, showed me around the place. He was so professional and so respectful. He encouraged me and told me that he wants me to feel confident and good about myself, and they are there to help. He took time helping me, and I didnt feel rushed at all. I also met the trainer, Jeremy. He reiterated BJS words and was very positive. Even though his schedule at that moment didnt allow him any time, he still managed to find a few minutes to talk to me anyway. He wasnt fake or cheesy. He was real and reassuring. The genuine kindness from these individuals was enough to keep me going back. But I have to comment on the facility..... by far, the cleanest gym I have ever been to. The equipment is well maintained, and there is such a good use of space. The area was very well laid out. They have plenty of equipment so you shouldnt have to wait for someone to finish their cardio before a machine is available. The free tanning, hydro massage beds with computer games, the massage chairs, the infrared saunas, the free personal training plans, the small classes, the stretching area, the abs area, the 30 minute full body workout class area.... way more than I expected. The members also noticed I was new, and several of the stepped in and just offered to help me. They werent invasive or anything. They were very subtle and kind. There were people of all ages, shapes, sizes, colors and fitness levels. I felt completely at ease with this crowd. And no one was grunting or making a show of themselves. I have ALWAYS HATED going to the gym. But I enjoyed my time there so much, that I lost track of time. I had been working out for over an hour and a half and hadnt even realize it. I will be going back asap! LOVE this place. No one asked me to write this review. No one paid me or compensated me. I was so touched by the people here, that I had to tell others who might have the same struggles I have.

Jeremy Warmath makes Planet Fitness in Smyrna, TN the best bargain in the whole state of Tennessee. As a career Air Force officer with thirty years of active duty around the world I have spent a lot of time exercising and in gyms. Yet even as a senior officer in the "executive" area of the facilities, I seldom experienced better treatment than the Smyrna Planet Fitness and NEVER BETTER training than Jeremy provides daily. My wife and I joined a couple weeks ago and planned to only commit to one month until we saw what the fitness sessions were like and if the attitude of the trainer matched the rest of the staff. Jeremy began with an interview and in depth evaluation of our current fitness levels, expectations and goals. Then he laid out a program tailored to our needs. He followed that by taking the time to walk through each exercise with us. He made sure we had the machines properly adjusted, the right weight, and good form. He explained which muscle group was involved, watched us perform a set and adjusted our form. I never had any facility take the time to be sure I understood and got it right to achieve the proper exercise. In follow up sessions, my wife and I were the only ones schedule so we basically had a private training session. At any other Gym or even the Y that would have cost hundreds of dollars. Yet at Planet Fitness it is included in the $10 monthly fee. Jeremy follows up every time we go in to provide encouragement and be sure we are making safe, proper progress on our work out. It just does not get better than the facilities, service, and team at Planet Fitness.

I was a member at the Murfreesboro Rd location for two years before moving to Smyrna. I transferred my membership online, but then showed up to the Smyrna location and was rudely told that I was not allowed in because I had not transferred my membership. I was then told to contact the Murfreesboro Rd store and they told me I had canceled even though I had never showed up to sign anything saying that I had canceled. Despite this claim, I was still being billed. I then drove up to Murfreesboro Rd thinking that by being there we could fix the issue. After arriving to the Murfreesboro Rd location, the manager showed proof that I had indeed transferred my membership to Smyrna and that they had already billed me for one month. He called their facility and explained all this to them and they believed him. I returned to the Smyrna location and explained to the manager about how I was denied entry even though I was a paying member. He did not accept any blame nor did he make any apologies. I was so appalled by his total lack of professionalism, that I canceled my membership on the spot.

Im VERY upset of the customer service, so I just receive a text message today telling me my payment hasnt gone threw so I check my account and I been charge a late fee for $16 so $26 I owe them and mind you none of them called me and told me anything about this I mean that why I gave them my debit card information to take the $10 out of it and my debit card seem fine to me. So I went in today and two black men was who I think were personal trainers saw me walking in I look at them and smile and ask them how were they doing, you now what they said NOTHING with a straight face and two customers came in and one the PERSONAL TRAINERS smile at THEM and said how you doing, BUT NOT TO ME and the white lady I explain to her what happened didnt help worth a DAM and made me pay the $26 so I cancel today. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I EVER EXPERIENCE. Oh and mind you again it was the same black men who didnt explain to me when I FIRST CAME IN TO SIGN UP NO SIMILE NO WELCOME!!!!! WORST PLACE WHEN I FIRST CAME IN AND LAST TIME I CAME IN IT WAS THE MORNING SHIFT TOO!!!!
