My wife went in to get her roots done and her hair trimmed and they charged her $300. She has been to avant salons before and never paid that price. She gets blonde highlights which she was quoted $130 for and they charged her $165. She asked for a simple trim of her ends and they sent her to pay $80. Now the price is not the issue (although it is ridiculous) but the fact that they tried to tell her she wasnt quoted a certain price that she was told she would be paying. She even told them a specific number for the tip and they overcharged the tip. When she asked for a refund the manager tried to make it seem like my wife didnt know what she was talking about and the stylist had charged what they charged my wife. The receptionist at the checkout had another price written down that my wife was shown which was the $130 and because the hair cutter had already trimmed my wifes ends they said there was no way around paying $80 for a trim. They never told my wife this is what the price of a trim is nor did they let her choose someone to cut her hair they simply chose for her. This was my wifes first time and last time at this location. They only refunded her the overcharge for the tip and gave her $20 store credit. The colorist was honestly amazing and her trim was great but you really need to have like a written statement of what the price will be and take a picture of this before You see anyone or get any service at this place. We had read reviews that this has happened to several other people as well but clearly werent prepared enough. We are very disappointed that this place has taken advantage of my wife and others and told her she didnt in fact see that specific price quote.

I went today for a haircut and style, and my appointment was with Leslie. It was fantastic! She seemed to take a genuine interest in what I wanted and cared about, asking me if there were any touch-up I would like or any areas I would like cleaned up after the cut (this is the first time any stylist has ever asked me for my opinion besides to say, "Do you like it?") She explained very clearly what she was doing and WHY she was doing it, which was something new to me too. Most of the time, they just say, "Im going to cut some layers into your hair to give it body." But dont really explain how it works. Leslie did. The environment was also really awesome there. It was the end of the day and all the stylists still seemed upbeat and happy to be there. They seemed to enjoy their jobs rather than just being there to make a buck. I would go out of my way to go here again.

Happy with the stylists and estheticians, but cant stand dealing with the ladies at the front desk. They make it feel like a car sales man experience. Almost every time Ive been there at the check out they want to charge me more than the service I specifically booked for. You need to have your reservation confirmation and its price on your phone ready before you approach them. They even wanted to charge me the wrong price for the exact same service and I had pull up their website on my phone and show them what is published on their website. Then she acted like she was doing me a favor by adjusting the price!!! If your website is wrong its your fault not mine. Fix your website before giving customers attitude. It takes the fun out of getting a facial or massage. It makes it a stressful situation when SPA should be relaxing experience. Not sure if Ill go back any more.

Ive been twice now to Avant Salon for haircuts. Both times I was treated well. Easy booking, greeted upon entry and offered water or coffee while waiting. I love the smell of the Aveda products. The Eucalyptus immediately helps me relax. My favorite part of the experience is getting the hair wash/massage in their dim washing room. It definitely helps you relax. The two salon stylists I had both listened to what I wanted. Lindsey gave me an amazing cut that was exactly what I needed. April gave me a very nice cut, but not what I was looking for. It took away the length I asked to keep and instead of shag layers to help my heavy, thick hair, I got very traditional layers that dont flatter my face. I will still go back though. The salon and its stylists are wonderful to interact with.

I have lived in Austin for 8 years and have been on the perpetual search for a great salon and stylist. My search is finally over. Avant is amazing. The location is great, the staff are friendly, the salon itself is modernly styled and very clean. I especially love the dark wash room. You truly get a relaxing experience when getting your hair washed and the Aveda aromatherapy they use just heightens your experience. Taya is my stylist and she is the best one ive ever had. Her energy and excitement are wonderful. She listens well to what I think I want and through her creativity interprets it into an amazing style. I also recently got my hair colored to enhance my haircut. The creativity of the staff and knowing what I want when Im not sure is truly amazing. Definitely 5 stars.

I have been getting my hair done over 10 years professionally. I was reccomended to this salon as I was told "They were professionals and the best" HA!!!! What a joke!!! They charged me over $135 for a partial highlights of just bleach! I walked out looking like I was 40 years older than I was with gray and green hair!! I had to go back and have a re-done which caused my hair to fall out. These people are a joke! Dont spend money on hyped up salons. Go to the ones you trust! I have to say though I noticed the girl in the next stall named angela give an all out academy award haircut to a girls hair that was rockn.!!!! That would be the only way I would go back is to see her for an awesome haircut, but Im letting my hair grow out.

I called today, March 27th, to book a facial and massage. I was hoping for the 4th of April, which I understand is only a week out. They didnt have availability, so I was hoping for 4/18. She said their (ONLY) massage therapist is going on leave and they dont know if/when they would have someone available so they could not schedule. I have a gift card and very limited availability - I guess they already got their money so they dont seem to care. Sheila didnt seem very helpful in trying to find a solution, either. If and when I ever get to use my gift card, that will likely be the only time I go there. I sure hope the experience is not like the first impression Ive gotten. What a bummer.

I have tried about 5 different salons since I moved to Austin looking for the overall experience from the cut/color to the service and atmosphere. I had no luck until I tried this salon! I set the appointment up for my mom and I came along. I decided to get my haircut while I was with her. She was getting a cut and color so they offered her a complimentary facial while her hair was processing and gave her some hand cream (which they were using to massage her hands while the color was being rinsed!) It was really nice to see my mom get pampered :) The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door and the style and cut was AMAZING!!! This is our new spot!
