The reason why I am rating this place 1 star is simple. They did not not stick to their 10 minute grace period. Heres what happened. So after finding out Friday morning that my regular barber had an emergency and wouldnt be able to do my hair that morning, I decided to see what other places in town had availabilities. High and Tight was recommended and plus, I had been there before once before. I set an appointment for 1:30 PM and planned my day/errands around this giving me time for my anticipated event that night. Around 11:30 AM when I realized I may be a bit late to my appointment, I called High and Tight barbershop (I wish I knew who answered the phone) to notify them and their respond was that I had a ten minute grace period. I told them I would def make it before 1:40 PM and if anything were to change, I would notify them to cancel. So I am rushing, seeing that Im already behind, trying to get things prepared for this big day and ready to get a great haircut from Ryan and all his great reviews. I make my way to High and Tight in Deep Ellum and am happy to see that I will just be 2-3 minutes late. As I get closer going east on Main, a wreck restricted me from crossing Good Latimer Expy to get to the barbershop so I figured waiting on traffic would keep me from getting their in time so I decide to park a bit further away. I speed my way to Ryan, practically sprinting, looking at my watch and realizing ill make it by 1:38, maybe 1:37 PM. I open the door at 1:37. At 1:38 ,the host assists me saying that Ryan is probably already gone, trying to explain to me that I will have to reschedule since I did not make it in time. I quickly asked, -"Do you guys have a grace period?" "Yes." -"Well how how much time do you give for the grace period?" "10 minutes." -"Its 1:38 and I also called to make sure this wouldnt be a problem." As the host and I are communicating, I receive a text notification at 1:39 PM saying my appointment was marked as a "no show" so I would have to reschedule. I keep my cool as he still continues to justify Ryans actions and trying to convince me to reschedule. I ask if I can speak to Ryan, knowing I do NOT want a cut from him. I wanted to approach him in a non-confrontational way and just let him know I felt and my opinion about this small predicament I found myself in. He goes to get him, but says Ryan is already gone. Even then, a couple other barbers doing hair decided they had something to say. My answer to most of their arguments (which were not very well thought out with things such as, "Well sometimes, clients say theyll be here but never show up." orrrr "A 23 min haircut will not be the same as a 30 min one.") was, "Doesnt that defeat the purpose of your ten minute grace period?" In Ryans defense, one thing that I can see happening here was that he did not get the message from the person who answered my call when I was concerned about not making it in time. But even then, Ryan, your job was to wait a couple minutes. Anyway, I bet yall are wondering about my night and if I ended up getting a cut. I did not get the chance to get a fresh cut but my night ended with a BANG ;) and thats no thanks to Ryan Standifer and the rest of his buddies at High and Tight in Deep Ellum.

I dont mind paying the right price for proper service, first of all I walked in on Sunday trying to get a haircut they where booked, so no luck there I was ask if I wanted an apointment I reply positively and we agreed on Monday at 7:30 p.m when I get to my apointment guess what yup they told me I had to wait the guy offers a beer I assuming he is almost done, but nope he was just starting, I got kind of disappointed, dint care much for it but it got very ocuard when two guys walk in and start to call names, I got up and left, in a business man my self and thats not how you do business guys STICK TO YOUR WORD GROW UP AND ASSUME RESPONSABILITY!! Thanks

For what it is worth, I am an outside sales rep and find it hard to maintain my beard day to day so that it looks good well groomed for meetings. Also in dfw I have had a hard time finding places that do a straight edge shave on beards. I went to high and tight 2 months ago and was fortunate enough to have Jordan cut my hair and trim my beard. Let me be very clear, JORDAN DOES AN OUTSTANDING JOB on both my hair and beard and I now will not go to anyone else in DFW because he has exceeded my expectations every time. Please do yourself a favor and go see Jordan for your haircut and or beard trim!

Went here for the second time after a great first experience with Mike(5 stars). This time I set up an appointment online with Lindsey. Last one she had available but the only one that worked with my schedule. Bad idea.....Im assuming she was scheduled to leave after my cut so she finished up in 15 minutes Flat. She did her job and got paid but she missed a lot of things that are clearly more obvious after hair had had time to grow. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. Terrible experience for a $40 dollar cut.

Hit or miss depending on who you have cut your hair, Ive found two of the stylists to be rude. Lindsey also came storming through the shop once acting unprofessional; she appeared to be annoyed with one of the employees who works "reception". Just gave off a bad and unwelcoming vibe. I have been going here since they opened but recently decided to find another place to get my hair cut due to the above encounters.

The art of blade and scissors! Please do yourself and your looks a favor and book an appointment with Jordan... It has always been a struggle finding someone this skilled with both the scissors and the straight razor. All you gotta do is sit on that chair and Jordan got it from there.. Nothing compares to such a fine cut, but the bar at the back makes the experience even better. Nice environment and good drinks.

The struggle to find a good barber is real, and thank God for High and Tight because I finally found one here. Jordan is one hell of a barber! I mean his haircuts are millimeter perfect, and theyre like that every single time. It takes me 30 mins to get there, which I dont mind, because I know itll be worth it. I just hope he sticks around because I am so sick of constantly looking for a good barber.

I dont live in Maine anymore, and I will wait for weeks or months to get my hair cut here when I come back to visit. Chris (and, presumably, his cohorts) can give you a glorious haircut for a shockingly reasonable price and are consistently affable, friendly, and accommodating. Will continue to recommend until I everyone on earth goes bald.

Haircuts by Jordan are a masterpiece. He has never disappointed.His skills with the clipper are a work of art. This guy is a magician with the razor and scissors. By far the most complete barber in town who has mastered all skills of his trade. The shop has a great environment and well decorated.
