Not a local Houston guy, but I needed to get a cut. Im used to a down home barber, I found this one on Google. Couple things about it, first off yea they can fade you up make a clean a$$ cut with designs, and give you an old school straight razor shave with a steam towel and hot shaving cream. But the two things I wasnt as fond of is the prices and the long wait time. but it was a Saturday afternoon and I only got a cut. Prices werent updated online, but adult cut is 20$ add a clipper neck shave its 25$, make that shave a straight razor shave and its 30$. I personally feel like 20$ is a bit more like a mainstream company price, most small places charge 12-15$, but i still got it bc I dont like contributing to places like supercuts, plus theyre quality isnt as good. Also if youve never been here, you can call ahead and set a time to come through and sit down and get cut. I did get passed up by 3 people with this method so those were the 2 reasons y I chose a 4 star and not a 5 star. Def a 5 star on the quality of cut though. KJ cut my hair and Im sure all 4 of them are excellent barbers that have been in the game for a long time.

ive been going to this barber shop for close to a year but i have been disappointed at every hair cut except the first one. Firstly, id like to say that i dont think the problem is all the barbers there. I think it is just the guy terrance, so do not sit in his chair. Almost everytime i come in i have to wait over an hour while he dawdles in someones hair as though hes painting the sistine chapel but when it comes to me i feel as though my hair cut is half assed. Ive received cuts on my head where he tries to do the shape up in addition to the fact that my hair is not even. I keep going because i dont know any other black barber shops in houston, but im leaving houston and im glad i can go get a decent haircut for the first time in a while somewhere else.

THE GOOD: Barbers were VERY professional. Cost was $10.00. Terrence did my sons hair and it turned out fabulously. Id read that he was really the one to get, and yet I watched the other barbers at work while waiting, and their work looked great as well! They served free donuts. They had vending machines and adequate seating in a clean waiting area with magazines. I didnt see the restrooms so I cant comment on that. THE NOT SO GOOD: Parking is good not great, and the outside of the building doesnt look like much. BOTTOM LINE: I will definitely take my son back, and recommend my husband go there too. My search for a Houston Black Barber is over!

I am new to the neighborhood and was looking for a new barbershop. I decided to visit raise based on a recommendation from a dapper colleague.I had an incredible experience.There were at least five Barbaras working so I had to wait no more than a quick five minutes. Alex cut my hair and he was very friendly to speak to and he was even able to fix a previous bad haircut.. I am always skeptical about a new barber but I could not have been more happy with my experience here. I will definitely be back on my lunch break and would recommends his place it to anybody working in the Tribe ca or financial district

Ive been getting my hair cut from John for nearly 3 years and its one of the best moves that Ive made since moving to Houston. Its one of the first shops that Ive been to that takes appointments, because I hate waiting at the shop. Lots of shops can cut hair well, but its rare to find a shop thats clean, has wireless internet, and takes appointments. Although John gets busy, I cant imagine going anywhere else.

Never again. Your "vision" is not necessary in place of the images shown and desired. I will not return or recommend "T" for scheduling an appointment for a certain time yet waiting over an hour to be seen especially when the appointment was made at 7:30 am. I asked for a cut I wanted not what You felt like. So disappointed.

These guys are artists at work when it comes to haircuts. They really pay attention to detail. They also take it very seriously when it comes to hearing you and understanding the haircut you want. I happy to say that now I have an official barbershop for whenever I visit Houston in the future!

5 yr customer. Everyone had their flaws, but I wouldnt go to another shop. I searched Houston for months until I came upon Joe Black at the 3rd on Scott. Although I hated that shop the cuts were on point. Since then Black has moved to MLK, and so did I and about 90% of his customers

Best barbershop Ive been to in town. I call ahead for my appointments so my wait time has never been extensive. I appreciate my barber(Titus) taking his time and giving me a quality cut and shave. I highly recommended a Joe Black haircut to anyone looking for a good shop.

I have been going there for about 7 months. I set an appointment and reduce the wait. Haircut is always on point. They even work with me when I forgot to set an appointment. I drive about 20 minutes to come here and its worth it.

This family owned and operated shop delivers top cuts for a reasonable cost. The shop is very nice on the inside and even has a "Manicure Cave" for guys to get hands/feet taken care of.
