Despite the bad reviews between Google and other review sites I decided to give this place a shot because the good reviews seemed to balance it out and its close to the house. Now I believe all of the reviews that talk negatively about the owner. The first time I went in I waited a little over an hour to get a haircut and beard trim. After I got in the chair and realized how much time this guy was putting into the detail, the long wait didnt bother me at all. I was very happy with the haircut and beard trim. Today, a week and a half later, I went back for the second time. I got there before they opened and there were two people ahead of me. I walked inside to wait it out and had a seat in one of the 3 empty lounge chairs right inside the door. The guy at the front (owner) tells me I need to go have a seat in the back by the guy that will cut my hair. I asked if I could just sit in the lounge chair because the benches in the back were uncomfortable and caused my back to hurt. The owner of the business said, "Look man, this is my area and when my people come in here they need a place to sit. You need to go sit back there by Rodrick." Again, there were 3 empty seats. This may not be a big deal to some people but when Im about to pay $40+ for a haircut and beard trim I dont expect to be treated rudely and discriminated against by the business owner. This place really puts off the vibe that if you arent friends with them personally then you wont get good service. I definitely wouldnt recommend just walking in.

This was the best haircut and barbering experience Ive had in YEARS. Anthony is an artist at what he does and a true master of the trade. Ive been to every barber I could find in the area over the years and the haircut as well as the service I received at Mentality was by and far above the rest. If you like classic clean cuts with imaginative flair by an artist that knows mens hair and can envision what youre requesting then go to Anthony at Mentality. The lounge is just that, a lounge. Its not your standard Barber Shop. One enters and feels relaxed and at home. Yes, the prices they charge are higher than what many may be used to but you get every pennys worth. Anthony and his staff were very friendly and welcoming and the haircuts are far above the standard of mens haircuts in the Houston area in my opinion.

Easily the worst barber Ive ever been to In my life. The owner said his name was Anthony? Hes a complete prick. Very rude and forceful attitude/arrogant man. And the quality of the hair cut I received (which was way over priced) looked like a 1 eyed man did it. Seriously though side burns uneven, left hair in the back way long. It was a simple cut. Please anyone if looking for a hair cut DO NOT USE THIA PLACE!! Youre better off cutting it yourself with a dull pair of sheers and eyes closed cuz thats about how good anthony was.

Started off fine... great atmosphere....ok haircut.... very overpriced.... On the third or fourth visit... the main barber by the door everyone is naming Anthony begin to state ... "people who paid for all of this are people with appts" as if my walk in 30$ in mula did not satisfy him.... encouraging me to make an appt for a $50 + up haircut.....very arrogant... avoid this place... plenty of barbershops throughout this area ... not worth the trouble

Ive been going to this barber for atleast 6+years and everytime Ive went Ive left very satisfied! To see where Anthony (the owner) started and where he is now is nothing less than a blessing! He runs a clean, professional, &safe working environment that I now bring my son to. No complaints from this end, keep up the great work!!

Absolutely love this place. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a welcome, how can we help you. Polite and friendly. My sons barber Rob is great. He pays attention to my 6 year old and really converse with him. I recommend anyone to go there.

I was to new to Houston and stumbled upon this barber shop...freshly faded and edged up ever since. My main man Roy and the owner Anthony have both cut my hair and shaved me with a straight razor; time and time again they have done a great job.

The guy in the front is a real a#%hole. Picky about where you sit and charges if you miss an appointment. Bad business and would not recommend friends or family to go there. Just sayin.

Rodrick does a really good job on kids, my 5 year old wont sit still for me, but freezes for Rodrick. The cuts are always perfect.
