I was skeptical about going a 2nd time but did after 1yr. Took my boys. I was a walk in on Sat. Walked in, Guy welcomed me...GREAT!... Asked if I had an appt or walk in... I said walk in. Nothing else was said....He was the only barber there from the looks. We then waited over 1.5 hrs as there were 2 kids ahead of us....and then another appointment of his came in. I knew that would be bout another 30-45 minutes.... I thought maybe just maybe another barber would come... After all, it was a Saturday. It didnt happen. So...me and mines got up to leave.... Barber says let me give you my card....uhm... No thanks... Barber says, you can make an appt next time.. Uhm no can do...Barber says.... Any barber shop is swamped on Saturdays... Hes actually RIGHT!.. however, they have a team of barbers there as its a busy day and some actually communicate with you and respect you for even coming to their shop especially if you are not a regular customer because they see NEW BUSINESS....Appointments are great, I respect that. Not a problem... Your everyday person may say, "thats on you, you shouldve made an appointment, you know what it is".... Thats fine but NOT strategic thinking for organic growth for business owners to agree with as there is a niche of customers that walkin all the time and should be given some respect as well and maybe theyll come back and build your business. Heres the issue: why not tell your walk-ins how long the wait will be so that they are not just sitting for hours.... Why not say up front... Im booked, Im the only scheduled to cut today ~~>BUT let me get your name and number..OR sign in here on my appointment schedule at the open times OR say...you can go grab something to eat and come back at such and such time OR I can text you if an appointment dont show up out of courtesy in efforts to attract a new customer with multiple heads that need cut OR offer other services such as " Im booked, appreciate you coming, look here... We do mobile house calls if you ever need" .... Would have been nice to have been told, I got 4-5 ahead of you, theyre not here yet.... Customer could then make decision on to leave and come back, schedule or go elsewhere... That wouldve been very appreciated!!!! I could have ran some errands or whatever versus sit that long without being told nothing. Not saying anything nor having a customer service driven business model hurts businesses. Moment of truth, it says this was a Neighborhood Award chain. Im wondering how as it relates to this location. There are no African American barber shops except for this one that is close to where I live but I cant help but to wonder if there is a "dont care" mentality to the details of business practices because of the lack of competition. People say support black businesses but when certain practices are not exercised people go to a competitor and give bad reviews. I had JUST got through talking to a guy and we were talking about things like this and then this happens. There is so much potential at this location to capitalize off of but if a more business oriented African American barber shop opened in close quarters, its been a wrap on obtaining clientele that will pay above what you charge simply for the service factor, respect and environment. Why cant it be a norm to extend some courtesy no matter what stream of business you fall under coming to a business for service. Its sad but I had a gut feeling this was going to happen and it should NEVER be that way for a customer. It honestly pushes people away from supporting AA businesses. I hope things get better but Im done with the mission support .... Im seeking out those that fall under customer service driven as a value.

Was going on everyone! When I moved to the area I had no idea where to go to get my hair cut. I asked around and checked on the internet and tried a couple of places. I really wasnt feeling any of them enought to go back then I heard about the Fade Shop. The first time I steped into the spot they welcomed me and asked if Id ever been in and told me to have seat and they would take care of me. Ive been going back every two weeks for the past 6 months and I have no complaints just praise and I feel lucky to have found this place. Ervin aka Slick cuts my hair, hes the man makes me feel right at home and does his thing. A couple of times when he was out of town reppin for the shop at various award shows I got my cut from the other barbers and they ALL know what there doing. DFW youre not gonna find a better barber anywhere or a cleaner community shop anywhere so do yourself a favor and head in.

Save your money, your hairline, and your self respect & go elsewhere. Crappy cuts, crappy customer service/welcoming, and the audacity to think they are important because they "cut" athletes and celebrities hair. Never again. I rather look like the shaggy dog than for one of these guys to butcher my head. Come to think of it, not a single person had a crisp line after their cut. You'd fair better if you had mike tyson punch a billy goat in both eyes and fed him heroin laced brownies, gave him a straight razor, and told him to give you a 1.5 wave length ceasar cut.

Went here as a walk in with my two sons only to sit for a half hour with a empty parking lot only to find out no other barbers were showing up and the barber who was there was booked for the day keep in mind its only 10 in the morning. Then he gave me a card to set up an appointment with another barber who wasnt there and didnt answer when i called. My sons were so disappointed because like everyone else they wanted a good barber with the hoodie award tied to it they dont wanna go back.

I just moved to McKinney from the Austin are about 6 months ago and have been looking desperately for a reliable barber. I visited a couple of places around town referred to me by some coworkers and none of them ever worked out for me. My mom then told me about The Fade Shop, so I went in for a walk in and was greeted by Mill who preformed my cut exactly how I wanted it and gave me his card so I could make further appointments. I can now say Ive finally found a barbershop I can rely on.

I have been coming to this location for the past year. The experience every time is wonderful. Mills is great at his craft, and makes everyone feel welcome to his treats every customer with respect, and does a great job. His dedication to his clientele is the reason he has so many loyal customers. I have and will continue to come here to get my hair cut by a true artist! Thanks Mills! Would recommend appointments, especially on weekends! He has an app to book, easy! Adrian

I had a very positive experience with the Fade Shop in McKinney. It was my first time ever going to a barber and Magik Mill hooked up my do! I have natural hair and was in need of a change and he took care of me. I am always getting compliments! I have been twice and called in for an appointment each time, which I have always assumed was "the thing to do" to secure an appointment.
