They tell you what you want to hear, then foul it all up and try to make it all your problem, and your fault. I asked for estimates from a couple of companies for gutters for my home. The representative from Phillips impressed me most - he made it clear that they would do the best job, and do everything they could to ensure I was satisfied with the job. First mistake they made, they helped to advise me on the color, and when they showed up to install the gutters, the color was way off, so they had to cancel, go and re-order the gutters with a new color, and come back two weeks later. I did have ultimate say on color, yes, but they are the experts with the experience, and should have been better equipped to help me make the right decision the first time. Second mistake they made, they walked my property to come up with my estimate, showed it to me, showed me where all the gutters and downspouts would be installed, and said nothing about splash guards and diverters. Given that I know nothing about gutters, I did not ask any questions about splash guards and diverters - I didnt know to ask. I made the mistake of thinking I had hired pros that know how to install these items as part of the job, and where all they are needed. One has to assume that if there is something that is NOT needed, but present on every other house on the block, they will explain to you why they are not needed - but that didnt happen. When the job was done, I had one damaged shingle and two rain diverters that were missing. I asked them to fix the shingle, and because nobody spoke English, they had no clue what to do - didnt understand me. I called my rep, who had promised to be proactive, and asked him to get them back out here to fix my shingle and install the two diverters they had forgotten. Three weeks went by and I had not heard anything from them. I called them again, and it was obvious that nothing had been done on their end to get the wheels in motion to fix my shingle or come back with the diverters. We then got into an argument where he told me that they dont do diverters, (would have been nice to know in the beginning!), as they are ugly and nobody wants them. Well, I want them, but what do I know I am just a customer - now that I know more about it, and can plainly see that I have two spots where rain is going to stream off of my house, I want them and think they should have installed them. At the very least, it should have been pitched to me in the beginning about all of the splash guards and diverters, and their attitude about it. This is just not the rosy experience I was pitched up front. They wanted to charge me $75 to come back and install two diverters (I have found them online for as low as $4) Ill gladly pay them for the diverters, but at this point, I think they should be bending over backwards to fix this mess, not adding fuel to the fire - essentially, they got the job, got my money, and now dont want to follow through on the promises of making sure the job was done right, being proactive, and making sure I was satisfied. Im not asking for a lot here - fix my shingle in a timely fashion, and while you are up there, bolt on a couple of $4 pieces of metal for me, that you forgot to add. 10 minutes work, tops? They tell you all the things you want to hear up front, but once the job starts, if mistakes are made, they become your problem - and they dont move very quick to come back and remedy them (shingle), and dont want to make things right if they leave something out, like they said they would - they treat you like YOU made the mistake by not catching THEIR mistake in the beginning. And to try and charge $75 for essentially $8 worth of parts - ridiculous. They came across like they were "better and different", but ultimately they are like all the other contractors, tell you anything to get the job, then dont deliver on all of it... and almost a month later, my messed up shingle is still flapping in the wind...

We originally contacted Phillips for a quote on whole-house gutters. While at the house, I had mentioned to David Turk that we were also in the process of obtaining quotes for an interior remodel, including refinishing our kitchen cabinets. We loved the cabinetry, but they were the pickled finish and we were changing to a linen glazed finish. He offered to submit a quote for the project. We were apprehensive about the whole refinishing process since, if not done properly, it could have meant an additional cost of replacing all of the cabinetry. We obtained four quotes from different companies, which varied by more than $10,000. Phillips worked around our crazy work, school, and remodeling schedules. The three men that completed the job were fantastic! They were professional, on time, pleasant, and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Upon begining the process, we had mentioned that we were unsure of how the glaze would look and wanted to make sure it wasnt too much of a contrast with the linen base color. The job foreman suggested that the original glaze we had chosen may be too light and he didnt think we would be happy with the finished look. He offered a variety of colors and recommendations and wanted to paint a couple of doors to be sure that we chose the one we liked the best. We asked that he choose the combination that he thought would work best and use those colors on the first door. It was perfect; no need to paint another sample. He knew his stuff! Having our kitchen disassembled for almost a week, along with the paint fumes (which they warned us about prior to starting) could have seemed like a major intrusion, but it was actually a pleasant experience and we enjoyed having them in the house. David Turk was our contact throughout the process; however, because of our schedule, we booked the job during his vacation. The gentleman who filled in for him (I wish I could remember his name), kept in constant contact to make sure that everything was going according to plan. When Mr. Turk returned, he also followed up to make sure that we were satisfied with the finished project as well as the whole process. We couldnt be happier with the kitchen and the finished product. I will continue to recommend Phillips for any services which they provide and we will certainly use them for future projects.

June 2013. We just had the interior of our house repainted. With the exception of one room, the whole interior. Not a small job. Vaulted ceilings and all. The color change was dramatic, going from a light brown to more whites and light cream colors. PHILLIPS PAINTING DID OUTSTANDING WORK. The job was a complete 3 days. In fact the last day the painters were here for 12+ hours. This was fine by me, Im happy they finished sooner. Anyway, they were very complete. Moving furniture and covering EVERYTHING to avoid paint splatters. When they were done we kept the extra paint (not that much, which was nicer.) and they cleaned up. The house was cleaner after they left than before they started. The final step in the painting process is for them to go through the house and touch up any little details, like trim work etc. They even went so far as to fix some of my mistakes from a paint job I did myself last year. The salesman, Robby, was very professional, and writes easy to understand estimates, with everything laid out and explained. He is very good at communicating and did exactly what he promised. The bill was not cheap, but in line with the other estimates we got. Phillips Painting was patient in waiting for me to make my decision and then scheduled the work to start just a week later. Awesome! One mistake my wife and I made was picking out a color that we just didnt like in one of the bathrooms. It was just a little too pink. The painting crew didnt even question our decision to have it re-painted to a better color. They were entirely professional in every aspect, showing up when they said they would and explaining what they were doing along the way. I will definitely use Phillips Painting again, We found them through the Dallas area 5 star ratings book of contractors. (Search Google to find it.) Thanks again, My wife is happier than she has been in a while. I suppose a nice fresh house to start her summer might do that.
