I belong to the Krav Maga Houston North FAMILY, and thats truly what they are - family! The staff really does take care of their clients! Josh Allgood has consistently displayed genuine professionalism that is friendly and welcomes all of my cares and concerns. The staff and the instructors actually care about how I adopt the fundamentals and they WANT to see that I am succeeding. Joe Morris pays attention as he teaches and has continually demonstrated the innate ability to show me correction in a drill WHILE encouraging at the same time. Trea Drakes SUPER creative extreme fitness routines and warm-ups allow me to enter into the drills and techniques that he teaches that preceding or succeeding hour. Chris Williams couples awareness and scenario education into each hour that I train. Its important to all of the instructors and the apprentices that I am succeeding in my reaction, control, attack, and taking. They pour much of their skills and experience into making sure my success is attainable. C.J. Kirk and his teams at the Kirby location and North location even make sure that when Im not on the "training clock" that my mindset is focused on awareness and better absorption of training by sending out their Kravology continuing education via email and on facebook. The special guest seminars of which they hold with Darren Levine once or twice a year are STELLAR and provide knowledge base that you can not obtain from another organization for the price they offer as a member. Joe Morriss active concern for womens knowledge of self-defense enlists him to hold seminars for the community. The students with which I am privileged to train, take the hour they are there seriously and have displayed concern to make sure each other has the technique down. Constructive criticism and constant communication are valued among my peers! Everyone keeps their hygiene maintained and even though we all sweat and stink by the end, we all come back to the next class in cleaned up gear and attire! The Krav Maga Houston North facility has always been cognizant of keeping all of the tools with which I train in good condition. The floor mats are maintained. The tombstones and kick pads are never torn up or have undone seams. There is always wet wipes to wipe off the bags and equipment. THERE IS ALWAYS TOILET PAPER IN THE GIRLS BATHROOM! The temperature is always great and it does not have odors. Overall, if you desire to move and improve your health while ACTIVELY using your mind and practicing defense for yourself or a third party, you will want to take the initiative and invest your time and energy... the returns on your investment are priceless.

First off, I want to say that from my experience here, I think the training is legit, and I am planning to try it out to see if its worth it but there are some fairly serious cons to this school, and it mainly is about the way they approach potentially new students and how they approach school fees. Currently, if you are interested in Krav Maga (KM) at this school, you will need to first pay $20 for a Saturday seminar for them to even really delve into any specifics. If you come in after work to learn more, youre basically out of luck unless you come in on Saturday for the seminar. So even if you want to sign up on a weekday, you cant because they dont discuss pricing until AFTER the seminar. Sort of odd I thought, but I waited till the weekend for the seminar. The seminar is basically a glimpse into some of the activities of one of the KM classes and you do get to work out so that made me feel like I basically paid for a single class (although $20 is fairly pricey). However what really annoyed me was how secretive everything was when it came to discuss school fees. First off, NOTHING is in writing except on their own personal laminated cards. And whats in writing is similar to how a car dealership runs which is price everything much much higher - like the $200 initial sign up fee. Who in their right mind would pay $200 just to have the ability to sign up?! Then in a car salesmans fashion, they tell you that since you came in "today" the special price is some X amount off of the laminated card pricing usually $10-20 off per month, and the sign up fee is really like $0-40 depending on your luck. In the end, its possible to have a similar pricing membership as most gyms, but it requires maybe coming in on a certain Saturday for this price or speaking with so and so and getting a special price. I have studied at various martial arts schools in the past, and every other studio simply publish their pricing for those who can pay it. I dont understand why its so hard? Why make people pay $20 to find out that they cant afford it?? I think its poor form to charge people to find out what you are about. Its like a restaurant charging you to see their dining room and menu. How likely are you going to come back? Again, I will be trying out their program because I see that training is legit, schedule and location is good for me. I am for now giving them the benefit of doubt, but for any newcomer who wants to try it out. Be prepared for this type of experience and demand to know what it costs when you walk in the first time and not after you pay the $20 to find out it wont work out.

This review is specifically for the North Houston location. Lets start off with the good, the actual Krav Maga class I attended was awesome! The instructor was engaging and attentive and recognized the fact that some people were beginners and was very helpful and mindful of this and took out time in class to personal demonstrate the techniques and moves. Overall, tough but great instructor. This is why this place gets one star from me for the awesome Krav Maga classes. On the other hand, the extreme fitness class was a total fail. The instructor was not engaging at all with most of the students, and there was minimum instruction, and she seemed really bothered whenever people asked for help. Heres what got me, I came in excited because I was looking for something to help supplement my muay thai training. Thought Krav Maga would just the thing, but boy was I wrong. Once I got there and signed that contract, I became another number to add to their bottom-line. In fact, whenever I invited a friend to come along with me to try out a class, the general manager not only made us wait an hour to speak with him, but he acted like we were bothering him. I havent stepped in the gym in over 5 months and I have yet to receive a courtesy call or email for the matter asking about how I was enjoying the gym or its services. But, then again maybe Im just spoiled by the fact that the gym I train with for muay thai does that and seems to care about its members. One of my biggest complaints is how in the world are you recommending and even allowing people to take classes such as extreme fitness, if theyve never picked up a kettle bell before, this can be very dangerous for someone inexperienced to just go in there and just to use one. How can a gym just recommend a person that hasnt worked out in awhile to try something out like so? I started doing some personal training at another local gym and was absolutely amazed by the better quality and instruction, and PROPER training a person needs for training with equipment like kettle bells. I would only recommend this place for the Krav Maga, as people said maybe the instructors at night are better or actually care about their students. The general manager needs a serious attitude adjustment, but in the end its just proved to be another gym that cares more for the money and meeting their bottom-line. Needless to say I wont be going back!
