My older daughter went to S48 for 6 years and my younger daughter for 3 years. For the first 4 or 5 years it was a great experience. However, as my older daughter got to be about 7 or 8 years old I noticed she was not being taught any new skills. So much emphasis was being put on learning cute dances that she wasnt being taught more advanced technique skills, despite being on the "Premier Team." At 4 years old in her dance she did a single pirouette. At 9 years old in her Premier Team dance she was still only doing a single pirouette and a right leg extension she had been doing for years. About December, "Technique Class," turns into extra show team practice so in actuality girls are only getting technique about half the year. I knew in January of the dance year that I would be moving my girls to a studio where they would actual be taught and pushed to be a skilled dancer. However, I knew they were far behind other girls at more elite studios. I decided to enroll them in technique at a different studio to bring them up to speed when we made the switch a few months later. This did not go over well with Studio 48, especially with Jake. I was asked to meet with him and Dallas in his office. I explained to them that I did plan to take my girls to another studio when the season was over because the S48 product no longer met our needs. My girls wanted more opportunities than only learned a Jazz Dance to compete at three local competitions. Jake offered me $500 to take my daughters and part ways. Mind you, this was a week before the first competition of the season. Pettiness was going to trump doing what was best for the team. I was also asked to keep this quiet. I can imagine it wouldnt be received well for other customers to know they were offering money for girls to leave due to hard feelings. I declined the offer and Jake reiterated that I would still get all the costumes I (over)paid for, dance shoes, tights, etc in addition to the $500. I declined the offer because it would not be fair to my daughters to work all season and walk away because of pettiness. Prior to this experience, I knew the S48 product no longer met our needs. However, after this experience I knew the owners were not people I would like to give my business or money to any longer.

I am not one to make reviews, but I had to after reading some of the comments on Google review. It surprises me how some people think that if they dont pay their bill that the owners should write it off and forgive the debt! They are running a business, and yes they want to make money (that’s what you do. Why start a business to come out even or lose?) My children were NEVER made to feel like a number. I have had 5 kids that have attended, and they all loved the teachers, and the positive experience. The office and studio is always clean. I would receive a monthly news letter that kept you informed of what was going on for the month as well as in the future months. You could review your bill online and even pay online. They are so well organized at parades in the summer, to recitals and photos. They tell you all the cost up front, so if you can’t afford it don’t put your child in. Costumes are expensive no matter what studio you use. I have used Studio 48 ever since they moved into Kents plaza. I too have dealt with “the guy” Jake has been easy to work with. I have had questions about things and I have gone in and spoken with him and he has explained things to me so I would understand, and he was never rude about it. We have used another studio before them and tuition, and costume fees are similar, but what is not similar is that Studio 48 is so well organized. Don’t let the negative comments of a disgruntle customer scare you or stop you from using Studio 48 they really do run an amazing business!

STUDIO 48 is AWESOME!!!!!.... My daughter started there when she was 3 and loves it. We moved to syracuse in 2007 and tried another dance studio that was closer, they were so unorganized and did nothing for the girls- no trophies, no rewards, no nothing. We went back to STUDIO 48 in 2008 and she was so far behind all the other girls she had danced with before but she quickly caught up. She has been on the comp team for the past 3 years and loves every minute of it. It is like a huge family there, all the teachers and Jake and Dallas have become not only my daughters dance studio but our friends.....I am so PROUD to have my daughter at STUDIO 48.....I love that Dallas has such a passion for sprortsmanship, just because your competing doesnt mean you cant be happy for other teams or cheer for other studios.....It amazes me that some of those other studios dont even acknowledge anyone but themselves, they are all just kids and they are suppossed to have fun....Thanks Jake and Dallas for everything you have done for our daughter and our family.....WE LOVE STUDIO 48 and couldnt be happier......

Ive been a little bothered by a few of the negative reviews. My girls have danced at Studio 48 for the last 4 years. Weve had great experiences and had wonderful teachers. I know "the guy" on reviews, he deals with all the accounts. We had a hard time for a few months, I went and spoke to him about what could be done, he accommodated us so well! He even waived the late fees! My girls continued in there classes. I was in the studio the other day and asked him about some of the reviews, he was truly sad. He explained that he was aware of them, he also knew exactly who wrote them and why. He said they were very very past due accounts that had ignored his attempts to work something out. It was a very different story than I read on these reviews. Dallas, the owner is so sweet, Im always impressed that the costumes and dance moves are tastefully choreographed. Ive loved all my girls costumes, weve keep every single one of them (partly because they are expensive, but whos heard of "cheap" dance costumes?) I would highly recommend Studio 48 for anyone!!!!

The dance studio is well maintained and in great shape. I make my payments on time so I dont seem to have a problem there, but I have seen them work with those struggling to pay. There is a monitor in the main room for parents to watch the dancers in class (and there is no monitor in the office, not sure what Josephine is talking about), plus the first practice each month is open for the parents to observe. They have invested a lot in making sure that no one can peer into the studios from outside the studio which as a parent makes me feel good. You do get 4 free tickets to the recital only extras are charged. Overall a good place dont let the negatives here prevent you from checking them out , seems that there are couple disgruntled people trying to cause a problem
