I was so happy to find Adagio Ballet 3 years ago. The teachers were good and the ballet company was still small enough that politics werent an issue. My daughter loves ballet and has completely enjoyed "growing up" with Adagio. Unfortunately that has changed. My daughter was so excited to be recommended to the intensive ballet program this fall- she works hard and practices all the time-- and though Im her parent-- she is quite the athletic and impressive little dancer. However, a month into the program the ballet studio says they have made a mistake and want to demote her. My guess-- because of other parents who were mad their daughters werent promoted were complaining. I was totally aghast and mortified that a ballet studio would CRUSH an 8-year old girl for politics. Wow. Im sorry -- but this isnt the Washington Ballet School or even NOVA Ballet. I would never recommend this studio to anybody. To hurt a little girl for politics or whatever is unreal and totally disgusting.

Sveltana Marintchev and her staff at Adagio Ballet have created a wonderful dance program and facility. My daughters were there at the beginning, and today, they still attend Adagio dance classes. "Grace and Memories for Life" is the principle that has guided Sveltana as an instructor in the studio, as a manager selecting her staff, and as a producer of the schools impressive annual recital. The grace and discipline learned in the Adagio studios show every time my daughters grand jeté from the diving board, changement on the soccer field, or demi-pliè in the studios or at the school bus stop. My 6th graders poise in front of a classroom to give a presentation can be traced back to her preschool days with Ms. Svetlana. Whether for toddlers or their grandparents, with two left feet or a dance scholarship to Julliard, there is a welcoming class awaiting at Adagio.

We once made the mistake of moving to another school closer to home. Do not fall for that trap! This school combines the elusive trifecta of kind instruction, inspired routines and an engaged parent experience. My 6 year old daughter can be...how shall we say...distracted at times, as is normal! But her instructors routinely re-engage her with compassion and creativity. There is almost never a night that passes now without her giving a spontaneous ballet performance at home - often at the expense of my furniture arrangements. Weve even added another back-to-back class and Ms. Attention Deficit loves it, despite two hours of non-stop instruction! We are going on 4 years here and I recommend this studio without reservation, we truly look forward to Saturdays!

This is the best dance school I have found in all of Northern VA. So I have been dancing here since I was 2 years old, I am now 13 and I love it here! I took a break a year ago to do competion teams, and I missed adagio! I take jazz, hip hop, and am trying out modern and lyrical. I do 3 dance classes at other studios too and adagio is the studio I prefer! They have AMAZING teachers and their choreo is also spectacular! I once took a class where there were two seven year olds and there was a 12 year old girl, me. I thought that the class would be easy because there were tiny kids in it, but instead the teacher ( Ms. Jordan) made it challenging and fun! I love adagio and reccomend that u go here if you love dancing!

Our daughter has taken dance at Adagio Ballet and Dance School from its founding. We adore the teachers, we adore the program, and we have always been very impressed with the rigor of the instruction and care of the teachers. They believe in fundamentals, they believe in hard work, and they believe in having fun at Adagio - which is why our daughter has stayed with the program all these years. Our daughter also has made close friends at Adagio, and her skills have transferred wonderfully in athletics and more generally in social life: she is more poised and confident as a result of her training at Adagio. We are very lucky to have this dance school in northern Virginia - I have no hesitation giving Adagio 5 stars!

Adagio is an amazing dance school! My daughter has blossomed through, and because of their programs - her skills, confidence, enthusiasm and joy for dance have all been kindly and professionally nurtured by Adagios incredible team. All of the faculty and staff are fantastic. Their programs are developmentally appropriate in all ways - not only advancing dance abilities, but general development, too. And they are always there to answer any parent questions or respond to ideas and comments promptly and sincerely. I cant imagine a better dance school and am so happy we are part of the Adagio family - thats how it feels to us, so much more than a "just" a program or classes!

I have two daughters attending Adagio. My older daughter has been attending for four years and and my little one has been blossoming at Adagio this year. My older daughter has developed a love for dance and is very upset on days we do not have dance class. This year she is at Adagio four days a week and would be happy to do more. The teachers at Adagio have excellent technique and really do a wonderful job of truly teaching the children the art and language of dance. The classroom is run with discipline and attention to detail, but they also make it tremendous fun. My daughter hopes to be a ballet dancer and teacher when she grows up!

Our two daughters have been taking lessons at Adagio Ballet for years and it is a wonderful school. The teachers are very committed and caring. For the very young dancers, they incorporate classical ballet steps into a fun, magical program that centers around stories children know and love. For the older children, they have a variety of classes, including intensive ballet classes. A Company class focuses on choreography and performance, and truly leads the children to new heights.

I only have my daughter half of weekends and they were flexible with my schedule; my daughter loves it; the instructors are wonderful; service is great; the facility is gorgeous and just opened a great new in-house black-box theatre. This is the place to go with young children (my daughter is 4.5 and is in her second session), and I expect older children as well though I dont have that personal experience.

My 7-year-old daughter has been coming to Adagio Ballet in Arlington for four years and she loves it. She is not the princess ballerina type, who also love Adagio, but rather likes ballet for its beauty and fun and the challenges it offers her. The winter and spring recitals are excellent productions. My daughter also enjoys at least one week of ballet camp in the summer.

Great school! My three-year-old loves it! Her instructor is wonderful at both teaching her ballet moves and terms while keeping the class fun and accessible for such a young group.
