I was born and raised in cvl, this place is a barber shop for southern gentlemen. Not for your stupid gelled up mop on your head. Ken Staples is a local icon and if he were able I know he would still be working everyday. I havent always gotten the absolute best cut here Ill be honest, but also as a dude, it is my understanding that hair does indeed grow back, and life does go on, even if a couple hairs got missed. Someone else on here complained about how they keep track of whos up next. Wow, take a number genius, if theyre not doing numbers than its slow enough to remember. Whoever wrote that review needs his skull cut not his hair.

I never get what I ask for. I have tried to give this place chance after chance because it is in such a convenient location for me, but they blow it every time. I dont think they know what "fade the back" even means. When I come home after a haircut at Staples I always have to cut the hair around my ears they missed. I have to admit I dont have a usual barber there because my schedule is erratic, but I know from experience the last two chairs are risky at best. Taking my business back Chungs. Chungs is out of the way but its cheaper and they do a better job.

Ive been going here for a while but recently stopped after a haircut that was just too bad. They second guessed my haircut request and straight up told me it "Dont do that it wont look good." After pressing they cut it and it turned out well except that she cut the top of my head super short because she thought it would look better. Ive had multiple other mediocre haircuts ranging from alright to the exact opposite of what I wanted. Price isnt bad and location is even better.

Its NOT a "southern" barber shop, like so many have described. I found two of the barbers one of the guys and a female to be rude. They were annoyed by the mere presence of us little people. The atmosphere and customers were the skinny jeans, hair flip, and urban crowd. Another barber had a questionable background, and the older fella, though nice, was a little too touchy... Ive never been touched so much by a barber in my life. Price was competitive, though.

My hair is very difficult to cut because it is very thick and curls in many different directions, so a lot of adjustments have to be made when it gets cut short. I was worried going to a new barbershop (I am new in the area), but they did a great job. Staff was friendly, place was clean for a barbershop. In response to other negative reviews this is a BARBER shop not a hair salon, so the floor isnt going to be squeaky clean.

Im originally from Atlanta, and I have been to many of the major barber shops there - also many salons or places where you can get your hair styled. I now only go to Staples here in Charlottesville because they cut my hair exactly how I want it and are also always engaging me in an interesting conversation and asking me how Ive been doing. These guys are the real deal.

I had my hair "cut" by Jason...cut practically completely off to be exact. He was half intoxicated rambling about soccer and dreams of sole-proprietorship of his own barbershop....and...whoops, took too much off. I would steer clear of this place or perhaps Jason. Second and last go around for Staples.

Great service. They have a pole outside the shop. My dad used to bring me here as a kid. Now I come here. Same price for a cut as hair cuttery but you get better service. No annoying loud music either.still the same atmosphere as when I was a kid. Just like the barber shop from Andy Griffith show.

Great old-fashioned barbershop, very southern. The owner still cuts hair. Haircuts cost round numbers, cash money only! - no credit cards, checks, or bitcoin accepted. In my experience they do a very good job and are very friendly and reasonably priced.

The absolute WORST haircut I have ever received. I am baffled by how bad the haircut was. The place was disgusting and now I have to go pay for another haircut at a place down the street to fix the atrocity that Staples calls a "haircut"

I tried this place twice, and each time ran into all sorts of challenges in trying to navigate the mysterious queue. Half the barbers look like theyre barely alive. There just have to be better options in Cville for a decent haircut.

The guy cut my EAR and instead of saying sorry he said, "The machine looks good to me". He didnt even offer me a tissue to stop the bleeding so I had to walk to CVS, the nearest pharmacy to it, to get some alcohol swabs!!!

Great, cheap place to get your hair cut. $15 for a standard cut with a straight razor shave in the back. Nice people, but can get busy at times. Overall a great place to get a haircut.

Terrible haircut. Had to touch up in mirror at home. During haircut, barber made racist remarks, described a sexual encounter in a Ford pickup, and advised me to not pay my taxes.

Matt was rude and does not like to cut kids hair if your looking for a childs hair cut do not go here. Also dont go in hour before closing unless you want to hear complaining.

Just went there for the first time. Great traditional barber shop. It was pretty busy, but everyone was friendly. Just walk in, grab a number, and wait for an opening.

Isnt bad. Like it and its also a bit oldschool as well. Only downside is I had to pay either with cash or by check afterwards but that wasnt as big of a deal.
