Went in for just a cut since all I wanted was a cheap trim. Figured since I have a really short cut it would be better to go to a barber shop since theyre used to boy cuts. Instead the instant I come in they hand me off to the only female...I assume ONLY because of my gender since none of the other men seemed busy. I told her just a cut, no color and to leave the sides long since Im trying to grow it out. I just wanted it thinned out on top and in back. Instead she kept pestering me to color so I figured what the hell and agreed to one of her suggestions. The cut was terrible. She BUZZCUT the sides as close as she could get them, barely touched the top and told me just to style it when I complained it was still too thick on top. The color looked orange and hideous on me and even when she styled it, it looked nothing like the picture Id brought in. Ended up paying $90 for a hair cut that gave me a panic attack once I got home. Never going back here.

(11/11) After reading other reviews, I just went to Barber House for the first time. Ive been going to another place for twenty years that gives me a #2 butch and Im out the door in ten minutes. Im about two weeks into a new beard, and its still kind of patchy, but needed trimming in some areas. At BH, it took a good half hour, but I got a meticulous beard trimming and the best haircut I can remember, all for twenty bucks (plus tip). Its an extra dozen miles or so, but Ill be going back regularly. Second experience today (12/10). The guy nearest the waiting area gave me a bad haircut and a beard trim that I woundnt wish on an enemy. He does not understand what a #3 butch means (I came out nearly bald; #3 means 3/8") and he totally mangled my beard. He has no sense of symmetry whatsoever. Stay away from this butcher.

My husbands review "Simply put the Barber House is the best barber shop in Albemarle County. Ken and his staff pay more attention to detail than any other barber that you will encounter. If you are looking at a cut above the rest, give them a try. You will not be disappointed. They offer excellent hours and all the barbers are very experienced. Unless Ken were to leave town I will not be looking for another barber shop" My review " They offer womens cuts as well, Billy is AMAZING!!! I always receive tons of compliments from his cuts. Listen to his suggestions they are very good. Definitely not your 15 minute cut but well worth the time. He is definitely a perfectionist and it shows in his skills. Ive been here a half dozen times with hit or miss results. Today, Peter cut my hair. The haircut was decent, although I had to reiterate multiple times on what I wanted. It was going mostly well until he shaved the back of my neck. The shaving cream was inside a messy little jar with a brush, which I can only assume was used on the last few cuts that he did. It was ice cold, and he didnt bother with a steamed towel. It felt as if he was dragging rusty nails across my neck, the blade must have been dull. I was also worried about the sanitation of the cream/brush. After this I just wanted to get out of there, so I paid the $13 and started on my way when Peter stopped me and said "No tip?" No Peter, no tip. All in all, this will be my last visit to the Barber House.

I found this place by accident, I was over the moon when I found out they specialize in military hair cuts. I sat and watch Kevin give this guy a high and tight with so much precision. The end result was stunning and on point!!! He was ready for inspection formation! He cut my sons hair, and there were no shadows or holes. The result was perfection. The prices are very reasonable in comparison to other places. To make it better, they even have a beauty shop section too. So while youre getting all cleaned up youre wife could get dolled up too. Definitely going back there again!

I had Jully today. My first and last time. There was no wait. They had six people working. I dont know about the rest, but Jully didnt understand English well. I couldnt get her to understand how to cut my hair. Then I had the hot shave for my face. The razor was dull. She kept stretching my face like pizza dough. It hurt like hell every time she slid the razor on my skin. She also shaved me extremely fast like there was a prize for the fastest shave. In the end, my face was cut up as if a mower had ran it over. I wouldnt suggest this place except to people I dont like.

Regrettably, one of my worst haircuts! Despite being clear what I wanted and explaining it twice, the barber did something completely different (a fade is not the same as a same length cut on the sides); my hair is way shorter than I wanted. I suspect a language barrier existed; however, the haircut is uneven, especially on top, and does not look good. Too bad Staples Barber Shop was closed; they provide a better haircut.

Got my 3 year old son a hair cut here. We just walked in. Our boy didnt cry once! He sat on my husbands lap during the cut. He didnt like the cape and started to itch and moving around after a while. Despite this, they did a great job. Fast. Love the cut! Would definitely come back. I ended up getting a haircut too. They also did great work on ladies hair. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend!

Great place to go, went there for a cut yesterday. One of the best that Ive had in a long time. The staff is very friendly and eagerly greets each and every customer. He actually took the time to straight razor my neck and around the edges which is something that I havent had in years. Plenty of people working so there was no wait. I highly recommend this place, thanks for the great cut.

Great place to get your hair cut. They are very courteous and there is rarely a wait. The price is solid about 12 dollars and cuts are top notch. I have been going there for several years and had a cut from everyone but the female who I think is somewhat new and I have yet to have a bad hair cut. There is a salon area in the back but that does not seem to be used much.

I have been going to see Ken for over 2 years now and refuse to go anywhere else. He is a perfectionist! Everytime I receive the perfect haircut. The other barbers at his shop are all excellent as well. If youre trying to find a new barber in town, go to the Barber House and ask for Ken. You wont be disappointed.

This place is awesome they do a terrific job and they dont talk your ear off, they provide a calm, quiet and excellent service. Its very inexpensive for a hair cut is only 12 dollars. They do alot of extra things no other barber does for the best price Ive seen. Yow would be making a mistake for not giving them a shot!
