*** Changed from a 5 star review *** I have been a client of Vangar for approximately 5 years or more. Since Amanda Garcias leaving the ambiance is lacking. I got a bit spoiled with her presence for a few months, not to mention her performing my hair services. My appointment in August 2015 was more expensive, with prior appointments being in the $120.00 range including brow tint. My charges in August were $155.00 excluding $23.00 tip. When I asked why so high, I was told because of brow service which I was not happy with since it faded in a few days. Next I went to my October 10th appointment, had to wait 30 minutes (as usual), told stylist no brow service (since it didnt last) and I was trying to reduce my bill. Much to my surprise that bill was even higher, and this was without brow service. DIM tones went from $50.00 to $75.00, color from $40.00 to $45.00. I was never informed of any increases. Good customer service wouldve been to bring it to my attention. I left very unhappy and tired of appointment being a 3 hr appointment (my hair is short), my bill was $165.00 excluding a $20.00 tip. Last week I sent an email on the Vangar site contact us form asking Amanda to call me @ my home @ her convenience, and included my phone #. To date, no reply, perhaps it was never forwarded to her. My opinion is that the hair service price increases are not reasonable. **** Previous Review **** Outstanding hair stylists with fantastic personalities.They use 5 star products and give 5 star service. Great team work as well.

I was a loyal customer for 5 years but after my last experience I will NEVER go back. I came in for a cut and style by a master stylist, and what I got was an AWFUL experience from Kylie. She shouldnt be allowed to touch anyones hair. Clearly Lisa had been double booked, which they should have been up front about when I was handed off to Kylie for my shampoo and blow dry. She basically just mashed my hair into my scalp for a couple minutes, which was borderline painful. The blow dry was even worse. I honestly think my toddler could have done a better job. She just stood their aimlessly blow drying my hair till it was a big frizzy mess. It was apparent she was trying to kill time till Lisa was free. By the time I made it to Lisa nearly an hour later I thought she would fix the situation but she didnt; she spent maybe 10 mins on my hair and then sent me on my way. When I told her how bad my experience was she acted annoyed, and could only seem to talk about how she quit smoking that week. She did knock the price down 20% from $45 to $36 for my inconvenience but that didnt seem reasonable at all because I shouldnt have been charged for a master stylist cut and style in the first place. I certainly didnt receive one. My hair looked worse when I left then when I came in. It was an absolute waste of my time and money and by far the worst experience Ive had at a salon ever.

Highly recommend this place even if its just a simple haircut. Ammonia free products, not a single burning feeling when I got my hair dyed. The employees are very courteous, down to earth and sociable. Very professional and knowledgeable about their products and the science behind hair and scalps. The haircut was like watching an artist work a masterpiece. Christian was my artist. I do recommend having a cellphone charger and have at least 1 hour or a bit more set aside if you are doing a permanent hair dye. It takes 40mins to set in correctly but its well worth it.

Ive been going to VanGar for years and I just love it! Amanda is an amazing stylist and is a careful mentor to the junior stylists in the salon, some of which arent up for the challenge but thats life. One of my favorite things about the salon is they know the chemistry of hair and the products they use. As a chemist myself Im used to stylists spouting nonsense from product reps but you wont find that at VanGar and my hair is the strongest and healthiest its ever been as a result. VanGar rocks!! Excellent salon!!! I was staying at the hotel adjacent to this salon and walked in without an appointment. I was greeted by a lovely girl name Kelly who was more than eager to help. I only had to wait five minutes even though I didnt have an appointment. Kelly gave me an awesome hair cut complete with a shampoo and hot towel. Next time I am in town I will definitely be visiting again! Prices were definitely reasonable, people were fantastic and hair cut was wonderful. Highly recommend!!!!!

Wonderful Salon! I had a great experience at this salon. I felt pampered the whole time I didnt want to leave! I was looking for a new place for my highlights and cut, and I am so glad I found VanGar. They did a great job on my cut and color. Their prices are VERY reasonalble. All of the employees are so nice, and the atmosphere is beautiful. Definately a place to recommend to my friends!

Poor customer service. Poor communication between stylists regarding scheduling appts and no ownership of when they make a mistake. No willingness to work with the customer when a mistake is made on their part either tending to blame the client. Am so disappointed. The positive reviews by other reviewers really made me want to try them out. Back to the Aveda salon for me.

OK, Ill admit I was a little skeptical about going to the same place where my wife get her hair done. What a surprise. Brendon is the professional that my wife claimed him to be. Hes knowledgable, friendly, and provides expert advise on what would look good. The dude knows how to cut and style guys hair for sure. Ill be a returning customer without a doubt.

Im new to the area and have been trying out different places to get a simple haircut. VanGar was fairly priced and cut my hair exactly the way that I wanted. I didnt even have to give a detailed description. The entire staff was very nice and it was very easy to set an appointment. I definitely recommend VanGar for others!!!

After several cuts and styles over a period of months, I am - and have been during that period - very unsatisfied with VanGar. The cuts and styles I got were all wrong for my hair. I persevered because I hoped some familiarity with my hair would allow the stylist to find the right cut. It did not happen.

Originally started going here a year or so ago and picked it out of a list of Davines locations. Have always loved my experience. Staff is always friendly and fun to chat with, and have loved my cut, color, and style every time I leave. More reasonably priced than my previous Seattle salon.

Amazing place. Its a small, hole in the wall type of place. Very clean and cozy. The staff are super friendly and Rebbecca is very knowledgeable on different hair types. She was able to anticipate my needs and executed exactly what I requested. My hair looks amazing!!!

I was greeted the moment I walked in the door by the stylist and the owner. The stylist was actually interested in what I wanted done to my hair and took the time to get to know me. This was one of the best haircuts Ive had. I highly recommend this salon!!
