My best friend recommended Twist Salon, in particular Ashely, to me as Ive had a hard time finding a good stylist for a while. I really like her hair and finally decided to try it. I called and made my appointment with Ashley for 10:30. I currently reside in Norfolk and knew it was going to take me at least 45 mintues to get there. On the day of the appointment, I left my house ( I thought in plenty of time), but once I realized I was going to be a few minutes late, I thought the polite and respectful thing thing to do was call the salon and let them know. I called at 10:15, and no one answered. I called back around at 10:25 and let the receptionist know I was going to be 10 minutes late. She said she would let Ashely know. I finally made it to the salon at 10:40 (exactly 10 minutes late). When I got to the receptionists desk, I let her knew who I was and apologized for being late. At that point, the receptionist informed me because I was late, Ashley already had a client that was done under the dryer and I would have to reschedule my appointment for later in the day. I was shocked because I do understand I was late, but I dont understand what Ashley would have done with me in 10 minutes if I showed up on time. I told the receptionist that I did apologize for being late, but didnt realize 10 mintues was going to make this big of a difference. The receptionist explained to me that they schedule clients right on top of each other. I understand the need for this, but if the stylist cant handle someone being late, they either need to schedule the clients a little more apart from each other or inform the clients the importance of being on time when they schedule the appointment. I declined to accept a later appointment because I already had plans for the rest of the day and am extremely busy with work and school. Needless to say, I walked out of the salon extremely dissapointed and upset. What makes me even more upset is that they should have informed me that I would have to reschedule when I called to tell them that I was going to be late. I am very dissappointed because I was looking forward to finally finding a good stylist, but have failed once again. If someone doesnt want my business because I am 10 minutes late, I certainly do not want to give it away, nor am I going to beg someone to do my hair. I understand the respect for being on time (as I am a server and when reservations are late, I do not have the luxury to say that because they arent on time I had to give up that table to make more money). I just cant believe this was the service I received from a salon that was so highly recommended from a good friend. People tried to tell me to call and complain, but I dont see what that would have accomplisheld -- as I would not like to hear any excuses. The reason for this long review is to serve as a warning to all new customers -- if you are going to be 5-10 minutes late for your appointment, especially with Ashley, make sure you call and reschedule as this is unacceptable for that salon.

I left this salon a 2 star review 9 months ago on yelp. I did not use any names, just pointed out the fact that they definitely run on the expensive side even for all over base color and thats why I was displeased as I felt the services rendered did not meet or even qualify the amount I paid. I even pointed out the place was very nice and clean and have friendly staff. I was wrong. Today I received a very very nasty message from one of the friends of a stylist here pointing out that because of my review I am "a waste of a human being" and I am a "c**t" and several "f*** you". This is beyond unprofessional. Having not spoken to either the stylist or said message sender for quite some time, I was quite taken by surprise as I was never anything but nice to the stylist and even tipped her well. The only reason I didnt return was because I couldnt afford $160 to get my hair dyed (not including tip!). It may be ok for some but I have a budget and that does not fit it. I contacted the owner of the salon and was met with only silence. They may be decent at hair, and overpriced, but certainly not professional.

I went to that salon to better my experience and ihad a jell put on my hair to make the color look better but i had a problem with my cut. I had a victoria becham cut very angular, stacked in the back and came out with a mommy bob. I was exhausted and didnt realize that that is what she had done because she didnt flat iron it so i could see the angle. I showed her a picture of it correctly cut. My problem isnt with her but the owner who refused to make a plan to fix it. I called at 315 and he was busy and all i wanted was some to acknnowledge the error, I called back at 530 pm and he still was busy and called at 830 and left a message. I woke up the next morning and he left a voicemail stating he would call the authorities if i came into the salon and his lawyer. I paid 70 in cash and was asked at the wrap up desk if i wanted to include a 20% gratuity..How rude!!!!! and yes i did tip her well, but didnt realize until i got ready for work an hour later that my hair was cut incorrectly.... Over priced and horrible customer service... All i was asking for was what i overpaid for

I had a horrible experience at another salon, the "stylist" put blonde highlights in my hair, and they turned out GRAY! OMG. My hair was so damaged!! I went to Angela and she totally fixed my hair and knows what she is talking about. I can sit down and completely trust her with my hair. And thats what it is all about really. She can cut beautifully and color just as well. I am a brunette and she manages to make my hair blonde without looking fake or overdone. Its just PERFECT! They may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for!!! Let someone do your hair right! I will never go to anyone else to do my hair, and have been going to her for over 4 years. She is just great!

LOVE ANGELA......BEST HAIR CUT EVER!!!! She totally understands thick, curly unruly hair. I LOVE my hair cut. She is wonderful. I like to wear my hair straight since the curly is uneven. With this cut, I was able to do it myself, without a chemical treatment. I can now straighten my hair in no time!! I am so happy!! So happy that I actually made another an appointment for 8 weeks. I never pay that much attention to my hair. I will now that I have someone who can truly cut my hair!! Went back today for my second cut.......just as happy as before. I love Angela!! She knows what she is doing with scissors!!
