Worst customer service I have ever had. However there is the lady at the front desk (Tiare -spelling?). She is a true professional and is a shining employee. Being rude to the people that has consistently done business with you for quite some time is bad business. My girlfriend and I over the past 3 years have spent no less than a thousand dollars ($1294) going to various sub-par events and having our child in their 3 hour long summer camp Mon-fri this summer. I asked to speak to a higher up about a late fee they issued today to my girlfriend and the rude and dismissive attitude that her employee had while issuing it. Not even to mention the lack of notification of any such policy (I read the contract for the summer camp twice). Gina, the lady who is a higher up that talked to me tried to charge us for a week of camp that our child never attended after our unproductive conversation in the lobby. Ginas attitude was rude. So I told her I was not paying it. She then threatened to take us to collections (over a $9 fee). I laughed and handed her the slip of paper and told her I wasnt paying it. We have been going there three years and never once had this fine, nor would I pay after two encounters with their level of unprofessional management. My girlfriend and I talked and decided that we would just pay the 9 dollars and sever our connection with the FWCC. So we went back in later that afternoon. We got the same helpful person at the desk and got it paid. She then informed us that: "Gina says you owe us for a week of summer camp that you were never charged for". We laugh and inform Tiare that our child was not in camp that week and that we needed to talk Gina (who was out of the office). We were in Ocean Shores that week and planned our trip because our kiddo would not be there that week. Plenty of photos and stories from that trip. Tiare wrote Gina an email (because Gina didnt answer her phone) trying to resolve this issue. Instead of Gina double checking her facts (checking attendance logs, or asking employees if her accusation was valid) she called everyone on our childs contact sheet. This has caused strife in our household and is just plain silly. Gina. You are the sole reason we will never spend another minute or dollar at the establishment. Tiare (again, Im sorry if you are reading this and I spelled your name wrong) was exceptional. She was friendly, helpful and efficient. My Girlfriend and I was in the process of registering our child for summer camp about 2 and a half months ago when I remember her coming in for her first day. I spoke to her the first time I came in to resolve this and she was nothing but friendly and polite. The second time I came in that day (a few hours later) she even greeted me while I was coming in the door with a smile and a wave (she even remembered my name). She kept the whole situation from blowing up. She has customer service skills that exceed expectation. Regardless of the issue at hand she even asked us how our trip was to Ocean Shores. There isnt enough I could say to convey properly how much I appreciate her and her helpful attitude. Guess who is no longer getting our business? You guessed it! The Federal Way Community Center. Gina, you need retraining. You lost a long time customer.

This place has great amenities but some terrible employees. I have certainly spent over a 1000 dollars sending my daughter to programs here. The day before the last of my daughters summer camp, this employee (not my daughters teacher, but one for the older children) fines me for being late by 9 minutes, she just tells me I have to pay before she can return for her last day and turns around and walks off, no explanation or conversation. Completely rude. Since I had no idea there was late fines and it was not even stated in the papers I signed for Fireflies summer camp, my boyfriend went to confront the woman in charge about this fine we didnt know existed and the employees rude conduct. Instead of discussing any of it, she just said if we did not want to pay it and discontinue here with our daughter, she was sending it to collections. So we came back to pay this 9 bucks to wash our hands clean of the whole situation and then she writes us up ANOTHER 85 dollars for a week we did not sign up for and were gone on a camping trip during!! Just unbelievable! My daughter has been to daycare before and fines NEED to be stated in the signed paperwork. The front desk lady was amazing though and so were her teachers <3 A few bad apples ruins anything regarding my child though. Wow!!! I just found out this woman then called my mother whos at work until midnight because shes on our account together and threatens to send it to collections on her account if not paid by tonight when we do NOT owe the 85 and already paid the 9.

Wonderful community center, lots of programs, love The preschool portion...Ms. Katie is a wonderful teacher. However the front deck is always rude! I had read reviews prior to trying this community center about it and I wish they would get the hint or make a change but I guess if you avoid them as much as possible the rest of the community center itself is great! Added: Also I tried a private swim lesson out for my Son and he didnt vibe well the the male instructor PLUS horrible atmosphere for a " private" lesson. I couldnt get my son to want to go back. I called about 3 weeks later to get him into fall swim lessons, maybe with a women or in a group class and she basically told me if my son was scared with a male he would be scared with anyone and to just leave him and let the instructor deal with him - no credit or refund! Okay she may be right but as parents we have to keep trying things for our kids to succeed hes only 3! All in all wished for better costumer service especially when you are paying these people good money!

This is a state of the art workout center. They had machines that I had never even seen anywhere else. One that caught my attention was something called Jacobs Ladder. Its really unique ladder climbing device, but I was told that unless you are in peak condition, its too much. I left that one alone, since I am not in that category! There are a number of pools -- one for swimming laps, a leisure pool, a stream loop, and more that I must explore. It has a rock climbing pinnacle, all kinds of ball sport courts, a walking course, and classes. Id like to try yoga, but the only thing offered is chair yoga, which I think might be too light for my tastes. Perhaps down the road there will be a more traditional yoga class offering that I can try, though. Overall, I feel grateful to live in a suburban city where there is such a magnificent community facility!

The pool is nice and big, but I dont understand the "parent and tot swim." I brought my one and a half year old to swim, and was told we had to stay in the kiddy area of the leisure pool, which is like one foot of water, because there was a class going on in the rest of the pool. That would have been okay, but the play equipment in the kiddy pool wasnt even turned on. So we pretty much had to just sit there in one foot of water. It was lame, and if they are going to put parent and tot swim on the schedule they should make sure we can actually swim. Otherwise I enjoy the facilities, the climbing wall is fun, and I love the indoor track.
