This place is about QUALITY. If anyone is looking for cut-rate value, go somewhere else. If you want a great experience and youre willing to pay a little more, give this one a shot or two. I called in to schedule a appointment, and they got me in same day. Then, I unfortunately had to cancel it 15 minutes before I was supposed to be there, but they didnt give me any grief over it; in fact, they were very kind and understanding, so I rescheduled for the next day. When I came in, I was warmly greeted, both by the front desk and the young woman scheduled to do my massage. They immediately took me in and set the mood. Brandi did everything right - she made me feel comfortable and relaxed, and her strong hands worked wonders on my extremely tense muscles. Next I had Ed for a wax, and he also lived up to the quality standards of this salon. His friendliness and expertise made this experience most pleasant. My praise to the staff I had the pleasure of interacting with!

I was recommended to James Alan Salon by a close friend. I have been a Gene Juarez client for the past 8 years, but thought I would try them because they are close to home. I was accomodated with an appointment within a resonable time frame. However, When I arrived I felt like I was receiving funny looks. Come to find out, they have a "no child under the age of 9 to be in their salon policy" My child is not an animal! I have never experienced anything close to this in my life! I trully felt discriminated against and will be taking my business/money elsewhere. If I would have been informed of this policy when I called to make the appointment I would of understood and I would have not made the appointment. I understand policys are put in place for a reason and everyone has a choice to accept it or not. But you should be informed ahead of time. Thanks for waisting my time! You might want to post a sign that reads "NO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 9 ALLOWED"!

I just went here for the first time. It had been way too long since I had a haircut, since I moved to Seattle last summer and never got around to finding a new salon. But now that Im getting married in August I decided I needed to start caring about my hair again, so I booked an appointment at James Alan. Amber was my stylist and she did a fantastic job. I loved that she seemed to understand my hair (wavy, fine hair, but lots of it) and didnt try and force it to be something it wasnt. She was seriously the first stylist Ive ever had who didnt blow dry and straighten my hair after the cut, which I was thrilled about, since it takes about 45 minutes to dry and straighten my hair (no, seriously) and it never looks that good anyway. The price was very reasonable too. Plus, they have a non-profit that helps girls get out of the sex trafficking industry. How many salons do you know that have their own charity? Very, very cool. I will definitely be back.

I have been going here for a year. This place is AMAZING. The ambiance and decor scream upscale salon, without the snobbish attitude. I have worked with 2 stylists and had excellent hair cuts every time. They both listened to what I wanted and asked good questions. They both talked a lot about the ongoing education the salon offers and the mentorship they receive from more experienced staff. The prices are reasonable and they arent always trying to get you to buy more products. Oh ya they will let you return a product if it doesnt work for you.They offer massage, facials and cosmetic instruction. They are open late so you can go after work.

I had the most enjoyable waxing experience I have ever had... yes ladies, the BEST! The staff was AMAZING, the place was clean and the results exceeded my expectations! The wax that they use is awesome, there is NO paper involved, just wax, so you dont have all of the red tissue damage that you find in traditional waxing. On top of that, it lasted twice as long as a normal waxing. The lady that worked on me was respectful, professional and truly entertaining. I will continue to go here and recommend everyone to do the same!

From the time I book my appointment to when I pay I am treated to the "top of the line" service. They are accommodating, thoughtful, and skilled at their craft. Beyond that they care about the community they live and work in and they practice that principal. My family has been cared for by the staff at James Allen, above and beyond what anyone could ask. I love them ALL and recommend them whenever asked. Thank you for what you have done and continue to do-you make your customers feel special (and beautiful!).

Hello I am Jessica and I would like to get my daughters ears pierced and I want a safe place for her. Ive heard that this salon also does ear piercings... Ive also heard good things about the hairstyles themselves. So I am wondering if this is an okay place. Has anyone gotten their ears pierced here? DO they use a needle or a gun? please answer. I woud like to get my daughters ears pierced around christmas as her gift :) Thank you

Kasey Brien at James Alan is awesome! It took me two years and multple visits to a handful of other salons, but I am happy to say that I have FINALLY found my stylist! My cut is always consistent and even (no more hack jobs for me!) and the color flawless. I couldnt be more thrilled--I just wish I would have found her sooner!

Ross has been doing my hair for 3 years now and I would never go anywhere else. The staff is so sweet and the new salon is so so nice! In my opinion it is not overpriced for being the upscale salon it is and how nice the service is. Ill spend the extra money to have an excellent hair cut, color, brows done, etc.
