At one time there were 3 gyms on this intersection. Crossfit on the N.W. corner, Fitness Works on the N. E. corner, and Fitness Evolution on the S.E. Corner. Fitness Evolution is the 4th gym in this location. They have all failed. And Fitness Works was failing since Fitness Evolution came in. There were lawsuits, trainers stealing clients, all the drama. Full turnover of staff multiple times in both locations. Now they have merged under a buyer who bought both Fitness Evolution Arizona locations and all 4 or 5 Fitness Works locations. They kept the Fitness Works name. Fitness Evolution was just OK until the merge. Now that they have merged, they seem to have taken everything wrong with both gyms and put them all into one, discarding what was being done right. They had an excellent cleaning crew, full-time, and it seems they are gone now - so its a mess. They used to keep the place organized, dumbbells in order, plates organized, etc., but not any more, UNLESS someone loudly complains. Today, after I was harassed about having my gym bag with me (with my wallet, phone, towel, wrist wraps, etc., in it that I need) I voiced my complaint to the manager about the dumbbell rack being totally disorganized constantly the trash cans overflowing again, and the general mess that the place is now. He said, "Im just walking out the door, so I dont have time for this." Imagine! Then I wasted my time talking to two of the salesmen, or trainers, who let me know that they "did the dumbbell rack the other day" and argued with me that I was wrong about my concerns. I added, "Im annoyed because I was approached in the middle of a set and told to remove my gym bag immediately." I said they should do that after the person is done. They only argued that I didnt understand. They instituted a "no gym bags" rule with signage saying "due to theft" but the trainers, who are more concerned with socializing among themselves and keeping their hair perfect, said "its because there would be 500 gym bags all over making a mess." It is ALREADY a mess. And for the past several years there, with no gym bag rule, there were never "bag all over the place". Its just another rule that makes no sense when it comes to providing a good member experience. I see this gym going the way all the others at this location went. Only CONVENIENCE of location for members keeps most going IMO. And thats not enough when there are a half dozen good gyms within 5 minutes of here. And beware, while Fitness Evolution has about 3 or 4 trainers, which was all they needed, NOW they have A TON. And that means a lot of sales pressure on members. Especially when the new financial number come in and they see how much they are losing. Prices will be going up, services down, sales pressures increased. Typical failing gym behavior. Already happening. Forget it.

I gave it two stars solely based on the fact that it serves its purpose. Its a gym, it serves its purpose. I went in to this location instead of the Higley Rd because I already was dissatisfied with their customer service and wanted to keep an open mind. I sat down with Cody, he was pleasant.. but I think he too is growing weary of the business practices. 1) Theres a $39.99 up front fee plus first and last months dues of $9.99 Thats $59.97, well call it $59.99, okay cool. Then we have the $39.99 annual fee that comes out first quarter. Spread over 12mos... thats $18.33 a month for your membership. Thats a dollar and some change less than their premium membership. Or you can pay $40.98 to sign up and your rate at $20, with the annual fee. Average those out on your own. Anyway, I digress. what I do not like is, they are able to change your monthly rates without consulting the customer. There was no real explanation on why that was. Basically anything that was shady, and I questioned it was the "old management company, etc" - okay. So because he still wasnt selling me on this idea I asked him to beat Eos prices. He scribbled some things out on the paper, and congratulations I am a new member... but dont have toner to print the contract - okay well... Im not signing, or giving my bank info until I have a copy. The rest is stupid, he ended up texting me that the computer wouldnt let him enter the rates I wanted, and hes sorry. Thats fine. So I went back to Eos, joined online for $1. Didnt have to talk to anyone. My annual fee comes out the first month Im billed, $39.99 + $9.95. Clear cut, and to the point. No bullshit, their contract is online and transparent. Second issue is... The gym is dirty, not the gym itself... I mean its a gym. But the bathroom is gross. Do yourself a favor and dont waste your time.

Fitness Works may have a decent gym, however there management and company policys as a whole aim to cheat their members out of as much money as possible. I have had the worst experience with this company. There sales people lied to me straight to my face promising me that I was enrolling into a month by month membership. As I attempted to review the paperwork before I signed it their pushy sales manager rushed me to sign as my new trainer stood by the side waiting for me and apparently my clock for the session already started ticking away. 3 weeks after I joined this gym specifically because this trainer was at this gym and helping other members of my family loose weight, they fired him! Just trust me I know the whole story and they were not justified at all! At this point decided to quit going to this gym except low and behold Im stuck in a 1 year contract that as hard as I tried to fight they just kept charging my credit card. It has been over a year now since I first signed up and they have refused to cancel my membership until I personally went down tho their location and filed more bs paperwork giving them a months notice and allowing them to charge me further for unknown fees. Plain and simple these guys are crooks and while what they do is technically illegal you are forced to swallow it and keep paying. So I put a warning out to all of you to not trust these guys at all no matter what they say and also strongly suggest you try a different gym altogether. Not worth the hassle or stress!

Miserable experience on Saturday. I have been a member for over 10 years. I was told to leave because my account was behind. No phone calls nothing. I had presented my credit card to them after a change was made to it by the bank. Had they have taken the information then, and correctly entered it into there computer. This incident would not have happened. I ask the receptionist to review my history and she was adamant that I was behind in payments. I had traveled over ten miles one way to the club to work out. I could have paid her after I returned to my home and called her with the necessary information that created the glitch. Instead she was rude and calloused only concerned about a payment. The errors were Fitness Works employees. I contacted Carolyn at this facility on advice of another facility with Fitness Works. She was on the same order Rude, Calloused, over bearing, inconsiderate, definitely not people friendly. I say good luck to the new owners of Fitness Works with management employees like this gem.
