I found this place on accident while working today. I walked in hesitant as it appeared to be an american owned Pho establishment. I want to say theres nothing wrong with an american owned Vietnamese restaurant. But being half Vietnamese, this was a first for me. So, while walking hesitantly into the restaurant from the parking lot, I could smell the Pho (which smelled great) and that immediately sealed the deal and made me proceed. I ordered the Classic Pho dish. It was excellent. Better than most Vietnamese restaurants in the valley. Although Pho Kings dish didnt quite capture all of the classic flavors of a traditional Vietnamese Pho dish ( Meatballs were soft and tender but lacked asian meatball flavor and texture ), everything else was on point from the tripe, perfectly thin cut beef, the offerings of bean sprouts , jalapeno, lime and herbs at the bar. And I welcomed the restaurant for trying something new. The broth, I give a 9/10. I could taste the spices of the broth ( anise, cinnamon, etc) looooong after I finished my bowl. As someone whos traveled Vietnam north and south and whom has lived in Los Angeles, California, I have had my fair share of authentic Pho. I can honestly say, you wont be disappointed. And remember, I am half Vietnamese and grew up eating this dish. Plus, it wasnt so bad, UFC fighter Ryan Bader was here today. I got the chance to hurry him as he was picking his condiments at the station while waiting to get my own-not knowing who he was until I got home and googled him. I thought he looked familiar. Nice guy. Great restaurant. My only gripe: More noodles please!! And bigger spoons. It took me awhile to drink the broth with a teaspoon. A larger tablespoon is needed. But Big props to an American owned establishment producing authentic Vietnamese flavors. My experience today was enough to cure my "Pho craving." In the words of Arnold, "Ill be back."

Food was delicious. The meat used in the "traditional" and "American" pho seemed to be of very good quality compared to most Vietnamese restaurants. The coconut curry pho was phenomenal. Flavors were amazing, Id go back just for this dish. HOWEVER, at $30 and some change for 2 bowls of pho, and one order of spring rolls, my wallet may not allow me to return for what is supposed to be a "poor mans comfort food". Pho is very cost-friendly to make, as you may find if making a large pot at home. Most traditional Vietnamese restaurants charge ~$6 a bowl for a very hearty (almost too large) serving. Whereas Pho King charges $10-12 a bowl for a serving half the size of what youll find elsewhere. Yes the meat was delicious, but the servings are tiny for that price. Also, my noodles were a tad undercooked in the curry pho, but still tasty nonetheless. Overall, very good food but way too expensive for what is supposed to be a cheap, comforting classic. I would stick to the mom & pop shops that charge $5 a bowl that is big enough for two.

I got whatever nasty virus that is going around the Valley and really needed some medicinal-grade pho to help me survive the disease. Ordered the Medicine Man pho for delivery and Im pretty sure its the sole reason I survived the weekend. Veggies were super fresh and plentiful, chicken was perfectly tender, and the broth was superb and super hot despite me being 30+ blocks away and the UberEats delivery driver getting lost en route. Since my sinuses were thick like a brick, I asked for extra spice and they delivered. Extra jalapeños, and an extra side of hot sauce, no charge. Enough spice to get me breathing again. Just like their truck, theyll toss in an extra dumpling for a buck, and its worth every penny. Sincerest thanks to Pho King for the edible salvation.

I just recently ate here and the menu is limited but works well. Being vegan I hoped they had some pho I could eat however all the pho is meat based. Instead I ordered the big pho king noodle bowl and was impressed. The sauce they give you for it is delicious yet slightly not enough for the serving size. My only real issue was the way the bowl came. It was visually appealing but difficult to work with. The noodles stuck tightly together or to the bottom of the bowl making it difficult to incorporate all the flavors. I ended up having to eat most of the meal independent of the other ingredients because of this. On the bites I could incorporate all the ingredients though it was super yummy. I will definitely be back for more pho king noodle bowls!

The biggest shining star I can give this little jewel of a eatery is that they bent over backwards for my nut allergy. When I told the lady out front that I have a severe allergy to tree nuts, She took the time to go back in the kitchen and tell the cooks. She reassured me that they would create the bahn mi burrito and would clean all their gear. That truly meant a lot to me. About half way through a cold glass of beer and a burrito that was derived from Gods own garden, came the owner asking how the food was. The pickled veggies went really well with the pork and it was complimentary. If youre ever looking for a burrito thatll knock your socks off, this is the place. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys food.

The service can occasionally be a little lacking, especially when ordering over the phone, but since you get your own drinks and only wait for your meal to be delivered, its a minor setback. Overall, the Pho is fantastic, pretty unique(a lot of ginger in the broth of the medicine man makes it delicious), and although its $11 for a large, youll be staggered by the size of bowl they give you for the price. Ive tried a lot of the Pho around Tempe, and this is one of my regular places. Its not super traditional, as the medicine man is the only really traditional pho they have, but for many this is likely part of the appear. The music selection is very hip, and the atmosphere is urban but still inviting.

I experienced their food truck and liked their take on various asian dishes before going to the restaurant with my girlfriend for the first time. I liked it even better than the food truck but my girlfriend freaked out since it wasnt the traditional Pho recipe she was expecting. This must be a regular situation here that could be easily fixed with lots of photos of the food and perhaps a looping video explaining the innovations being offered. Apparently, the loud decor didnt get the message across that this isnt a traditional asian restaurant. Perhaps the staff taking the orders should be trained to recognize a newbie and explain better.

I dont know what the owners think Pho is but this is not it. I should have known that their pho would be disappointing when they referred to their meat as protein that you have to order separately. I wanted to order a bowl of Pho not a smoothie. There is nothing authentic about this establishment. It should be called hipster pho instead of pho king. There was no option for tripe or meatballs. I take my pho very seriously as it has been my favorite dish for close to 15 years and I left very disappointed. That being said the soup they served is edible its just not pho. Thats the only reason I did not give it a one star.
