Called them for two jobs at my rental, the service started great. I had a knocking pipe in a Master Bath and a small toilet seal leak in a second bath. They take calls promptly, showed up on time, the first red flag was the $49.00 “trip fee”. As a landlord with several properties I’m always leery of this practice, but I was pressed for time so went forward, they assure you it will be applied to the repairs anyway so no harm right? The guy shows at the house, for the knocking in the wall at the Master shower he’s talking about opening the wall up so I tell him hold off because this is a repair I not only can do myself, but know that 99% of the time it’s a simple cartridge change in the handle, so I ask about the toilet tank seal. He first quotes me a new toilet for $780 (Say what?) and then says he can change the seals on the tank for “only” $360. I told him to leave and enjoy the $49.00 he just scammed me out of, probably cursed him out as well. I think of the customers that don’t know home repair like I do that say “OK” and spend $360 on a kit that costs $30 at Home Depot and takes about 15 minutes to do. I used to do all this myself but with a full time job, 5 properties, kids and so on I often send plumbers and other specialists as needed because I just don’t have the time, but this was an over inflated price of the first order. Another plumber that charges no “trip fee” went there the following week, changed the cartridge in the master bath, secured the pipe through the hole while he had the cartridge out and put new seals in the toilet. He was there about 20 or 30 minutes and it was under $200 including parts for both jobs. My tenant raved about him. Barker and Sons do a good job at creating the illusion of good service, they text when they arrive, the guys they send look clean and seem smart, but then they use that trust they have built and your lack of plumbing knowledge to charge you triple or in the case of my toilet seal about 5 times what the job would cost anywhere else, and if you don’t know plumbing, or dont have basic knowledge of what a job should cost, or just cant tell the guy to his face "leave" you are sunk. If you do know better they got a quick $49.00. For what it’s worth I spoke with Mark Barker and he did refund the deposit, but what a hassle. If 50% of their customers say “yes” to their drastically over-priced rates they are still making double what another plumbing service makes. Don’t be a sucker. If someone says “trip fee”, hang up and call another guy and always get 2 estimates.

JOSEPH CAME TO MY RESIDENCE IN ANAHEIM HILLS TO EVALUATE THE WORK TO BE DONE, NAMELY, REPLACEMENT OF GARBAGE DISPOSAL UNIT AND REPLACEMENT OF 50-GALLON WATER HEATER TAN. HE THEN SCHEDULED THE WORK TO BE DONE ON THURSDAY FEB. 26, 2015. AS PROMISED BY JOSEPH TWO TECHNICIANS, SARA AND RANDY REPORTED ON TIME THURSDAY MORNING. LATER ON JOSEPH CAME TO JOIN THEM. ALL THREE WERE FRIENDLY, NEATLY DRESSED, PROFESSIONAL AND EASY TO TALK TO AND WORK WITH. SARA TOOK CARE OF THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL WHILE RANDY DID THE HOT WATER TANDK. BOTH WERE ABLY SUPERVISED AND ASSISTED BY JOSEPH. THEY PERFORMED ADMIRABLY AND COMPLETED THE WORK IN ABOUT 2-3 HOURS. THEY ENSURED THAT THE WHOLE AREA WAS KEPT CLEAN. THEY PROVIDED PROPER AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL AS WELL AS THE HOT WATER TANK. THEY WERE VERY EFFICIENT, DUTIFUL, DEVOTED/DEDICATE TO THEIR WORK. SOON AFTER THEY LEFT I RELIAZED THAT A SMALL SECTION OF THE GARBAGE WAS LEAKING, SO I CALLED THE OFFICE. WOW, IN LESS THAN 1 HOUR RANDY RETURNED TO MY RESIDENCE. HE TOOK THE WHOLE UNIT APRAT AND REPLACED IT PROPERLY. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN WORKING VERY WELL SINCE. THE HOT WATER TANK IS FUNCTIONING VEY WELL. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME OF USING BARKER AND SONS PLUMBING COMPANY. I GIVE THAN AN [A]/EXCELLENT RATING FOR THEIR WORK. WHENEVER I CALL INTO THE OFFICE, BE IT THE MALE OR FEMALE RECEPTIONIST THEY WERE ALWAYS VERY FRIENDLY, POLITE AND VERY HELPFUL. I found my experience with Barker and Sons Plumbing and Rooter pleasant and professional. The entire work from the arriving time until the drain, clogged with dirt and Palm tree roots, was unclogged took about two hours. Barker and Sons Plumbing was the third and last plumber working on my yard drain issue. Ms. Missy was very pleasant, cordial, and understanding when she took my call and worked with me to make a reasonable appointment date and time which would accommodate my schedule as well. The companys plumber Alex showed up on time and he clearly explained the steps he would need to take to unclog my backyards drain and what it would cost. Alex with approval of his manager offered me a $50 discount coupon to reduce my cost for being the first time customer. Alex had the proper equipment and the experience to hydro jet the entire drain line covering the backyard and the two sides of my house. My neighbor whom was experiencing similar issue with her houses drain line was so impressed with Alexs experience and the good and clean quality of work that she immediately called his office to schedule him to return to clear her houses drain line as well. I was also impressed by the fact that I received a follow up phone call from Missy to make sure I was happy with the plumbing work done. This pleasant and satisfactory experience has made Barker and Sons Plumbing and Rooter the first choice plumber in my Contact phone book for my future plumbing work.

I had a small leak in a copper pipe under my 1940, raised-foundation house. I promptly called Barker and Sons based on the positive Yelp reviews. They did not disappoint! Working with Missy (customer service) and Bill (technician)was a walk in the park. The customer service and on-site service were seamless. Called Friday night, received a prompt call-back from Missy to schedule an appointment for Saturday between 11 and 1. Got a call at 8am asking if it was ok for the tech to arrive early (2.5 hrs. early!) Absolutely! Bill rolled-up (the guys a stud) assessed the situation and promptly got to work. He had it dialed-in within about an hour. Using their Tablet- based service-order and invoicing software, Bill charged my card, bid me farewell and was off to rescue the next hapless homeowner. Before Bill even pulled out of the driveway, Missy was on the phone with a follow-up call to make sure everything went well. I received my invoice via email within moments of the call. This is a seamless operation and the customer service goes a long way to making it so. Plumbing issues are never fun, but these folks will make it as painless as it can possibly be. And...they sent me a thank-you card for my business! Check em out!

Barker and Sons Plumbing just replaced our cracked ceramic root filled sewer line and did an excellent job. They used their new sewer lining technology and did not have to dig up our yard which also saved our sprinkler system and it took them only one day to reline our sewer pipe. They also had to cut and remove a small section of concrete. They did a near perfect job matching the concrete. Trust this is something nobody really wants to do, but by the same token there is nothing grosser than having all the drain lines in your house backed up with sewage. Frank, Johnny and Missy made the whole experience very pleasant. They were all very professional and friendly. I say this because we actually had two other companies out and did not feel comfortable with either one. Frank took the time to explain everything in detail and did a sewer camera video where I could see for myself what the issues were. After the job was complete, Missy called and asked if everything was done to our satisfaction and thanked us for using Barker and Sons. All the work was done at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend and will be referring all my family and friends.
