Worst customer service EVER seen in the fitness industry. I have been a gym member at one place or another for over 20 years, from LA to San Diego to The central coast... have belonged to Pismo Athletic Club, Curves, Parks and Rec aerobics classes, Jazzercise... you name it.. and have loved them ALL. A good friend belongs to AG- Fit19 for more than a year now and suggested that I join up too so we can workout together... we went over there on Sunday to use a guest pass she had for me. She normally has a Monday, Wed, Fri ONLY deal but we wanted to go today because our work schedules conflict next week ... we got dressed, drove over there... asked if she could switch a day out JUST this ONE TIME so I could try it with her as I was serious about joining. They said NO.. absolutely could not be flexible (even tho there were less than 6 people working out in the enormous place) because if they made ONE exception then 8,000 members would all want exceptions to the rules-- like tomorrow morning the whole city would descend upon the place at once and demand outrageous favors. It is ridulous and stupid when on-site mgt cannot make an exception to one rule when a potential NEW MEMBER is standing right in front of them. We are mature women, not kids trying to just get a freebie.. I would have written a check on the spot had they been the least bit accomodating. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush! 19 has apparently never heard this motto. My friend and I both own our own businesses and were appalled at the sheer stupidity and indifference displayed here. I would play frisbie on the beach rather then go back to a place so hopelessly clueless about the meaning of building and fostering customer relations. If someone had brought a NEW customer right into me I would have tapped-dance for them if they wanted and rolled-out the red carpet. The recession is not really over yet 19. Hopefully you will feel the pinch. -- Sharon in Grover Bch

Absolute RIP OFFS!!! I went into the office to cancel my membership and spoke with "Jay." After a brief conversation about the possibility of coming back, I still decided to cancel. To my surprise, I realized that they had continued billing me for 2 months after I had canceled. In the meantime, my wallet was stolen, so I had to cancel my debit card. Once they were unable to debit my card since it was canceled, they started calling and asking for payment. I told my story to at least 3 people over there. Each time, they told me that they would have a manager call me back. That never happened. Finally, they said that they were going to send me to a collection agency. I insisted on talking to a manager. The manager (Jeff) said that Jay should have had me sign a form to cancel. I explained that I was in the office and would have been willing to sign a form, but he did not ask me to. He said that it was my responsibility to make sure that Jay (his employee) followed proper procedure. He also made many more rude, demeaning comment. He told me that I needed to "act like a man." And, when I asked him to send me confirmation that I had made the payment and that they would not contact me again, he said that he "wouldnt waste a stamp on" me. Even at $20/month, this place is an absolute rip off. Poor customer service, dirty equipment, broken equipment, and bad management.

I signed up for a membership yesterday, which I am very excited about. Its super affordable, with just a $1 enrollment fee, first and last months membership dues of $14/month (with no day restrictions!), and then I paid for first and last months of the kids club that is only $10/mo for unrestricted visits! I also took advantage of their personal trainer special that they had going on of $99 for three sessions. Unfortunately, after writing the check for all this, an unexpected expense came up for my son and I couldnt afford to do the personal trainer at the moment. I went in this morning to see what I can do about cancelling the trainer, and they were totally flexible with me! They let me post-date a check to a time when I will have the money for it so I can still take advantage of the special pricing. They handed me my original check back and let me cut them two separate ones; one for the membership and one post-dated for the trainer. I see other reviews of people having difficulties with payment and cancelling with Fitness 19, but I am happy to report that my experience is much to the contrary. I will come back and make another review after using the fitness center :-) Thank you Fitness 19 for working with my financial situation!

UNETHICAL, WITH NO CONSISTENT PRICING!... This is the worst gym I have ever belonged too. Tried a 3 month membership to try it out. Brought my partner in for a try and she joined for $199. prepaid for the year. When my 3 month was up I talked to 3 individuals about a price for one year prepaid. The first told me $249. the second said they would match my partners price of $199. I said I would be into pay tomorrow since I didnt have my C.C. with me. Came in the next day and the short blonde guy told me the best deal was $299. I walked. He probably didnt care for me because when I asked him when a particular machine would be fixed, he stated it had been down for about a week and it should be fixed within another 10 days. I replied the machine had already been down for 3 weeks, which he didnt care for. That was an absolute fact. They do not have a printed price sheet to offer to customers, what does that tell you. In todays economy and business climate you would think a gym of all businesses would strive to be ethical, and provide good customer service. This Fitness 19 does not. If corporate ran C.S.A.T calls to all members after joining I would be very surprised if they were NOT terminated by corporate.

Agree with everything said about Adam--a brick with a "p." The good news is that he isnt around much; Jeff, whos usually there when I work out, is a really good guy. However, equipment breaks down and is not repaired/replaced: one example would be that two stationary bikes have been down for months. Ones hiding in the office and the other has the little "Im not feeling well" or whatever tag attached. The owner/managers need to grow up and spend some time taking care of their business. Also, why in Gods name are we subjected to Fox "News" as the channel of choice? If I wanted good propaganda, Id watch newsreels of the Nuremberg Party Rally by Leni Riefenstahl. A gym should be a positive place, and having Glenn Beck or Hannity or Huckabee posturing on two TV screens in front of the cardio equipment is a real downer. Its hard to focus when you want to throw up. CHANGE THE CHANNEL, YOU MORONS!

Well its cheap and as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Although the gym is clean and equiped with a reasonable amount of equipment, there are too many members for the capacity of the gym. In fact I would be willing to bet the fire marshall would disagree with the amount of person to accessible exit ratio. As for the childcare, there are no credentials required for these people to watch you children.Nor is there a requirment for the childcare personnel to be CPR/Heimlich/First Aid trained professionals. In fact I am more qualified than the people working there. That doesnt instill a great amount of confidence in the facility. But if your looking for the cheapest gym in the area and are willing to manipulate your schedual to use the gym at a low traffic time then, this may be your gym. Truly, Mr. Smith
