Im a subscriber to Massage Envy but at 7pm on Sunday evening, I really wanted a massage. I did a quick nearby search and Zen Day Spa popped up within a mile of me and they were still open (until 9pm). I called and was surprised to get an appointment for deep tissue (the other reviewers said they are pretty busy). The spa is on the second floor above the Blick Art store; parking was easy in the lot. Their prices are pretty affordable and vary by method of payment. The woman at the front reception was very patient with me as I dug through my purse to see if I had enough cash to avoid the $2 extra for paying with a card. I upgraded my hour massage to a hot stone deep tissue with 30 minute of reflexogy for $66 -- yes, $66! Sam was my therapist and he was very friendly and didnt force small talk on me. I laid back in the recliner for my foot reflexology. I wish they had music but everything else was pleasant: cup of jasmine tea, low lights, blanket and pillow. After my foot massage, Sam gave me a pair of slippers and took me to another room for my hot stone massage. He was more vigorous with the deep tissue than other therapists Ive experienced (maybe because the stones were very hot!) but he actually dug in the spots most other therapists avoid on my shoulders (close to the rotator cuff) so I really appreciated that. Im coming back again and even considering ending my Massage Envy subscription because $35 for an hour of deep tissue is too good to pass up.

This place is great! Ill come here once a semester (usually during RRR week) when Im stressed out, and getting a massage really helps. They offer pretty cheap rates, and I always get the $20/hour "foot" massage. Although its advertised as a foot massage, theyll work on your feet for the first thirty minutes, and then take you to a table for a full body massage afterwards for half an hour. All of this for only $20! There may be a language barrier as well, as most of the employees speak Chinese mainly, but you shouldnt have a problem making reservations and explaining what kind of massage you want. Ive also never had a problem making a same day appointment, and the 51B stop gets off right next to this place. Overall, if youre in college or cant afford professional massages, or are skeptical about getting a massage cause youve never paid for one before or dont want to deal with the language barrier, I would suggest taking the plunge here. After all, its only 20 dollars.

My all time favorite! If youre looking for a spoil me type of spa, look elsewhere. This place is the go to place if you want a "get rid of all my knots and stress" type of massage. They massage firmly and nicely and they make your knots melt away. I get a massage here every week, try their foot/back massage or their one hour body massage, you wont regret it. They usually ask for payment at the beginning and if you pay with cash, they give you a discount. Great place!! Highly recommended.

I have used Zen Day Spa a few times and the service has been great each time. It is a really good value for money compared to other massage centres. The skills of masseurs is of very high standard. I would definitely recommend. I take my friends to this place as a special gift of touch and caring to take away stress. I specifically really appreciate the ritual of hot towel rub/wipe at the end.

This is not a day spa. This place is where you go to book a fierce, last minute massage. No idea who I saw today but did he have firm pressure! Never stopped working on me, kept his pressure consistent and worked on my back the most. Couldnt have asked for anything better and cant beat the price. The hot towel at the end is fantastic; I hate putting on my clothes after a greasy massage.

I wont tolerate the cashier belittling me in front of other locals. I paid $35 cash and received a one hour massage. After finishing up and setting a tip on the desk, she questioned me and gave a smug response to all people in the room as if it wasnt enough of a tip. They wont get another penny from me. Some people need to be more grateful.

I have been many times and love it!!! The trick is to find a practitioner that you like and stick with that person, because some are better than others and communication can be difficult, unless you speak Chinese!
