Ive been going to this place for 4 years now and honestly I thought that they do a great job, but my recent service at this place was anything but pleasant. I had asked my wife to take one of our cars for an oil change and one of the mechanics decided to take the car for a joy ride a.k.a. "test drive" even though it was only in for an oil change. My wife saw our car drive out the lot and the mechanic driving it scraped the front bumper on the street as he pulls out of the drive way. My wife then tells me and I told her to complain but these guys ganged up on her and made it look like she was the one who scraped it on the way in the lot and intimidated her by telling her they have it on video but in truth they dont even have cameras on the lot. So I had to go there and defend my wife from these guys and I was told the same lies by this new guy that replaced kevin so I asked to see the video and I was told that the cameras were not recording at that time and so I stepped out and looked for cameras but didnt see one at all. We were also denied the chance to talk to the manager matthew coz it was his day off but a guy who was there before us got to talk to him and this new guys reason was this customer had been going there for 20 years. Being denied your rights as a customer, taking your car for a joy ride and damaging it, putting the blame on you and intimidating you to submission by telling you lies face to face is just plain criminal. So you women out there and loyal customers be aware of what they do to your car after they service it. I suggest you wait there til your car is done coz these people are liars! They sell you the words theyre different from any other car service center and guarantee your satisfaction and tell you bad things about other repair shops but other repair shops wont take your car for a joy ride when you bring it in for an oil change and risk damaging it and giving you inconvenience. These test drives that they do is only to find out what minor things are wrong with your car so they can get more money out of you so I think at the end of the day they just want your money. Be aware.

This review is based on my experience several years ago... PRO Good service and they know what they are doing. They are honest and only do the repairs that is required. They also have good prices. CON We have a disagreement on the type of oil they are using. They dont use the oil that is recommended by the car nor do they use a good brand of oil. He feels that the oil he is using for the cars are good and make the car last longer even though its not recommended by the car manufacture. If you are a regular customer there and been using his oil, than just continue using it since your car is already got used to to the oil. Otherwise, bring your own oil for him to use. OVERALL I will recommend him and I will continue using him but I switched cars. Now I am back using a Japanese car but I am no longer in the area. But if I live in the area again, I will go back to him.

If you are going to post a review, try to make it an honest one. In response to your 1st lie, we did not damage your car. We have been in business for over 30 years with NO complaints. Check the Bureau of Automotive Repair website and you can see for yourself. We are an honest shop with honest technicians. In response to your 2nd lie, we NEVER said that we damaged your car. We are honest people and we are in the business to keep our customers. We have made mistakes, and we have been up front and honest about every single one of them. Plus, you never contacted us about any stripped bolts. If they were stripped, we would have fixed that under warranty. I think that maybe you have been ripped off by so many mechanics that you are unsure how to deal with honest ones.

Myself and the rest of my family has always trusted Japanese Auto Center with all of our repair and services needs. It is hard to find a good and trust worthy auto shop and I am so glad to have found this place. I have been brining my own car here for over 15 years, back when they were at their old location behind the Fallbrook Mall. Every time I go in I never have to worry because I know they will not take advantage of me and preform excellent work on my car. There is also quite the variety of magazines to read while you wait or if it is a major repair, they always give me a ride to home or work in their shuttle van. Love this place and will continue to there until I can no longer able to drive.

Matthew and his team at Japanese Auto Center are very honest and conscientious. My wife and I have been customers for about 8 years. Their work is excellent, their rates are very fair and, most importantly, theyre honest. Ive had dealers tell me that my car needed all kinds of extra work done and then I took it to Matthew for inspection and been told it wasnt necessary. And, conversely, if Matthew says it needs to be done, it needs to be done. Our 1998 Toyota Camry now has almost 200,000 miles on it and youd never guess from driving it. JAC has taken care of it since it had 60,000 miles. And, it might even last for 300,000, according to Matthew.

My wife MDX produce terrible sound when using steering wheel and leaking steering fluid terrible – our dry way has now huge spot. Acura 101 estimated fixed cost at $1,700. I start search for good Acura mechanic and found Japanese Auto Center in Canoga Park. Matthew check my car and realize that only part need to be change high pressure power hose. Made my story short – we pick up our MDX yesterday and pay only $388. Our MDX is quite as before and Matthew saved my $1,300. I would recommended this shop to all my friends and relatives (even for mother-in-law). THANK YOU, Matthew! I will back to you with all my car need from now on!

Matthew, Kevin and JAC lied to me, did shoddy work and violated California regulations (as found by the DCA). I went to them on the basis of a family members recommendation, but would warn anyone else to stay away. I am not a novice; I do most work myself on my cars. So I took what precautions I could (such as checking compression independently, asking specific questions, etc), but ultimately lost nearly $1000. I could write the story in detail, but this should be warning enough to anyone -- dont trust these guys.

I have been a customer for over 10 years. I recommend them to my friends because they are honest and reasonable. They once helped me get a dishonest Dodge dealer to fix my car while it was under warranty. When you find a good place to take your car, you are very lucky.
