My landlord required me to use Cate Electric in Carmel to upgrade the service panel on a 90 yr old house in Monterey. Cate did the job (to the owners satisfaction) and I asked them to run power to my laundry room for my clothes dryer. I also wanted power run to the garage. I have owned 5 houses in my lifetime and I have worked with many contractors and Ive had experiences from A to Z with good to ugly workmanship, over promise and under preform, and being pleasantly surprise by someone taking the extra step and having real pride in their work. Cate has been a real disappointment. I expected them to do better than the average pull-the-wire-under-the-house (I wasnt really asking them to do anything really challenging) and all I got was one broken promise after another... they didnt call me back when they said they would - multiple times! They didnt show up TWICE for an appointment and several times told me they would send me a quote and didnt. Now maybe Im just not in their sweet spot - bigger jobs with more profit (Im sure it happens), but just call me and tell me Im too small a job and Ill move along. The two jobs together were verbally estimated to be over $4000. I understand that, but to just ignore my messages, repeatedly not call me back when they said they would, and generally blow me off with indifference is not good business. Thats why Im taking the time to write a review. I at least deserved a reply of "no thank you".
