This company does business for U-Haul near Newport Beach, CA. On November 2nd I went to the above mentioned company with my husband to get a U-haul truck that I had reserved 4 days prior in my name to move my mother. We arrived, there was a big line, we waited our turn (even though I had an appointment made online) then a man named TIM FOUSE CLARK called us. He asked me my drivers license and credit card (platinum American Express) which I provided. He continued putting/checking my information on his computer, and asked me a contact phone number which I provided. He then said "I am calling you now". I said “well that is my home phone number, so I will not be there”. I even mentioned that the day before he had called me and spoken to me. In a bizarre behavior, he then asked us for a cell phone what we did not have with us at that moment; we were moving furniture and boxes. He continued saying loudly in front of at least 20 people that we SHOULD have one, he needed to call us. He even made fun of us in front of everyone (very humiliating experience). He said “hahaha no cell phones?”, like we were lying. He made look like that today is MANDATORY to everyone to have a cell phone ON YOU. He continued to behave erratically, agitated, screaming at us, and we were trying to be reasonable during all times. I even suggested that I could go home, so he could call me. He threw his pen over the balcony demanding a phone, I feared for my life at that moment, he was very aggressive. I then perceive that I had to give this man at any cost a phone number, so I gave my mother’s, who is a very sick old lady (79 years old), so he could call. After all this harassment I asked him for the manager and he said it was him, then I said “I want to speak to the owner then”, he said it was him. Wow!!!! This is the first time that I see someone asking for my phone and wanting to call me right and then to confirm my identity. It looked like to me that he was DISCRIMINATING US!!!!! I know that because I was waiting for my turn and I was observing his behavior, I did not see him asking nobody for a phone that he could call now and then, just us!

Beware, if you give your credit card to u-haul, you can be overcharged and have no recourse, except small claims court. I rented a u-Haul truck and car carrier from San Diego,ca on a Saturday April 14, 2007, to be dropped off the next day, Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Santa Ana, CA. This u-haul closed before our drop off time, and I called the uhaul orange county managment dept and they said there was a drop box there on site and not to worry as it would be checked in properly. Within a couple of days I noticed an additional $345 charged to my WaMu account. It was from the Costa Mesa U-haul. After talking to the manager, Jason, he informed me that he was there on "Monday" when someone dropped off the damaged truck, a day late, with less gas and blankets. He was not in the least interested in finding out why he had a truck that was dropped of the day before at a different location. After a lot of investigation on my part, as the manager and corporate were of no help... I found out that the manager of the Santa Ana uhaul on Bristol, Matthew, admitted to the fact that the truck had been dropped off at his location, however, since they did not have room for a u-haul with a car carrier he just dropped it off at Costa Mesa when he had time. Did he tell anyone, I asked. "No." To this day I have not received any compensation for the fraudulent charges.. I have heard many other complaints, seem this company goes out of their way to steal from consumers.

I have rented from them on several occassions and not had any issues with fraudulent charges or any problems with my reservations. I found their service to be okay - they dont keep you waiting for a long time when you are there and they answered all my questions. In all cases, they went out with me to check the truck before I rented it to inspect it for damage and I never had a problem even when I dropped the truck off after hours. Parking for local moves can be a problem so dont even try to leave you car there if you can help it. I am glad I didnt read these reviews before I rented there as it was the most convenient place for me to rent a truck and I would have thought twice about doing it if I had read them!

Just rented a trailer for the day, and returned it 15 minutes before closing. The entire staff was pretty friendly, but one enployee stood out and shined!!! Jesse was the employee who checked in my trailer, and did an amazing job of making me, not just feel like a valued customer, but almost like a friend. I am in the customer service industry, and to see another individual, at the end of what im sure is a stressful workday, treat me with kindness and make me feel like I wasnt just another face in the crowd is amazing! His customer service was ABOVE AND BEYOND naything I would ever expect from a rental place. Thank you for the awesome service!!!!

Worse storage facility in OC!!!! Rude, rude, rude!!!! Between a broken elevator the day after I decided to rent with them, to the broken promise of "your first month is free", to their crappy customer service this place is a damn joke. Tim the manager was rude from the beginning and I just spoke with Laura in finance who put me on hold in the middle of while I was talking to her and never came back. DONT RENT HERE!!!!!!!! Im a pretty easy going person but this is just ridiculous.

I rented a vehicle and returned in to this Costa Mesa location and ended up being charged an obscene amount of money for "damages" to the truck (paint scratch). But my debit card had already been reported lost when charges were made!! No idea how they managed to tap into my account, even my bank is confused. It is being disputed and Ive contacted the BBB. This is not the first time Ive heard of their business making unauthorized charges. STEER CLEAR!

Gave us a broken truck that went from third to fourth gear whenever we tried to brake. Extremely dangerous. Gave us a truck with 3/8 of a tank. We used a little over 1/8 and they charged us an extra $30 for going over the 1/4 tank mark. Predatory business practices. Would not recommend to anyone.

Manager is very rude. He is not the owner but acts as if he was. Never would recommend people to rent at this facility . Never have I met a manager or owner with this 2 face attitude. First he acts nice and then he acts like a complete dick . He should get fire not very professional

Truck was ready when I arrived. About 5 minutes, I was out of there. I called to extend return time for two hours without any problems. Good thing that no one else was waiting for the truck after me. The drive through return was simple and quick. Friendly crews. Im satisfied.
