When I moved to San Diego from Ventura County in March, I left behind my hairstylist, whom Ive gone to for over seven years. So, I was dreading finding a new one who could work with my curls, and not just have some technical knowledge of how different it is to cut curls, but really know how to flatter my curl pattern. I already use Aveda products, so I figured Id try Young Attitudes, which is very close to my apartment complex, too. I definitely advise calling for an appointment at least a week in advance, because they book up quickly. When I called, I made an appointment and asked if I could have a stylist who knew curls. I come in for my appointment about a week later and I like the vibe immediately. Water and tea were offered, and there were comfy chairs to wait on. Then its my turn, and I meet my stylist, whose name is Keri. Already I like her because of our names! And she proceeds to give me the haircut of my life. It was spectacular. She used some techniques I was familiar with but others I wasnt, and she demonstrated excellent geometrical awareness when I asked her if my layers should start at my chin or shoulders. I was so pleased and impressed, and on top of that, she was just plain fun to talk to. During the cut, I mentioned I was mulling over shaving the sides of my head at some point in the future, and asked her about that, since she has shaved sides and short curls on top. She was encouraging and gave good advice. So, about three weeks after my awesome original haircut with Keri, I took the plunge and had her buzz the sides to a 3. I had a specific way I wanted it done, and she was very attentive to my wishes and worked with me to carry out my vision. I now go to her every three weeks to have the sides shaved down and its one of the best decisions I ever made. Ill be Keris customer for life! Thanks YA! TL:DR If you have curls and/or want to try out a drastically different cut, ask for Keri!

If youd like to observe sociopaths in action, feel free to pay the employees of this salon a visit. After I filmed one of their customers driving like a maniac in the parking lot and then entering the salon, 3 or so of the employees there (all female), along with their customer (also female), followed me into a nearby business (a Peets) and accosted me (I am male), yelling "youre going to get arrested!" and shoving a camera phone in my face trying to take my picture. This was 10 minutes after I filmed the salons customer almost running over a few pedestrians, and after security had been called. Ive uploaded a picture on the salons Yelp profile where you can see both the customer and one of the salons employees (the salons customer is in the foreground shoving her camera phone in my face, and the salon employee, the white woman wearing the hat with blond streaks and an orange tan, is in the background poking her head through door with an adorable sociopathic smirk on her face). The store owner, named Marilyn Young, apparently condones her employees entering adjoining businesses and creating a disturbance by accosting the patrons there. So, if youre ok with people who engage in this herd mentality type of behavior cutting your hair, check this salon out. Cheers =D.

I used to live in San Diego, but had to move to Iowa where no one can cut hair. I am here visiting my daughter and wanted to find a good place to get my hair cut. I went to Young Attitudes and asked for Robert, because of all of the good reviews about him on here. THEY WERE RIGHT! He is an incredible person and really, really knows hair. I have never had such a good hair-cut. My hair had cow-licks and crazy waves, but he cut it so that it is easy for me to style. He showed me how to style it and told me why is does certain things. I highly recommend Robert!

My wife and I went here with our bridal party to get updos. We had 10 appointments for hair and we had 2 more add on and they worked hard to fit everyone in. One negative is that each stylist is priced different and we were not aware that each one gets different pay. After we spoke to the staff they did make it right and the same price for everyone. Katie and MC did both the brides and they were amazing! Couldnt be happier with their skills!!!!

Im not the typical customer for a place like this, but desperately needed a haircut and stopped in. They were awesome, and my wife claims it was the best haircut Id had in 15 years. Emory looked after me and, well, what can I say but to suggest you give it a try yourself.

Ive had my hair cut by a few different stylists and have had a great experience every time. The prices are very reasonable. Im a big fan of Aveda products and I love the long lasting spicy herbal smell after Ive left the salon. I always leave feeling pampered.
